  • Who decreed karate point fighting as the "safest" martial sport?

Granted, the goal here is to score points, not deck one's opponent. But this is still a CONTACT martial sport, so injuries happen.

I wonder: how many KOs, broken bones, etc. occur ANNUALLY in such competitions? Especially compared to such martial sports as tae kwon do, Western fencing, kendo and judo?

    Just curious.

  • it all looks like ITF taekwondo. its almost the same as kickboxing but they have a pad on the foot that makes roundhouses hurt less. So they tend to use the heel (side kicks and hook kicks) mostly.

  • @bullmeatt The pad doesn't stop the roundhouse hurting or lessen the impact, it protects the bones in the attackers feet from being broken.

  • @La77a you are right about the feet and toes from getting broken, and you are right about it not lessening the impact or force. But the solidness of the bones in the feet cannot cut or bruise skin as well. Imagine getting hit by a bare foot, more force on one area vs the big foot pad, it knocks you back but doesnt not damage you nearly as much. Ive fought with and without foot pads and I can hurt someone much more without the pad on, although i risk my toes more from stubbing and breaking

  • @La77a How does it not lessen the impact? please show how you worked this out!

  • @matmurrell It doesn't lessen the impact but it does spread it over a larger area. The force of the blow is still the same but not focussed on such a small point. You will still have the same ft/Ibs i.e. force hitting the target but due to the padding the blow is less 'shattering', 'cutting' call it what you will. Bareknuckle fighters don't hit any harder, they just cause more damage.

  • @La77a I would say it does lessens the impact the target receives,

For the reasons that the foam "eats" some of the force, as in energy is used up in compressing the foam, therefore less energy is sent in to the target and also for the reason you pointed out as it spreads the force over a larger surface area, as the energy is dissipated over a larger area this means less pain, win win :D unless there coverd in crushed glass,

swings & roundabouts my friend, at the end of the day pads hurt less

  • They should make it so that if you do point fighting, you have to also do continuos because it gets a bad rep when ppl have their hands down/relaxed and they bounce around

  • HAHAHAHA 1:00 guy felt bad and went to help him up hahaha

  • what the fuck is that bitch doing at 2:17 someone should knock her ass out as well

  • sick video

  • Most of the fighters in these clips don't even have a guard up. I wonder if because it is "point fighting", it lulls them into a false sense of security.

  • safest martial arts sport? i do point fighting for a long time now, but its probably the most unsafest one .. most K.O.'s i've seen are in this form, since they go for points, they want them to count .. and an opponent who's in pain is easier to beat cuz most of them don't dare to run into that technique again..

That's just my experience so far, no facts lol

  • These are lousy point fighters who have no control of their technique and/or are cheap shot artists who can not fight by the rules. Point fighting is basically a game of tag with controlled techniques, but if only one person is playing by the rules, how is that a fair fight. All of these point fighters who scored a knockout with a cheap shot should have been disqualified.

  • point fighters dont have glass jaws, they just dont have an efficient effective guard and balance...

any boxer or decent thaiboxer gets sick watching this because of the billions of openings and guard /stance mistakes wich would get you knocked the fuck out in a full contact real boxing/thaiboxing match

BUT , i DO realize its a DIFFERENT SPORT and it cant be judged by other systems rules...so yeah...

    still makes me cringe

  • Raymond D!

  • point fighters have glass jaws

  • no its because u have to be lose. if u were stiff u would be slower and lose

  • MMA fighters have paper jaws.

  • TVJMMRHFIAJTBATDSOTTGVA??

    nice vid man

  • sweet, love the video, makes me want to get back into it.

  • Hey , really enjoyed these clips , some fantastic shots.
