I have a MILESTONE and I used to have an iPod touch, agreed they aren't the same, one is an mp3 player, however, the touch is very similar to the iPhone just doesn't have the phone features. I can tell you this, the MILESTONE destroys the iPhone.

I am eager to see how real-world battery life is like on this Droid with multitasking. You have to remember that a phone needs at LEAST enough juice to prop it up for a whole day without a charge otherwise that's just inconvenient. Which is more inconvenient -- hitting a button to go launch a different app or being stuck without a charge left to call? If the Droid can deliver good battery time with multitasking, then I would indeed clamour for a better iPhone~!!

Do define "half-arsed" for Backgrounder on the iPhone. I've used it with Skype and Yahoo and even a GPS tracker. It does tell you which apps are runnning, and you do get notifications. Only problem is... these apps will drain your battery quite fast (specially the GPS tracker). So aside from battery life... where else does the iPhone 3gs phail?
oh~ so backgrounder do give you nortifications now? please confirm, i'll use it again. oh and where else does iphone 3gs f-f-f-fail? camera is still 3.2mp, haha. aside from that, its shaping up to be a solid phone.

I've had AT&T for about 11 years. I've also had the iPhone for almost
3 years. The best carrier and phone maker lucky for me came out with
the iPhone. No carrier
compares to the quality and choices I get with AT&T. I'm not a fanboy
and I don't work for either corporation. What I do know is that I want
and buy the best....hence me owning 4 iPhones...a 2G and 2 3G
iPhones...(page 1).

Yeah, most of people don't need those features. And If someone actually needs, then you can jailbreak and get most of those features.
But the dumbest statement of the ad: iDon't take night shots.
Some phones can, but the pictures suck epic balls anyway, so why bother?
And "iDon't have a real keyboard" What's just DUMB. I can't imagine using a real smartphone keyboard anymore. I am a really fast typist on the iPhone and I love the on screen keyboard.

so you've never wanted or even felt the need to keep an IM app running while you watch a video, check and reply to emails and say reduce the brightness so that the battery lasts longer at the same time? without having to go to the damn home screen, open one app, go to the home screen again, open another app?

Well, no actually. If i'm watching House, i dont want anyone bothering me. Nor I, nor 80% of people I know use IM on their phones. I use SBSettings to change brightness at any time. + not only that but my iPhone changes the brightness automatically. But that's just me.

I am eager to see how real-world battery life is like on this Droid with multitasking. You have to remember that a phone needs at LEAST enough juice to prop it up for a whole day without a charge otherwise that's just inconvenient. Which is more inconvenient -- hitting a button to go launch a different app or being stuck without a charge left to call? If the Droid can deliver good battery time with multitasking, then I would indeed clamour for a better iPhone~!!

But the average consumer would give a shit more about how the phone feels in you hands and how it functions overall, not how much apps it can run at the same time and not how much RAM it has. 2. The HTC Hero (Andriod) has an automatic brightness change feature too.

Well, it -IS- America. See what happened to Microsoft and Internet Explorer? They got sued because they bundled IE for free and it was "unfair competition". If Apple allowed the AppStore to become as successful, then people (and lawyers) will be crying foul. Apple is controlling things, but in the end yes -- for their own benefit and survival as a corporate giant. I just think that if Apple really wanted to ban jailbreaking outright, they would have done it long ago. Truth is, it works for em.

yeah ofcourse, mine is unlocked and jailbroken, but i was just trying to make a point here, multitasking on iphone is half-assed, i know there is an app that allows you to run your apps in background (backgrounder or something like that), but that is still half-assed because there is no nortification what so ever, and push on iphone is a joke. yup, get anything but iphone, at least i dont have to deal with stupid contract.

Do define "half-arsed" for Backgrounder on the iPhone. I've used it with Skype and Yahoo and even a GPS tracker. It does tell you which apps are runnning, and you do get notifications. Only problem is... these apps will drain your battery quite fast (specially the GPS tracker). So aside from battery life... where else does the iPhone 3gs phail?

well if this confirms it: my apps running in the bg make the usual notification sounds even w the screen locked and backgrounder allows u to put a badge on apps running in the bg... so u know those apps are active.

exactly, they arent exactly 'running' but they still operate, but if they left the apps properly running the whole time it would seriously lag the phone, and if it did this every time people that were new to it would be terrible at it, so that only experienced users can actually use it

You may not lie, but then again, you may not be updated. one out of four of the iPhone 3Gs's here happens to be the latest and it won't JB like the rest. I'm no idiot, I've tried everything pwnage 3.1.4 and blackra1n for mac and pc -- the new bootrom kills the phone if it detects a modified ipsw installed. Tried w internet off even so the phone can't call HQ -- same. Only thing that works is a restore and the original 3.1.2 software.DevTeam needs to find a way past this new bootrom.Nd they will!
