hmm you know what? i dont think its the music that lacks the originallity, i think its the lyrics. if you listen, the music is still FANTASIC, even if it is a bit slower... but this album lacks something lyrically, passion, drive, focus, . . a purpose? think about songs like drive warning dig love hurts consequence meglomaniac i wish you were here nice to know you... really anything pre this latest release and each song is a story, a message, something moving. This album is about groupies &kids

I listen to this song and adolescents and both invoke in me the same feelings their other lyrically strong songs did, like Dig, Warning, Drive etc. I think of course like any bands some songs have a deeper impact than others, but this song totally holds true to their other greats. One song of Incubus I'm not a big fan of cause I feel it's kind of shallow is Black Heart Inertia. But it's still enjoyable to sing along to.

@KushChosen I agree with you. Promises Promises doesn't seem deep, no. Sounds to me in a way that song is coming from a memory, or feelings he had as a younger adult. Note in the beginning he speaks about 23. The album is different for sure, I think In the Company of Wolves to me talks about their change over the years. "The boy is gone lets grieve and let him go" Maybe who brandon was during Make Yourself for example? "Somethings wrong when it all remains the same". <-- Good point.

It's all about Brandon's sexiness now and the music is way less original than it used to be at least since ligth grenedes. Their music has gotten less original over time but not by much. And in my opinion there music has gotten alot better in terms of maturity and consistency. Idk why everyone says fungus amongus and Science were there best albums. There were alot of unlistenable bad songs beneathe those two albums. Unlike there work after that.

For everybody who wants to keep talking shit on this album, I say open up your mind. If you're a true Incubus fan then you should know they try to do something different with each album. And at this point in their career it makes sense that they would do a more mellow album, which I think is amazing. Not my favorite, but it's still really good, and if you can't see the good in the album just because of your bias from past Incubus albums, then you just plain suck.
