they're supposed to yank the chain to keep the stallion in line..and it is in his mouth because they are hard to control it does not hurt them.

apparently you've never handled a thoroughbred breeding stallion(obviously - you're alive) they will maim or possibly kill you if you don't stay ahead of them. Spend sometime observing in the breeding shed, you'll develop a new attitude.
