Boston Globe: McCain Lied About Alternate Fuel Votes.
"McCain: 'I voted for alternate fuel all my time.
Fact Check: In his 26 years in Congress, McCain has voted against several bills and amendments calling for new investments in renewable energy, according to official Senate records. In March 2002, for example, McCain voted against an amendment to require utilities to generate 10 percent of electricity from renewable energy facilities by 2020." [Boston Globe, 9/26/08:
"new rule, you can't put a windmill in your campaign add if you voted against every single bill that might lead someone to build one (applause), as long as your sending a camera crew to a farm, why not just take a picture of actual bullshit"
McAncient is a typical say-anything-for-your-vote politician. He claims to support wind and solar energy, yet on July 30th, McAncient did not vote for bill (S.3335) which provided tax credits for installing solar energy, wind turbines, and other energy-efficiency systems. MCANCI0ENT HAS NOT VOTED FOR THIS BILL EIGHT (8) TIMES!! His claim to support renewable energy is a FARCE! He's desperate for your vote and is hoping Americans are too ignorant to know when they are being bamboozled.
You seem to think there is an unlimited supply of oil in the world. What do you suppose we do when it's all gone? At current consumption levels, and assuming that oil will be consumed only from reservoirs, known recoverable reserves would be gone around 2039, potentially leading to a global energy crisis. The rapidly increasing demand for petroleum in China & India could deplete oil even faster.
I'm not against drilling. I'm against those who point to the high price of gas and say that drilling will lower the cost. We need petroleum for a variety of applications... Using nearly all of it to create gasoline to fuel our vehicles without actively pursuing an alternative that already exists is idiocy. We need to use wisely what little domestic petroleum we have left. Our country once led the world in technology and ingenuity. Why do we remain shackled to the internal combustion engine?
It's true Hybrid vehicles consume LESS gas, but they still consume gas. We have the technology to build fast, affordable, fully electric vehicles that can travel more than 100 miles on a single charge AND look just like vehicles on the road today. (Search: "Who Killed the Electric Car") Problem is corrupt politicians, whose power is lavishly funded with oil money, prefer to serve the short-term interests of greedy oil executives than the long-term interests of ordinary people like you.
Obama offers much more specific language and goals regarding renewable energy in his plan. The proposal rests on spending $150 billion over 10 years for alternative and renewable energy efforts, including promoting "development of commercial scale renewable energy." He also says he'll require that 25 percent of electricity used in the U.S. comes from sustainable sources such as solar, wind and geothermal by 2025.
And you suppose his policies will hold up until 2025, once people realize that he has NO executive experience, the Democrats will be pointing fingers at Republicans all over again.
John McCain recently missed a vote in the U.S. Senate that would have given tax credits to wind and solar companies. This is the eighth, 8TH time, he has missed this vote. One time even not leaving his office in Washington to attend the vote. McCain is a liar.
John McCain's energy solutions for America: -More Nuclear Energy -More clean coal development -More Alternative Energy sources -More corn and sugar based ethanol energies -More production of flex fuel vehicals and tax credits -Immediate oil exporation and drilling offshore -Energy conservation -Suspension of gas taxes Barack Obama has no immediate solutions or relief for America's energy crisis and high fuel costs. That's why America supports JOHN McCAIN FOR PRESIDENT!
AMERICAN NEWS MEDIA AND OBAMA SUPPORTERS GET CONSERVATIVE BASE STIRRED UP LIKE A LETHAL NEST OF KILLER BEES due to the lopsided media coverage in favor of Obama, and the lack of respect many of Obama's supporters have shown towards an American war hero and decorated Veteran. There has been a lot of downright disrespect for the former Navy aviator pilot who was shot down and served as a POW for five years in Vietnam and choose to serve next to his comrades after he was badly beaten and tortured.
well My friend. I hope you realize that gas going down had nothing to do with Bush. Since Congress would need to lift their ban before anything could happen. It was rather market manipulation that brought down the price in gas, or rather a lack of it. Manipulation is the thing that Obama wants to make illegal. Also are you aware that McCain voted against off shore drilling in 2003? Or that in a bill that said that if there was drilling that the gas would go to us, McCain said no oil for the USA
McCain served in the US Navy until 1981 and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982. After serving two terms, he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, winning re-election in 1992, 1998, and 2004. God Bless John McCain for President and Commander in Chief.
Barack Hussein Obama elected in 2004. Has anyone ever served as President with less experience as a Senator or member of the House of Representatives? I think he has had 144 days of time with the Senate in session.
I don't think McCain is suggesting drilling for oil so it can hit your tank tomorrow. He is talking about moving towards energy independence. It is actually a pretty sound plan when you include his focus on renewable energy, nuclear power, and freeing up venture capital to invest in new technology. I would hardly call anything McCain does more of the same. That is a simplistic argument meant for simple people who can't think for themselves.
Bush lifted the ban the other day and the price of oil fell 3 consecutive days. There are some places that will give us oil in like 2 years, and McCain wants to take the money we won't be spending on other nation's gas and invest in solar, wind, clean coal research, nuclear power research,flex-fuel vehicles, and an electric battery that will be superior. He and Democrat Joe Lieberman introduced this plan 5 yrs ago and Congress shot it down! It's better to start now, than do nothing for another 7 yrs!
I was quoting Opshadow1 who painted himself into a corner with his false claims of military service. One day he was a SEAL that came up through the Marines as a Gunny and then went to OCS. Today he happened to be a Naval Academy graduate. It is sickening.
You should stop worrying about me and instead worry about Obama. His supporters make up "facts" to support a candidate with no ethics or experience. Opshadow1!
"I attended and Graduated 24 out of 766 at Annapolis"
"YES, 23 YEARS!!!!!!! Gunners Mate to OCS to BUD/S as an Officer!!!!"
You may ask, how can someone come up through the enlisted ranks as a Marine, then go to OCS, then go to BUDs, when they also went to Annapolis? Well kids, you can't! Opshadow is another lying Obama supporter!
Do you wonder who supports Obama the most? His brother Osama Bin Laden Al Qaeda Hamas Hezbolla Iran Syria N. Korea Cuba Venezuela Do you see a trend here? Why do you think all these terrorists and dictators want Obama to win?
that wouldn't reduce the cost of gas, unless the government nationalized. And when other countries nationalize there resources, are country often puts them on the state sponsors of terror list
The differences between McCain and Obama couldn't be more obvious.
McCain volunteered to go to the Naval Academy and serve his country in war out of a sense of duty. Obama went to Occidental college to have fun and smoke pot.
McCain has long been an opponent of wasteful government spending. Obama spends for votes.
McCain has an approach that is winning in Iraq. Obama wants to run away for votes.
McCain served with all colors and religions. Obama associates with racists and criminals.
Energy independence is long overdue and he is correct in putting the blame on prior administrations, not just the current one. Thank you, John McCain, for making the hard calls again and again... and for putting America first.
Barrack Obama is not qualified to be the president. He is a community activist from Illinois that hasn't even completed one term in the senate, the simple fact is is that hes never had to make a hard decision in his ENTIRE carrier and his record does not even compare to john mccains, atleast mccain doesnt go around giving patronizing speeches about how we cling to our gun and our god and how we should be more intellectual like the Europeans. every other dem has been 30 pts up by now, hes losing
Nuclear energy is a time bomb. It takes over 100,000 years for the products to no longer be radioactive. 100,000 years. wow. i wonder how much can be put underground in arizona. i bet less than 300 years worth. could be wrong but i doubt it can hold 100k worth.
Wind, solar, and nuclear energy are the way to go. nuclear energy is very clean and VERY efficient, the waist may take a long period of time to become environmentally neutral but it produces very little amounts of waste that can be stored in the desert, many Virginians and Californians are ignorant to the fact there are at least 3-5 nuclear power stations floating off the shore, i think all but one of the air craft carriers have been running on nuclear and they have been accident free 4 a cent
Please stop pushing wind, solar, and nuclear energy. They're useless for our transportation and petroleum needs (which is not to say that they are not useful, but not on a very large scale). Learn about algae-based biofuel instead.
22 percent of our energy needs can be replaced with wind and nuclear, ive heard of that algae based gas and its very interesting but i think natural gas is the way to go, maybe in the near future there will be gas stations with all kinds of fuel sources to serve a variety of cars

I appreciate your ridiculous ad-hominem response. The issue is TRANSPORTATION, not energy, and cars can't run on coal, nuclear energy, electricity, wind power, or solar power. Additionally, like oil, coal, uranium, and lithium are all finite resources. What we need to do is begin synthezizing crude-oil from algae on a large scale, in order to eliminate our dependency on foreign oil and create a renewable source of energy (look up 'algae fuel' on YouTube).
Voting for McCain is voting for higher gas prices, period. Big Oil's penis is lodged firmly in McCain's ass. Why are you for coal and nuclear? How will those two solve the problem of transportation? Are there, perhaps, plans for a nuclear-powered car? Imagine if a drunk got behind the wheel of one of those. Methinks you watch too much Glenn Beck (check out algae fuel instead).
Hello neoconcrackaddict. I suppose you are only for solar and wind power. Im guessing that you would like us all to live like Little House on the Prarie. Have fun at your next serria club meting
Im voting for John McCain. Im glad he came around... a little for drilling. Im for drilling here there and every where in the U.S. , same goes for building more refinerys. Im for clean burning coal and nuclear energy. As for solar and wind power in my opinion it's a joke.
Obama is and has been for nuclear. His only reservation is what to do with radioactive waste which McCain never mentions. Clean coal? Do you know something scientists don't? McCain, to my knowledge, has never mentioned refineries. They are at capacity now. They take at least 10 years to build. Nuclear plants 20. McCain has no energy policy. He says what people want to hear. I suspect Obama is still working on one. If it were so simple to fix, we wouldn't be talking about it now.
Hello deanrdd. I read your response to my comment. For all obama's talk on energy nothing he says will produce a drop of oil. Back when clinton was in office he threw away an opportunity to drill. If we had been drilling things would look better today. Oh by the way it is your messiah-obama that says what people want to hear.
He borrowed to much money and greatly increased the national debt. He also sold WMD to Iraq, root of todays War in Iraq. He reversed all of Carters attempts to increase fuel standards and alternate energy. We owe our continued dependence on Oil to him and the Republicans. Reagan was not our greatest President, Bush I was better and much more responsible.
I think many Americans don't understand how much better Bush I was. Remember, he chased Saddam from Kuwait back into Iraq and was much too smart to follow him there which would have created the problem we have now. He destroyed much of Saddam's military, which our intel agencies knew and Bush II ignored. It's a shame that the apple fell so far from the tree. Bush II has been such a disaster.
Bush 41 was a good man, I disagreed with some of his domestic policies but he was strong on foreign policy. Saddam was a product of past US policy and was supported by the Reagan Administration. Talk about aiding and abetting our enemies. Bush 41 also did great job dealing with Russia, Reagan failed to help them gain any stability. The devil is in the details. Putin seems to be returning Russia to a dictatorship, however, and they retain a capability to end western civilization.
Goooo John! I'm a HillCain supporting you! Believe me i have never in my life voted Republican but this year i am! Kick some Obamaican A@@! We need a True American in that White House!
Reagan was a moron, but he made you feel good about screwing you over. Carter was handed Nixon and Fords problems. That is what doomed him and Reagan doomed Bush I. Reagan spent like a drunken sailor and Bush I had to pay for his debt. We can not afford another Reagan at this time.
McCain will do nothing he is a Republican, and all talk. Democrats have been telling us these things for decades. Our Oil imports have increased greatly, lack of conservation is the problem. He has done little during his tenure in the Senate for energy independence. The Republicans are the past and have proven they are ineffective when in the majority. Their innate greed got in the way. Even T Boone says we can't drill our way out of this.
As a side note, I find it funny how they show a COAL power plant when mentioning nuclear (it has two massive stacks, for venting flue gases). Thanks to The Simpsons and TMI, the American people think anything with a cooling tower is nuclear.
And yes, anyone who believes that we can eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels with more fossil fuels and cut carbon dioxide emissions by burning more carbon (coal) is a nut.
I agree, there is no such thing as clean coal. Coal mining devastates the environment, especially with new mountaintop removal techniques. Coal mining kills thousands of miners every year from disease and accidents. Coal-fired plants release tons of mercury, uranium, and thorium into the air.
Even if we could "sequester" every ton of CO2 that a coal plant produces, the sequestered CO2 would still be polluting the ground instead of the air. Coal is dirty, and unfortunately, cheap.
If McCant thinks killing Iranian civilians with lung cancer is funny than IEDs blowing American soldiers to bits is a fucking LAUGH RIOT. This just illustrates his military mind set: dehumanize Iranians so it feels okay murdering them in war. Only a sick person would make such a joke and laugh about it.
The world's untapped supply of oil is shrinking every day. If you drill faster, you run out faster.
Don't blame Democrats for the scarcity of oil. No one can pass a law that creates more oil underground. We need to wean ourselves from fossil fuels (oil, coal, shale, hydrates) even if they can be excavated and burned.
Fossil fuel dependence gives a cheap energy high, with the unfortunate side effect of environmental devastation. Think beyond your next tank of gas.
McCain retired from the US Navy in 1981 and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982. After serving two terms, he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, winning re-election in 1992, 1998, and 2004. God Bless John McCain for President and Commander in Chief.

Don't knock Obama's experience, he has been a US Senator for almost 4 years. Just becoming a senator is a bigger accomplishment than most YouTube trollers can point to.
Another Illinois politician, a Republican by the name of Abraham Lincoln, had only 2 years on Capitol Hill (in the House of Representatives, 1847-49) before becoming president.
If you want to trumpet McCain's experience as a long-time Washington insider, go for it. That strategy didn't work so well for Hillary Clinton.
The democrats have had the majority in the House of Representatives for two years. Has the price of Oil or gas gone down during there time in Congress?
John McCain and Newt Gingrich at AmericanSolutions.... They are encouraging Congress to allow more oil exploration and drilling, but the democrats say No...... The democrats must have been sleeping during their Economics class, when they discussed Supply and Demand?
neither of these candidates will help america. the federal reserve (witch is not a part of the government) will continue to de-value our dollar, oil companies will continue to get no-bid contracts, senaters and congressmen will continue to take huge "donations" to write new laws that help big corporations and both will vote to chip away our rights in the name of "security".
The rising cost of oil has to do with factors beyond anyone's control - democrat or Republican. The entire government - house, senate, executive - would to be working TOGETHER if we were to solve the energy problem.

Barack Obama is actually more "American" than John McCain. Obama was born in the United States (in the state of Hawaii, 1961) and is clearly a natural-born citizen by birth. McCain was born in Panama (in the Panama Canal Zone, 1936).
Article II of the Constitution clearly states that "no person except a natural born Citizen... shall be eligible to the Office of President." There is still a legal debate about whether McCain is even eligible to be president.
There is no debate, but nice try. McCain was born at a military base in Panama. If you know anything about the law, that settles the question immediately.
I'm independent, and I don't like the smear campaigns of either canidate (Obama doesn't support his, but that doesn't mean they don't exist). Being born on a military base certainly counts as being American, legally.
John McCain was born at the Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone, which in 1936 was a US-controlled military base in Panama. That location is now a Panamanian container port, no longer under US control.
When I mentioned legal debate about McCain's eligibility to be president, I was referring to the July 5th 2008 article entitled "Legal debate still surrounds McCain's birth in the Panama Canal Zone" in the Austin American-Statesman.
Our stock market (401k!), economy, American jobs, currency, & way of life are dependent on OIL--like it or not.
Morgan Stanley Chief Global Economist:
"What is hurting the American economy the greatest is our import/export imbalance."
Our wealth is flowing to the Middle East funding those who hate us. Much of our electricity comes from OIL, so electric cars do NO GOOD without Nuclear power.
Cut & Run, Iran takes over Iraq, $240/barrel oil and our economy collapses.
Everyone should go to google and look up the relationship between ocean temperature and the ppm of co2 in the atmosphere. then go look up the relationship between water temperature and the solubility of co2 in water. Global warming is not man made!
Switching to solar and wind is not just the greenest way to make energy, it is also the most economically sound. On one hand, you have an energy source that has a finit supply, and will eventually run out. It also will continue to rise in price. On the other, you have a resource that can be found everywhere, and is only limited by the labor of putting cells or towers up. Which do you want?
As of today, that's nothing but nonsense. Solar, despite the protests of those in the industry, is still--after many years of serious effort--too inefficient. Wind is completely unreasonable as most of the country doesn't have sufficient wind resources. You need either mountains or coast land.
Solar and wind will be a part of the solution, as will nuclear energy if we can eliminate the ridiculous stigma that only persists in America. For now, more oil doesn't hurt as we make the transition.
Nuclear is part of the solution, I agree with you there (I couldn't fit that in the 500 character limit). It is the cheapest form of energy, and we should use it while we transistion into a stable energy economy. I dislike the environmentalist efforts to stop nuclear (mostly based off Cherynobel, an event that wouldn't have happened with one of our reactors), because it is a necessary stopping point on the road to energy independence.
On the other hand, I believe that solar cells are effiecent enough to economically sound. This is thinking in the long term, but because solar cells continue working with little maitenence for long periods of time (and I mean really long periods). If you put a single solar panel on your house, eventually it will have produces much more than oil could. If every house in the US had a single solar panel on it, we could save 1 and a half million barrels of oil a year. That is effienct enough.
The democrats have had the majority in the House of Representatives for two years. Has the price of Oil or gas gone down during there time in Congress?

Richard Rhodes has a wonderful description of the Chernobyl event in his book "Nuclear Renewal". To make another Chernobyl happen you would need find a type of Soviet reactor that no longer exists, and then do an prolonged series of stupid experiments with it.
I would much rather live next door to a nuclear plant than live within 100 miles of a coal plant. This said by someone who is both pro-nuclear and pro-Obama.
Most "Clean Energy" sources pollute the environment in some way. Houses powered with solar need big banks of lead-acid batteries. Wind farms make noise, look bad, kill birds, and require expansion of the electric grid. Hydroelectric dams kill salmon. "Clean Coal" plants belch tons of uranium and thorium into the atmosphere, and coal mining annihilates whole mountains at a time. Nuclear energy (w/ reprocessing of spent fuel) gives the maximum electricity with least impact on the evironment.
We have ways to lessen these problems of clean energy. Salmon populations are being built up due to aquaculture, and safe storage for solar batteries is possible. How do you compare these to Chernobyl, trust me there weren't many birds or salmon left alive within hundreds of miles of Chernobyl. O ya and it released as much radiation as 200 Hiroshimas and Nagasakis. McCain wants to build 37 of these outside of US metropolis. Listen to Stephen Hawkings on low probability events, worst idea ever.
"I hate the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live. I will continue to refer to them in language that will offend people. Gook is the kindest appellation I can give."
The democrats have had the majority in the House of Representatives for two years. Has the price of Oil or gas gone down during there time in Congress? Have the democrats in control of Congress succeeded in lowering the price of Oil?
You have to be kidding. Oil prices are high because instability in the middle east due to Bush's War in Iraq, Constant SaberRattling with Iran and Syria, also the dollar is down. Why? Because we borrow 7 billion dollars a week from countries like China to finance or war. O ya, and of course the ENRON LOOPHOLE CREATED BY McCAIN'S advisors Phil Graham and Charlie Black who was paid $140,000 for lobbying that act. Elect Obama, close that, gas down 25-50% overnight
Mr. Gingrich understands national security issues, listens to the people on our energy crisis and it's effect on our national economy. He understands that we need nuclear energy as an alternative for our power grid. He knows that we need to explore for more oil for energy independence and national security. This man should be running for Vice President of the United States.
I pray that Gingrich runs for VP. It would be the end of McCain's campaign. Hispanics will never vote for a man who called spanish a "language of the ghetto". Women will never vote for a man who pressed his wife for a divorce while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer and said, "She isn't young enough or pretty enough to be the President's wife."

Praising John McCain as a man of "peace" is like praising an arsonist for furthering the cause of urban renewal.
By the way, "tax and spend" is morally far superior to the Republican policy, which is "borrow and spend, never pay back, and let the grandchildren forever pay interest on what their grandparents borrowed, until the US is completely bankrupt."
Meanwhile, McCain uses $84 million of tax money to fund his campaign, and whines that Obama's campaign costs the US treasury nothing.
This whole economic mess is the result of the democrats taking control of congress. Do we really want these traitors aka democrats in the oval office?

Hey John how about burning some energy in the senate. John McCain has abdicated all of his responsibilities in the Senate while running for president. The man almost never votes anymore: he once went five consecutive weeks without voting. Now we learn that he's the Senate's top absentee, passing Democratic Senator Johnson of North Dakota, who suffered a brain hemorrhage in December 2006, in terms of votes missed. I guess it takes time to suggest doing nothing about America's economic crisis.
Well, Why doesn't he say what his plan is? Does McCain really even have one? Or is he just making more empty promises as usual? Barack Obama, if elected will invest 150 billion dollars over the course of 10 years on research for renewable environmentally friendly energy sources. McCain would rather use that money on offshore drilling that would wouldn't significantly lower gas prices for a decade (at best) while continuing to damage the planet.
Clean energy is good, but remember that progress doesn't just come with money. Things don't ALWAYS turn out right. While we ARE developing better energy sources, we need to stop dependence on these bogus foreign sources and make it easier on the people at the pump and with the energy bill. Besides that, nuclear waste would NOT be a problem if democrats licensed breeder reactors and reprocessing plants.
this is cute: eight years ago we had a conservative candidate and a candidate pretending to be a conservative. Now we have a liberal and a Republican pretending to be a liberal.
mfthels: Yeah, standing in line and waiting for the federal government to approve medical procedures based on "objective criteria" sounds real fun. Sign me up!
McCain is making empty promises he has voted against the very things he promises. Obama is more authentic and believable the way he speaks. By the way I am a Canadian we have FREE Medicare and we have had it for more than 30 years it works here. We have less poverty and our economy is stronger than the one Bush left your country with. Search the many mnay videos where John McCain is caught lying. This election is perhaps the MOST important EVER in American history the world is in Crisis
A request for the Mccain camp-Is it possible to get a video uploaded of that NAFTA ottawa speech?I missed it.And all these other videos are totally unreliable here on youtube. Thanks!
Didn't Bush propose hydrogen fuel stations for cars and switchgrass biodiesel? I can't believe the oil man didn't deliver on those... I'm sure McCain will do all these things lol. Must be an election year, here comes the promises, I'm sure he'll deliver. HA
See? now what is there that a liberal would not approve of? Conservative want clean energy, they just dont want a handout for it, they are willing to work for the good of america. Conservatism is what make me prod to be an american! Conservatives 08!!
Has McCain changed his stance yet again? Just last week it was drill here drill now, and now he is against drilling and fossil fuels? Is it just me or is he trying to target 2 different groups of voters and not pleasing either.
The ends justify the means, were have I heard that before? All the lies to justify a war with Iraq, so we can have a secure supply of $5 a gallon gas, massive inflation, less freedom, less liberty?
McCain, there is no honor to be found in Iraq.
McBush, no thanks.

Did OBAMA put them in Iraq USA troops are there because of the lies BUSH AND MCCAIN told more marines killed today for what to keep the Cheney and BUSH family business going,Who got the oil contract in Iraq yes thats right Cheney,s Company Haliburton Who runs it BUSH SENIOR so why are the troops there, to prop your leaders companys up,our kid is in Iraq with a private security firm and they are far better equipped than the Americans Nope OBAMA will bring them HOME instead
BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed three American soldiers and an interpreter north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said Wednesday, and Iraqi police reported 14 Shiite gunmen were arrested after fighting south of the capital.
THE REP ARE WAR MONGERING MORONS and that is why Australia kick your arses to the kerb, the current USA government is no longer trusted by other countries,or their allies 84% of Australian dislike or hate your President we see him as a liar and a first class idiot,he tried to manipulate our elections last year and the pple booted out Howard BUSH,S close friend and withdrew our troops from Iraq,we are not afraid of BUSH,s crap not like you americans who are scare of your own shadows

Teriyaki07 3 years ago
I'm not against drilling. I'm against those who point to the high price of gas and say that drilling will lower the cost. We need petroleum for a variety of applications... Using nearly all of it to create gasoline to fuel our vehicles without actively pursuing an alternative that already exists is idiocy. We need to use wisely what little domestic petroleum we have left. Our country once led the world in technology and ingenuity. Why do we remain shackled to the internal combustion engine?
Teriyaki07 3 years ago
It's true Hybrid vehicles consume LESS gas, but they still consume gas. We have the technology to build fast, affordable, fully electric vehicles that can travel more than 100 miles on a single charge AND look just like vehicles on the road today. (Search: "Who Killed the Electric Car") Problem is corrupt politicians, whose power is lavishly funded with oil money, prefer to serve the short-term interests of greedy oil executives than the long-term interests of ordinary people like you.

Courageous Liar
Obama offers much more specific language and goals regarding renewable energy in his plan. The proposal rests on spending $150 billion over 10 years for alternative and renewable energy efforts, including promoting "development of commercial scale renewable energy." He also says he'll require that 25 percent of electricity used in the U.S. comes from sustainable sources such as solar, wind and geothermal by 2025.

1) Tune up your car.
2) Make sure your tires are properly inflated.
3) Give everyone $1000.00 to buy fuel.
4) Tax the oil companies to pay for it.
5) Put on a sweater.

Allenpwnsu2 3 years ago
well My friend. Or that in a bill that said that if there was drilling that the gas would go to us, McCain said no oil for the USA

traciroxx85 3 years ago 4
I don't think McCain is suggesting drilling for oil so it can hit your tank tomorrow. He is talking about moving towards energy independence. It is actually a pretty sound plan when you include his focus on renewable energy, nuclear power, and freeing up venture capital to invest in new technology. I would hardly call anything McCain does more of the same. That is a simplistic argument meant for simple people who can't think for themselves.

I appreciate your ridiculous ad-hominem response. The issue is TRANSPORTATION, not energy, and cars can't run on coal, nuclear energy, electricity, wind power, or solar power. Additionally, like oil, coal, uranium, and lithium are all finite resources. What we need to do is begin synthezizing crude-oil from algae on a large scale, in order to eliminate our dependency on foreign oil and create a renewable source of energy (look up 'algae fuel' on YouTube).
neoconcrackaddict 3 years ago

Voting for McCain is voting for higher gas prices, period. Big Oil's penis is lodged firmly in McCain's ass. Why are you for coal and nuclear? How will those two solve the problem of transportation? computerpurple 3 years ago

I too feel that Obama hasn't laid out a good energy policy. I suspect it takes a lot of work.
I'm not sure I understand how it's Clinton's fault when Bush has been president for the last two terms, WITH REPUBLICAN MAJORITIES IN BOTH HOUSES.
If our refineries are at capacity, how will more oil help? It has to be refined. Where does that happen?

As a side note, I find it funny how they show a COAL power plant when mentioning nuclear (it has two massive stacks, for venting flue gases). Thanks to The Simpsons and TMI, the American people think anything with a cooling tower is nuclear.
And yes, anyone who believes that we can eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels with more fossil fuels and cut carbon dioxide emissions by burning more carbon (coal) is a nut.
ciradioouthouse 3 years ago
I agree, there is no such thing as clean coal. Coal mining devastates the environment, especially with new mountaintop removal techniques. Coal mining kills thousands of miners every year from disease and accidents. Coal-fired plants release tons of mercury, uranium, and thorium into the air.
Even if we could "sequester" every ton of CO2 that a coal plant produces, the sequestered CO2 would still be polluting the ground instead of the air. Coal is dirty, and unfortunately, cheap.

Another Illinois politician, a Republican by the name of Abraham Lincoln, had only 2 years on Capitol Hill (in the House of Representatives, 1847-49) before becoming president.

Barack Obama is actually more "American" than John McCain. Obama was born in the United States (in the state of Hawaii, 1961) and is clearly a natural-born citizen by birth. McCain was born in Panama (in the Panama Canal Zone, 1936).
Article II of the Constitution clearly states that "no person except a natural born Citizen... shall be eligible to the Office of President." There is still a legal debate about whether McCain is even eligible to be president.
dixonblog 3 years ago
There is no debate, but nice try. McCain was born at a military base in Panama. If you know anything about the law, that settles the question immediately.
jeliota 3 years ago
I'm independent, and I don't like the smear campaigns of either canidate (Obama doesn't support his, but that doesn't mean they don't exist). Being born on a military base certainly counts as being American, legally.

John McCain was born at the Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone, which in 1936 was a US-controlled military base in Panama. That location is now a Panamanian container port, no longer under US control.

Hears a message I will mention often:
Don't do it for the environment, do it for you.
IntelligentThought 3 years ago
As of today, that's nothing but nonsense. Solar, despite the protests of those in the industry, is still--after many years of serious effort--too inefficient. Wind is completely unreasonable as most of the country doesn't have sufficient wind resources. You need either mountains or coast land.
Solar and wind will be a part of the solution, as will nuclear energy if we can eliminate the ridiculous stigma that only persists in America. For now, more oil doesn't hurt as we make the transition.
jeliota 3 years ago
Nuclear is part of the solution, I agree with you there (I couldn't fit that in the 500 character limit). It is the cheapest form of energy, and we should use it while we transistion into a stable energy economy. I dislike the environmentalist efforts to stop nuclear (mostly based off Cherynobel, an event that wouldn't have happened with one of our reactors), because it is a necessary stopping point on the road to energy independence.
IntelligentThought 3 years ago
On the other hand, I believe that solar cells are effiecent enough to economically sound. This is thinking in the long term, but because solar cells continue working with little maitenence for long periods of time (and I mean really long periods). If you put a single solar panel on your house, eventually it will have produces much more than oil could. If every house in the US had a single solar panel on it, we could save 1 and a half million barrels of oil a year. That is effienct enough.

Nuclear energy (w/ reprocessing of spent fuel) gives the maximum electricity with least impact on the evironment.
dixonblog 3 years ago
We have ways to lessen these problems of clean energy. Salmon populations are being built up due to aquaculture, and safe storage for solar batteries is possible. How do you compare these to Chernobyl, trust me there weren't many birds or salmon left alive within hundreds of miles of Chernobyl. O ya and it released as much radiation as 200 Hiroshimas and Nagasakis. McCain wants to build 37 of these outside of US metropolis.

Thanks to John McCain and Newt Gingrich at AmericanSolutions they are encouraging Congress to allow more oil exploration and drilling, but the democrats want to say no. The democrats must have been sleeping during their classes on Economics when they discussed Supply and Demand?

The democrats have had the majority in the House of Representatives for two years. Has the price of Oil or gas gone down during there time in Congress? Has there theory that democrats in control of Congress succeeded in lowering the price of Oil?

Hey John how about burning some energy in the senate. John McCain has abdicated all of his responsibilities in the Senate while running for president. The man almost never votes anymore: he once went five consecutive weeks without voting. Now we learn that he's the Senate's top absentee, passing Democratic Senator Johnson of North Dakota, who suffered a brain hemorrhage in December 2006, in terms of votes missed. I guess it takes time to suggest doing nothing about America's economic crisis.

Can you tell me onething, why does Obama limit what you say on his vids? -Freedom of speach ring a bell-?
vengfulsoul123 3 years ago
Yeah, I noticed that too! Same thing with the move-on ads.
He should hammer this issue home and continue to contrast his energy plan with Obama/Marx '08's "plan."
Nuke and Drilling will greatly lessen our dependence on foreign oil.

Lower prices :D and while doing that McCain will destory our need for oil, is that right? :D

logalogalog 3 years ago
Well, Why doesn't he say what his plan is? Does McCain really even have one? Or is he just making more empty promises as usual? Barack Obama, if elected will invest 150 billion dollars over the course of 10 years on research for renewable environmentally friendly energy sources. McCain would rather use that money on offshore drilling that would wouldn't significantly lower gas prices for a decade (at best) while continuing to damage the planet.
FrogJon 3 years ago 4
Clean energy is good, but remember that progress doesn't just come with money. Things don't ALWAYS turn out right. While we ARE developing better energy sources, we need to stop dependence on these bogus foreign sources and make it easier on the people at the pump and with the energy bill. Besides that, nuclear waste would NOT be a problem if democrats licensed breeder reactors and reprocessing plants.

this is cute: eight years ago we had a conservative candidate and a candidate pretending to be a conservative. Now we have a liberal and a Republican pretending to be a liberal.

McCain stands a better chance of getting the troops reduced and easing tensions in the Middle East because he's been a military guy all his life.
Military people contrary to popular opinion don't like war because they are the ones dying while the rest of you watch on television.
McCain hates war more than any of you will ever dream.
Obama is a idiot dolt. A Marxist blindly following the works of Marx and Lenin. A very dangerous road to follow.

Clean burning Coal, an oxymoron.
War is Peace, another oxymoron.
The ends justify the means, were have I heard that before? All the lies to justify a war with Iraq, so we can have a secure supply of $5 a gallon gas, massive inflation, less freedom, less liberty?
McCain, there is no honor to be found in Iraq.
McBush, no thanks.
