To tell u the truth, I personally think that it's absolutely gross. And it looks like something my 12 year old cousin would have. (FYI, she likes to have bugs as pets!!!!)
lolol my brother convinced my mother into buying jumping beans at the dollar store and i just showed her this and she's like "when they hatch they're gettin the fuck out of my house!" xD
@LIMEANATORS2011S that is absolutely correct! It seems that the eggs are layed on the ovules of plant and the larvae enter the bud and in hardens around them!! FANTASTIC!! Our students cannot believe how much we've been learning about these little phenomenas!!
I spray my jumping beans with a water bottle every week or so. Is that too much water for them, or is that alright? Also, I know that the time a bean hatches may vary, but when does an average bean hatch?
@AngelicOblivion90 Hi there! Thank you for not only watching, but being observant and catching that...I love when my students find these little mistakes!! Number one it exemplifies the amount of misinformation that exists and also displays human error! It also encourages us not to take everything for face value but to INVESTIGATE and RESEARCH and draw our OWN conclusions!! We are never too old or too young to LEARN!! Thanks again and keep learning!! :)
@TheMizzprincess1991"The larva may live for months inside the bean with varying periods of dormancy. If the larva has adequate conditions of moisture and temperature, it will live long enough to go into a pupal stage. Normally, in the spring, the moth will force its way out of the bean through a round "trap door", leaving behind the pupal casing. The small, silver and gray-colored moth will live for only a few days." via wikipedia
isnt it amazing how these little guys know exactly what to do...i mean, they were born inside of a enclosed bean with no light, no sound...Nothing!...yet, they know to repair cracks with silk if broken, and to follow all the processes needed to become the moth ...i love life and all its mysteries...
@chrizzjizz Our natural world/universe never ceases to amaze me and that's why I am the luckiest in the world to have a great job investigating all this phenomena!! But the great news is thats what we all can do!! THANKS AND KEEP LEARNING!!!
when i noticed that my bean hatched after neglecting it for so long i freaked out and tried to look up what it was and now im still scared of it but i had my sister let it go for me XD
That's pretty cool, but I still hate them... because I find them super creepy, and I would like to torch one.... For whatever reason. Hmm.... harsh.

I understand that the egg laying is done in the flower, when polinization takes place the eggs end up inside the baby bean pods.

Mexican jumping beans are actually from the Mexican desert, NOT rainforests. But you did get the most of the facts right though.
