@packerman2r3 WM where I live now just ordered a ton of brand new Mack MRU chassis with McNeilus RLs & FL bodies! To bad they're not Leach2R3s though. & Yeah, MACK IS THE BEST TRUCKS IN THE WASTE BUSINESS!!! They dominated completely in NY where i used to live!!!! They're a common site here in FL where I live now too!!
@bitterman112 Mack McNeilus are the best. Their the most comfortable to use their control's, & hydro lines are all in perfect spots. Great for resi or commercial, & they also rack on the go. Which save so much time, & is easier on the truck.
I THINK WE MAY SEE MORE TRUCKS LIKE THESE THEY NEED 2 BRING THESE CLASSICS BACK THEY REALLY GOT THE JOB DONE!!! U NEVER KNOW WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS I GUESS????
@883holley To my understanding, Leach2R series Rear Loaders are still made, but they're a common site in private carting comps mainly up North in NY & NJ! I know cause I lived in NY my whole life & that's mainly what they used. & Yes, I agree, REAR LOADERS HAVE & WILL ALWAYS GET THE JOB DONE BETTER THAN ANY OTHER COLLECTION METHOD!!!! JUST GLAD WHERE i LIVE, THERE'S ABSOLUTLY NO AUTOMATION & HOPE IT STAYS THAT WAY!!!!!!!!!
Gotta love Leach..When growing up in NJ, all I saw was Leach 2R's. I would wake up early on a Saturday morning to watch the collection from my house. Nowadays, you'd be hard pressed to see one, and I live rather close to a local WM landfill. Great post and a great find!!!
Cool truck. I drove a Volvo like this one with a Heil F5000 rear loader a few times... and that truck was a pile of crap... On the one I drove all the right side drive stuff was broken and the door on that side didn't close. The engine ran bad, and the shift box for the trans didn't work right. The auto would get stuck in 3rd and I'd have to press downshift for it to shift up into 4th... then there was the packer body itself... holes, cracks, and many of the hydraulic lines leaked. Great vid!
Thanks!! I talked to a WM driver who drives a new commerical FL McNeilus/Autocar where I live & he told me that the new Autocar he drives has some issues! He told me he prefers the Macks over them cause of the extra hp, torque & drives better! I think Mack always was & always will be a better choice for the refuse industry!!! Despite the fact that I think IHC is included too!!!!
Thanks! I've seen this truck in action once! It took like more than 5 stops to fill up the hopper before pack cycle! Man what a beast lol!!! LEACH FOREVER!!!
Yes, it's a volvo. But before volvo took over the truck make, White Motor Company, White had Autocar(construction&garbage)trucks). At the same time, they had the expeditor series, like you see in the post! Because the expeditor was the cabover version of Autocar, it was commonly labeled Autocar! I know this cause I looked it up in Hank's Truck page when volvo had White Trucks brand several years ago!! Volvo recently sold Autocar to Grand Vehicles Holdings Group!!
Another thing, Volvo also bought out GMs heavy truck division at the same time they did with White. So sometimes you may see a cabover Autocar Expeditor with the WhiteGMC nameplate! So that is the result!!!
Freightliner started out as a popular trendy LessThanTruckLoad company: CF(Consolidated Freightway). When Freightliner sales were booming, they sold to White! When White was slipping to bankrupsy, they sold Freightliner to Mercedes-Benz in 1986! Then White sold to Volvo! This is why Freightliners are the best selling rigs on the road! It's because of Mercedes which is now Diamler Chrysler! I've studyed Class 8 trucks for yrs but have no tolerance to drive one!!
You're welcome! I just love CLASS 8 TRUCKS & FREIGHT TRAINS too!! It's good to find that there're quite a few people on the Tube that appreicate vehicles like this!!!
Mack McNeilus are the best for resi, & commercial routes. Their fast, comfortable 2 use, & can rack on the go.
