as a resident of kcmo, i am jealous...these dumb people keep voting light rail down...we need this...kansas city is growing, downtown is growing....we have so many new things going up...and this is one we really need....ASAP, shout out to stl for making this happen....we are catching up to you..but we have a ways to go
KC may never get light rail, but who knows. If it happened, it would be far in the future. KC is looking to tear down our airport and build a new one, so light rail may be pushed to the back of the line. AMC has not yet moved. They are expected to move to the Kansas side in 2013, unless KC, MO gives AMC an offer they can't refuse. MO & KS have been battling alot with businesses moving back and forth across the state line. The new Mayor of KCMO has said that he will work to stop this
@acdcrocksinkc Thats really sad to hear that KS is trying to literally rape KC of its jobs and its downtown..... Hope your new mayor stops it as if it can't be stopped.....Lord knows what will happen
I was pleasantly surprised to see this about St. Louis. I live in Kansas City and didn't even know that this existed. I am hoping that KC will get on board with a modern transit system (light rail). Downtown KC is continuing to grow along with all of the suburban areas. I believe it is something that will be needed for KC to grow, and attract businesses and people to visit and live.
@acdcrocksinkc I agree. I moved here two years ago and I was shocked to learn that St. Louis had a transit system too. I'm from the DC area and we have Amtrak, along with commuter rail and the Metro subway system and I am a firm believer in the benefits of having a light rail system or just a rail system in general. The St. Louis Metorlink system is really good and I hope it continues to grow. If Kansas City continues to grow, maybe we will see one out there as well.
@acdcrocksinkc KC will unfortunately will not get light rail, as KC is not in need of it. I hope Downtown KC doesn't go down where STL did in 1998-2006 cause i have heard of several anchor tenants fleeing Downtown for Overland Park and burbs. But did AMC really move?
Of all the things that have went wrong in St Louis at least the managed to develop a great modern light rail system. A lot of folks dont know that St Louis has a subway
@louky264 I agree. I moved here two years ago and I was shocked to learn that St. Louis had a transit system outside of Amtrak. The light rail system here is great and I like how some of the downtown stations are underground. It's light rail but its built like a subway as well.
@Nexis4Jersey Very clean. Clean in the literal sense in that these trains are some of the cleanest I've ever seen, and clean in the sense that the security does a decent job of dealing with crime, although they do get a bit overzealous sometimes.

@acdcrocksinkc I'm very proud of it. Just thought it was funny you've been there many times and never knew about the metrolink.
