  • It`s weird to have known this song for decades and not having been able to see the actual music video before today. That `s freedom!

  • Great song and great performer. Can someone tell me how to get this CD ? Live in Holland and I can't get it anywhere. Please mail to m.njoo@zgt.nl

    thx !

  • This is played in the same key as "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen. You could do a medley of the two side by side. Both tunes came out about the same time. If I knew how to edit patriotic footage, I could make a killer re-do.

  • I love this song. Lived on the west coast when it was released and heard it on the radio all the time. Moved back east and found that no one had even heard of this song. My kids even love this song!!!!!

  • I'm an Aussie who loves Johnny Farnham but it is a great song and full credit to Tom Kimmel for writing such a great song! Freedom is something we should all enjoy and stamp you foot down if anyone even THINKS they can touch yours!

  • Great tune! Classic 80's!

  • greatest

  • I hope that Tom gets the recognition that he deserves. Yes John Farnham's version is great, but credit and no doubt royalties should go to him.

  • I can't believe alot of people haven't heard of Tom Kimmel. They have no idea what they're missing! I wish they would re-release his albums. He deserves it.

  • Great AOR

    Thx for the rare video

  • TREMENDISIMO

  • Did Tom Kimmel play in latter day Poco?

  • Cool to see that Tom Kimmel has his own VEVO channel but it sucks that this song & his other 80's singles or albums are nowhere to be seen at iTunes or Amazon. Wish UMG would make "5 to 1" available at iTunes et al.

  • Great song. Done well by Farnham too.

  • I saw these guys back in 88 with Heart. Pretty good show!

  • @mistertom718 I think both versions are awesome, just different. As far as that goes maybe your idea also should mean all bands in the states should be banned from playing any AC/DC or INXS songs? Just appreciate good music mate.

  • @mistertom718 Full credit to Tom for writing such a great song. I prefer Farnham's version, but that's probably cos I'm an Aussie.

Farnham has brought 3 of Tom's songs to an audience in Australia - this one, Angels, and Hearts on Fire. Given that John's CDs used to make it to no. 1, with sell-out concerts, that's a lot of people here that appreciate Tom's songs and John's interpretation of them.

  • would be interesting to hear Bruce Springsteen and E street band play this

  • sorry tom you may have sang it first and wrote it but John Farnham dose it better

  • so good, .....

  • i was proud to be american in 1987 and i respected the people who ran america but not now nor the past ten years. good-sounding, positive song.
