@hubble911 I have the same machine and engine and i do it in 2nd. Its not like other quads this one is powerful and more sensative with the clutch, u either do it right and it looks good, or u flip off. At some points u can see that this guy is in first gear cuz his bike was jerking a lot when he accelerated. and if you have enbough room like in a field or whatever, just do em in 3 gear cuz that way ur in a higher gear and it goes up smoother and looks nicer without the jerk; just dont fall lol

My 08 backfires a lot too. Try adjusting the valves. I am not sure if it hepled mine or not but you are supposed to do that after 25 hours or so. The backfire thing is pretty common from other owners I've heard from
