I am looking for the name of a TV programme or possibly a film shown on British TV , 1968ish - 1974ish A dress or wedding dress in a tall glass case in a rear corner of a Victorian old ladies bedroom or parlour, she is sitting on a sofa in the foreground, and warns a young girl who is admiring the dress or wedding dress, in the tall case "not to open the case" .
But the girl does secretly, behind the old lady, - the dress dramatically falls to pieces
I don't belive it but I am not alone am I? This film was on BBC TV in the early 60's and I remember the dwarf, the bear and the strange landscapes with cliff ledges with little people hiding on them. I started researching years ago trying to find this now I will probably have a nightmare tonight! Actually the whole series when it was shown really freaked me out. I am 53 and as others here have said.....he's creepy!
I did a 30 minute remix of this Underworld track once that kept building...and building...and building ....with added vocals c/o Steely Dan, and a nice bit of William Burroughs' voice sampling.
Hardcastle never got his plageurist hands on that one though.
................Imagine a fairy tale conceived by Wagner and directed by Fritz Lang, with nods in the direction of The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari and German expressionism, and you'd be close.........................
@spottydog4477 Well said ... music reminds me of early Bauhaus or the early Humphreys/McCluskey (Progress, Introducing Radios, etc) ... Great stuff ...
Spot On I've just turned 50 and the little man still gives me the creeps now. Wasn't there something else with a bear, a big fish, and tunnels under a castle? Wasn't this produced by some mad czech film studio of the time. How did it end up on British TV ?
wo ho! you went right into the depths of my physcy and plucked that one out! I have stong memories of this film, and as a girl I use to have games and fantasys of it - I even had my own ringing tree in the garden !! The story stayed close to me for many years to follow - you have touched on something big time there and bet you didn't even know it did ya?. I am moved - in a freaky/sentament sort of way!

A Radio Times readers' poll in 2004 voted this programme the 20th spookiest TV show ever.

Nice One. I grew up with the Singing Ringing Tree, unfortunately it was all in Black & White back then. Excellent Soundtrack. 5 Stars

Hey, nice video! I've heard this piece before; was trying to recall who did it. System 7 (AKA 777)?

The audio's part of a remix I did with Underwolrds Rez and a Brian Eno piece, the changing vocal sections are by Eno.
