Was great to see all the old doctors together. Such a shame that they didnt do more. This one feels like it was filmed by a high school student at the local carnival.
Even if it's just a Children in Need Special the writers of this (including veteran Dr Who-producer John Nathan-Turner of all people!) should be ashamed of themselves. How they can make something so messy and incoherent in only 15 minutes is beyond me, they totally ruined a great chance to have so many of the original doctors together.
..yeah agree with below..I think this was JNT last gasp that nearly kept Doctor Who from coming back. RTD was right..it needed a significant break before it could be brought back..also this makes me happy Doctor Who missed MOST of the 90s
@BurningPotatoFilms As you please. I view every incomprehensible story as a challenge to use my imagination to fill in the missing bits. This was actually quite easy to follow: Rani traps Doctors, companions shift in and out of each other, Doctors start to figure out what's going on, Rani sends zombie clones to stop him, Doctor works out a way to defeate her, Doctor saves the universe.
Hold on a minuate. I've watched this at least three times now, but I still haven't figured out what the Rani was trying to do. Use the brainprints of every living creature to transfer a massive time tunnel through the greenwich meridian to control evolution? Who came up with that?
@YorickMesch The Rani, of course. She's always been one for bizarre schemes. Apparently she was breeding edible human/cow hybrids in Ancient Egypt at one point. Whattaya want, she's a mad scientist!
@YorickMesch I think basically she was trying to use the power in the time tunnel to reboot the universe and then fill it with her own genetically-engineered, mind-controlled lifeforms. Not too unlike what the Doctor himself did recently, only without the genetically-engineered, mind-controlled lifeforms, of course.
@all13Doctors You mean Frobisher, and that has been speculated. But I think what was really happening was that the companions were swapping places with each other so rapidly within the time loop that they were actually starting to share memories so that for all intents and purposes they were "turning into" each other.
@MaskedMan66 Dude seriously that comment I made was over a year ago, and dont tell me what I can or cant display, Im intittled to express my own opinion thank you very much
@mintyspace 11 months (which is what it says next to your comment at the time of the comment I'm making now) is under a year.
"Don't tell me what I can or can't display." You mean the way you're not telling me what to do.
There is such a thing as a badly-informed opinion which one really should keep to one's self because it flies in the face of the blindingly obvious. Sure you're "intittled" to it, but that doesn't mean the rest of us are entitled to it.
@MaskedMan66 Boo whoo, you over it yet now youve had a whing, or do you need some tissues to wipe away the tears, seriously dude, your very sensitive, dont have a cry or any thing. Go get laid or something, go enjoy life, rather than flicking through comments made 11 months ago, gee you must have way to much time on your hands, peace out.
@mintyspace LOL!! Laddie, you are too funny for words; Noel Edmonds should hire you.
It's always amazed me how people will harp on the age of their comments. Okay, so you left it 11 months ago; I only discovered it 3 days ago. You should be happy someone's paid attention to you.
I do enjoy life; part of what I enjoy is talking to people, and for better or worse, a lot of talking is done online now. But fear not: I enjoy the physical elements of life too. Get laid? PFFFT! Get married! It's fun!
Wow. I'm not an 'Enders fan, and I don't recognise quite all the companions (anyone before Sarah Jane, and anyone after Mel, in fact), so I didn't recognise everyone, but I'm going to break tradition here and say... I liked this.
Actually, "The Gunfighters," "Planet of Evil," "Time Flight," and most of the origina; series' last season ("Ghost Light" and "The Curse of Fenric" in particular) make this look like Shakespeare.
I actually enjoy Dimensions in Time, because it's a bit of fun!
However, I have one question - what was Noel Edmonds talking about at the beginning of the video? I heard that therre was some sort of vote, but I didnt understand what it was about, or how Mandy helped the Doctor! Then again, this was shown a year before I was born.
@fluffysbro The public were invited to call the number provided and vote for which Eastenders character would help the Doctor, Big Ron or Mandy with proceeds going to Children in Need. Mandy received the highest vote (she was the one who intervened between the Rani and Liz at 2:07)
@fluffysbro There were two "EastEnders" characters, Big Ron and Mandy, each of whom filmed a scene in which they rescue Liz Shaw from the Rani. Viewers got to vote on which character would be seen in the special as it went out, and Mandy won.
When I saw this at Visions in Chicago in 1993, they actually showed the Big Ron version, so I've seen both!
It was split into two parts and since it was for Children in Need, the public were asked to phone in and vote on who would help the Doctor escape from Part One's cliffhanger. The phonelines generated money for the charity but I remember feeling a little cheated when all she did was say "Leave her alone."
Just watching it again - I get it - they're actually swapping. But when they have two companions in the same scene that makes it a little confusing. Also how would one companion know who they were before hand - as they aren't the same person like the Doctor. Who said "It'll overload" just as the Seventh Doctor is getting into his TARDIS?? Sounded like it was added in later.
Who is the woman that was dragged into 'The Vic'? Also, who was the 'hippy' woman? He asked what form she was in and she said "Romana" - aren't they all Romana!?! (If it was her).
The woman dragged into the Vic was Romana. The 'hippy' was Leela. I think she was asked what form she had been as the companion had been changing as the Doctor had. But it was all very muddled ;-)
@Tanru2000 "Hippy?" That was Leela, in full Shobogan kit straight from Gallifrey. The Rani kidnapped Romana while her TARDIS was disguised as the Vic, then Romana was timeshifted away and Leela took her place so rapidly that she remembered everything Romana did; in a sense, Romana "turned into" Leela.
what a load of old fuck and shit. dimensions in time was designed to be forggoton about fans, in fact. i dont know why im watching this one. time crash was much better than this old piece of SHIT
It wasn't too bad. I feel like Pertwee stepped back into the role the BEST of the Five, although Peter and Colin were excellent as well. Tom was pretty sad in the intro.
No Dalek was in it because, for whatever reason, the rights to use the Daleks in that special were not obtained. (The Daleks are not owned by the BBC...)
Can anyone tell me how to get material from a VHS tape onto a computer? I need to know how for various reasons, but one of them is because I've got Part One of "Dimensions in Time" recorded, and I may be able to upload it.

OMG. My two favourite shows colliding in a delightfully horrid way. LMAO...absolutely the best rubbish I've ever wasted 14 minutes of my life watching. Thanks for sharing! :)
I liked this story, Though some of the companions have changed so much. That one at the end before Ace I didn't even reconise (Ive seen every companion in a story apart from Kamelion) I thought that they should have done an eight doctors in 2003 without Pertwee, Hartnell and Troughton. Thankyou for uploading :-)
well lets be glad that the tv show is back on the air as people will forget this pile of rubbish ! who except for the most devoted fan would be interested in it !
The Five Doctors was a celebration, but can still be considered canon, whereas this was created several years after Doctor Who was cancelled and was never any more than a wacky idea in theory or practice. The best comparison this has is the Jim'll Fix It Sontarans episode, with that kid Garth Jenkins materialising in the TARDIS and saving the day by pressing a button that releases steam at the aliens!
The 3D wasn't done with the conventional method of two slightly different pictures in different colours (which is useless for people without the glasses) but works on the basis of the eye detecting lighter objects before darker objects, with the actors and picture moving in a deliberate way so that when viewed with the glasses the trick does work.
The 3D effect worked any time something in the foreground was moving from left to right, or anything in the background was moving from right to left. Anything moving left-right seemed closer with the glasses, and anything moving right-left seemed further away. This meant that either the actors or the camera had to be moving constantly, and makes the experience very dizzying! However it did seem groundbreaking at the time, I remember!
Another fantastic episode from the pen of John Nathan Turner.

I liked this story, Though some of the companions have changed so much. That one at the end before Ace I didn't even reconise (Ive seen every companion in a story apart from Kamelion) I thought that they should have done an eight doctors in 2003 without Pertwee, Hartnell and Troughton. Thankyou for uploading :-)

funny to see Pauleen Fowler and Cathy Beale alive and well in Albert Square in 2013 when they're dead in 2007

Just began watching "The Five Doctors" posted by isweedan, strange that very few people call that one crap. Its all good
marlowekit 4 years ago
dude, you cannot compare The Five Doctors to this!!!
smurfymcsmurf 4 years ago
The Five Doctors was a celebration, but can still be considered canon, whereas this was created several years after Doctor Who was cancelled and was never any more than a wacky idea in theory or practice. The best comparison this has is the Jim'll Fix It Sontarans episode, with that kid Garth Jenkins materialising in the TARDIS and saving the day by pressing a button that releases steam at the aliens!

Oh my giddy aunt! Great to see it but...

Oh come on, it wasn't that bad, actually it was a bit of fun!

Is this the worst Doctor Who ever, or Twin Dilemma? Maybe Love&Monsters... no, it's this one.

Come on! Surely there's no contest?

(woo its working now)
Its quite confusing though :(
I dont know where the 3D glasses would have worked
And i dont get the ending.... it just like oh no there in trouble and then he figures it out very quickly
annd only the 3rd doctor looks the same!
Argh stupid idea, but i mean im (kinda) glad to have seen it
smurfymcsmurf 4 years ago
The 3D wasn't done with the conventional method of two slightly different pictures in different colours (which is useless for people without the glasses) but works on the basis of the eye detecting lighter objects before darker objects, with the actors and picture moving in a deliberate way so that when viewed with the glasses the trick does work.
timrollpickering 4 years ago
No no i know how they work i just couldnt pick up where in the story they would be effective
smurfymcsmurf 4 years ago
The 3D effect worked any time something in the foreground was moving from left to right, or anything in the background was moving from right to left. Anything moving left-right seemed closer with the glasses, and anything moving right-left seemed further away. This meant that either the actors or the camera had to be moving constantly, and makes the experience very dizzying! However it did seem groundbreaking at the time, I remember!
