  • thankyou for inspiring me and my sister to make our own claymation! i just have a few Qs,, what clay do you reccomend using,, how long before it dries out,, how long does it take to make a 5 min claymation,, and how much would you expect to pay for all the materials? thanks =)

  • @kateroonistudios Van Aken plastiline is incredibly affordable. About 4$ a pound, or 2$ on sale. You get it at any Michaels store or other arts and crafts stores. It never dries out, but if you left it under a light all day, it might melt.

5 minutes...if you're using a DV camcorder, it's faster, camera, it's harder and you usually get shake unless you have serious equipment. Maybe a few days...matters how much you do and how big the characters are. The more detail, the more work :)

  • um yea you're amazing.

  • @BillieJeanlove Thanks :)

  • @The240602 lol, thanks. I think of myself as an illustrator in reality...I'm not to artsy if you know me ;)

  • this has been very helpful. thank you so much for doing this!

  • @myrahawkin Not a problem :)

  • Because I haven't made a claymation in over a year. I've been working on technique.

  • And also, the ones that I post are mainly done within a day meaning that I didn't want to deal with high detail.

I want to give you guys more information than you need. That's what teaching is all about. lol

  • yeah what kind of color clay is this?

oh and i don't know where to find micheals (correct me if i misspelled it LOL) and BTW i am using RoseArt Modelling Clay because i don't know where micheals is or any arts and craft store is.

  • Van Aken. Michael's dot come site has a store locator. Call first to see if they have any. I got lucky.
