  • this song is unfortunately describing my life :(

  • @TheCherrywine21 :( i feel your pain friend

  • @joannats1 it is very sad :( but its 2012 now lets make it good, happy new year joannats1 :)

  • @TheCherrywine21 HAPPY NEW YEAR?????! FOR YOU! FOR ME IS EVERYTHINK DEAD! I M FEELING JUST LIKE THE PHANTOM ! :'(

  • @joannats1 maybe right now you are but its not always going to be like that ok.

  • :*-(

  • Essta cancion me da mucha pena. pobbre erik

    christine is just a fool

  • Is this a take off of "No one would listen" , the song that Gerard Butler originally sings????? It sounds a lot like it. But anyways, i think gerard did a beautiful job of portraying the phantom in a new way, can you imagine if he was a hideous old man in this movie? The story would not be as powerful, and that is for SURE. If the phantom was a gross and terrifying man, the story would not be as romantically-tragic. He did a beautiful job <3

  • </3 this song make me wanna cry just because of the movie. Erik wouldn't have to ask me twice to marry him. i would have chosen him in a heartbeat over the wimp raoul. just let raoul drown.

  • @guacamole963 Ok, so you want to marry a 50 year old man that lives in a sewer when you are about 16-18? I'm not hating on Erik, but I'm just saying.

  • @Kyaco2Paco well truth is, i'd only want to marry him because its gerard butler.if i were given the option to marry the original 1925 phantom there would be no earthly way i would. i think butler did amazing in this movie despite his hideous facial makeup. and when he sings music of the night i just turn the volume up, close my eyes and melt :) this movie just makes the whole story romantic and lovely. chances are i wouldnt marry a murdering ugly old guy but i would marry this one in this movie

  • In other words, I connect to Erik's scenario of being mysterious and what lies behind our past.

  • i read some where that the phantom was a kid who lived in the opera house and one day the latern filled with oil fell down and hit him in the face i dont know if that is right but thats what i heard somewhere

  • i think she went with raoul coz he was a safe option her love with the phantom was dark wild and passionate

  • You know, the only reason he had to "learn to be lonely" was because the world would not except him as he was. It's not his fault he had a birth defect, lots of people have them. This song really shows how he's feeling. I, like many others, have cried for hours over this song, and we won't stop until they make a movie that has him accepted in the end! Who's with me??? Please comment back.

  • @christinegrrl I agree with you. I feel that way when I was little I used to hide in the shadows, I was bullied, ridiculed by other children... I did not have any friends until I was 8 years old.. all because of my mental illness. I realized it a world can be a cruel and careless but there is love and care somewhere in this world... I learn to be lonely for reason sometimes it can take time to time.

  • @LicorniaGoddess09 I am very sorry, but now I hope you have many good friends and are not treated harshly. I see how you can relate. Maybe you should right your story in a women version of phantom of the opera. Just a thought.

  • Phanton you is my Hero!, erick You is all for me! You is I and I am You

  • is it the same song as no one would listen or a diffrent song that sounds exactly like it with diffrent words

  • 0:20 - 0:30 just makes me cry soooo much

  • Three people haven't learned to be lonely. They don't know how Erik feels!

  • I love this song. FUN FACT! This was the only song Minnie Driver, Carlotta, actually sang for. The opera soprano was a different woman. :3

  • It not fairly to do the Phantom such attractive and then to doom him to loneliness

  • I would like to KILL Raoul and burn Half of Christines face!

  • @Phivana1 Hah! I agree with you! I would LOVE to burn half of Christine's face--see how she feels!

  • @RaySingh87 I know right!!???

  • I can never forgive Christine for choosing Raoul

  • i love this song......so beautiful

  • love this song makes me want to go up to erik and say u deserve better than christine heres me lol!!!!

  • Who sings it?

  • @theveronika1 minnie driver

  • omg i'm gonna cry!!!!

    eric is my <3

  • ERIK!!!!!!!!!!! You don't deserve to be alone!!!!!!!! Why Christine WHY!!!!!! HOW COULD YOU PICK THAT Long haired Pansy/Mr. Girly-hair who can't sing worth a flip UGH!!!! Where's my Punjab your goin' down you left Erik!!!!

  • @BarrelRacingAngle Ahh but that thinking gets you disasters like Love Never Dies....BE careful what you wish for!!!

  • This song's tune is almost exactly like "No One Would Would Listen" (the cut song from POTO)

  • this song really speaks tome, and encompasses the same way I feel

  • Hey. PSSTTT. EVERYONE.

I know we are upset, because we ALL know it's suppose to tragic and dumb ending to have Raoul and Christine together. But I'm going to tell you a not so secret "secret". Go watch Love Never Dies, the sequel. ErikxChristine fans are MORE than pleased<3

  • @AlanaCorey

    Haha. Thank you!

  • @AlanaCorey I LOVE Love Never Dies...I personally can't understand how people don't like it.

  • I think Christine and Erik look better together then Christine and Raoul. Erik always showed his love to Christine by making her the star of his operas. He is a wonderful genius. I think Erik would need someone by his side. I would do what ever it took to keep him happy. He has a beautiful singing voice.

  • Наплакалась всласть....

  • i would never leave Erik's side to be with a Pathetic man like Raoul, I Love You Erik!!!

  • i dont kno whats sadder. this song and timing. or the fact that Christine left him to be with Raoul.

  • People. Mr. Webber did not write this story, it was a book before it was ever a play.

    Do some bloody research.

  • animerox1995 u are speaking as I would

  • @DamnedMissDisaster Im already crying...2 hard. I HATE RAOUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @balletluve WHY does it have to end that way?!?!?????

  • @DamnedMissDisaster Does it matter if they pay attention? Webber could change it a little. At least so theres not a serious kiss between Christine and the fop

  • @DamnedMissDisaster dont matter. Shall we go and hunt him and raoul down. Maybe Leroux while were at it?

  • @DamnedMissDisaster yes we would!! Well lets hunt Webber down!!!

  • @DamnedMissDisaster I'll go 4 the lips! You make him bald. I'll take his lips off so he cant kiss Christine!

  • @DamnedMissDisaster Do you want me 2 slap Webber? I got it!! If he's real...When I die, Im slapping Raoul!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3 people have no respect for the phantom >:(

  • @DamnedMissDisaster I know. I slap his image whenever I see it. As the character or not. And Im talking any Raoul. Even when Erik really is the bad guy

  • @DamnedMissDisaster to give us more entertainment.Grrr. If he was alive I would KILL LEROUX for writing the book that way. And Im gonna kill WEbber 4 making his like the book.

  • Im going to kill Raol and Christine. Raoul for taking Christine away from Erik,. And Christine for choosing the fop

  • I absoloutely love this song

  • Here is a little bit of what he does Christine:

"And, when I turned away my head and begged for mercy, he it to him, brutally, twisting his dead fingers into my hair. Then he hissed at me. 'Ah, I frighten you, do I? I daresay! Perhaps you think that I have another mask? Well!' he roared 'tear it off as you did the other! Come! Come along! I insist! Your Hands!' And he seized my hands and dug them into his awful face! He tore his flesh with my nails, tore his terrible dead flesh with his nails!'

  • Iv listened to this song far to many times to count. And I still burst in2 tears when ever I hear it. DDDDDDD:

  • I cant watch his again.I'll die.Ive cryed so much my body is COMPLETELY out of water

  • HE DID NOT DESERVE WHAT CHRISTINE GAVE HIM...WHICH WAS A BROKEN HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song makes me really sad... I would always be there for Erik <3.

  • @Wolfgirl037 that makes two of us

  • @balletluve that makes 3

  • he's a great actor, Gerard Butler.. no doubt about it

  • Erik must learn, and so must I.

  • Three people missed the like button. :] Either that, or they're deaf.

  • @Bijuu10Espada4 yea they might be or they have no taste in music

  • Erik is better with Meg .she'd appreciate him. did you hear of the phantom sequal?

  • @YESHUAISMERCIFUL I heard it tanked... =/

  • @Bijuu10Espada4

it did, but it sounded pretty awesome to me. like a crazy fanficiton.

  • @YESHUAISMERCIFUL Hahaha xDD I thought so too!! Hahaha...I seriously said: "This sounds like something from Quizilla or FanFiction!!" xDD hahaha I'm glad someone agrees with me haha

  • @YESHUAISMERCIFUL I've heard of it, but I'm worried they'll ruin it... I'll definitely listen to the music though!! :D

  • @YESHUAISMERCIFUL true bout the meg and erik thing but in the sequal the Phantom is Hispanic or Persain

  • @Vampwolf32951 no. He's travelled to those places. Read Phantom by Susan Kay. He's actually French

  • @ShaynaMKeith Wheres the love button

  • I have to say, this movie...hell the opera in general is amazing. I absolutely fell for the phantom when i saw it. I cried.. He has passion for music, a passion not many can say they could ever posses...true genious

  • yeah, this ending is perfect, of course, everyone feels sorry for the Phantom, but making him the victim and force him to escape, and then suddenly disappear, also helps to maintain that mystery about him, that has been the feeling through the whole movie. it's sad, but this way the character becomes immortal, like Dracula, Frankenstein, King Kong (even though he dies in the end) I mean, you need to have some sort of cost but also redemption for the choices he makes.

  • Erik is the man.......to choose.

  • Raul is a fop, Erik is sexy and can actualy share with Christine their love of music. he is not evil. He is what the world made him. I belive he would cherrish Christine far more then the fopo Raul. Seriously he is a total wuss in the book but Erik, Erik is enchanting.

  • ...Life can be lived... life can be loved...alone...

  • -Sniff-

  • Unlike (apparently) most of the people here, I think Christine choosing Raoul makes the ending better, but I feel bad for the Phantom, he's a tragic person...

  • this video makes me cry!!!

  • poor Erik. *cries*

  • i feel so bad for phantom. this just shows that a persons appearence is more important to some than true feelings of love.

  • man i was cyring because of this. i fell so bad for Erik.

  • erik should had never had to learn to be lonely!!!

    christine and erik forever!!!!

  • @eriksangelofmusic98 christine doesn't deserve him. she doesn't have enough depth. Erik deserves so much more. what i don't understand is why he only felt christine understood him (as it said in No One Would Listen) when Madame Giry did. she thought of him as a genius.

  • I love this song. It touches my heart in a way that no other song ever has!

  • This song.... It is perhaps the first song to ever make me cry.

    I absolutely love this piece.

  • This movie is amazing, Margaret Preece (Carlotta's singing) is good and Minnie driver amazing!

  • I hate the ending too. She should have so pick Eric he knows the meaning of love and he is so much more hotter.

  • beautifully done video..nice scene /lyric arrangement:) This is my favorite movie.

  • Beautiful song.

    fav.

  • I will be there for you...and I'll be your comfort and care ...

    Why don't you trust me?

  • Love never dies is the sequel. 9 of March in London. November in Broadway .

  • I look forward to seeing it some time soon!! It sounds great!! :)

  • pps. when i said they said they might make a sequal in 2005...i meant that they were commenting about it not saying they wanted to MakE one in 2005.....and btw i wouldn't mind a sequal it would be something i would give a shot at seeing...but still lol

  • btw they said they MIGHT make a sequal in 2005.....still though that was FIVE YEARS AGO LOL :D sry for all who disagree

  • no offense to people who are all for the sequal but....this just is a type of movie they can't make a sequal to....they just CAN'T....if you get what i mean its just a type of movie you just shouldn't even attempt to make a sequal too.....and if you do.....your fired. lol :) but seriously they would just be dumb to try and make a sequal the first version was in THE NINETEEN TWENTIES! sadly at this point there is no hope for a sequal and boo this comment all you want im not changing my mind.sorry

  • @PhantomloverSNAFU Sequel already exists: Love Never Dies by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Opened in the West End in London last month.

  • @turandot82 ok now THAT is a title that kills! i still don't think they should have made the sequel but oh well...hopefully it comes to new york by summer time. :) hey...u never know it could be really good i am giving this a shot :)

  • @turandot82 That can't be possible. Not if you're talking about the book. It says a week later Erik died of a broken heart.

  • @KMK2244; No they tell you in the book if you read it

  • Do they say his name is Erik in the movie?

  • amazing movie!!! I suggest the book Phantom by susan kay. its absolutely the best read i have even set eyes on.

  • and one of the most beautiful songs ever written !!! When I see so poor , sweet and lovelyu phantom, I always want to cry. The only one person who could make him happy, denied him.

  • This is my favorite movie! the most beautiful movie that human mind ever made!

  • This is one of the saddest most moving movies I have ever seen. My top three ?

    1. Titanic

    2. The Phantom of The Opera

    3. romeo and Juliet

those thee = the reason for my existence

  • i would be there for him! no matter what! i love erik! He deserves Christine!

  • @animerox1995 Then you my dear, are rare. For in the real world, it strikes me that a woman's primary concerns are with convention, status. And the superficial. - Extreme's in temperament, are often shunned, regardless of the reasons behind them, irrespective of whether or not the heart of a truly beautiful soul beats in that chest. And regardless of how the man might look. Women will turn their back to find something easier and more conventional. They won't fight for that heart.

  • a mais linda historia de amor que ja vi, christine e o fantasma!!!!!!!

  • Yeah its the greatest movie I've ever seen. I just hate the ending because we don't get Christine and Erik aka the Phantom together in the end. Instead the stupid victome boy who should die. And he is not a homicidal maniac. He just doesn't know what the real wrong doing is. He only knows what he has learned from the world. He's a genius. He's smarter than Albert Enstein. So don't diss my Erik before you've seen him.

  • @BellaCullen921

While he may be smart, how could you condemn christine to a life with him? although he may be sweet. His conception of reality is twisted, and she could be in serious danger. and as most of you who have seen the movie know, that if he doesnt get what he wants he throws rather violent tantrums... but interesting theory.

  • @BellaCullen921 Have u seen what happens in ALW sequel. It brilliant but also really tragic for Phantom and Christine fans.

  • @BellaCullen921 i think this song shouldve been sung by christine to erik to end the movie. Instead of Raul and Christine rowing off into the sunset she sould have sung it to him when she gave him her ring. Would have been a much better way to end the movie and would give a nice bittersweetness to it. Thumbs up if you agree x

  • @BellaCullen921 exactly he doesnt know better

  • @BellaCullen921 I am sorry but Raoul was the right choice. If you read Leroux's book you should see that. I do not know if you have but if you have not I think you should, it was a great book. :)

Back to point: Erik is just a creepy dude and is almost 50 years old. He should know what is right or wrong. He is also so horrible to Christine. :/ Just my opinion please no angry or rude comments.

  • @Boblett285 That is so true and i think he was like 60 in the book. Idk but she is better off with Raoul.

  • @Wolfgirl037 Why does everyone dislike Raoul anyway? The flaming is hot enought to burn my eyebrows off! D:

But on the chapter Apollo's Lyre when Christine rips off his mask he is horrible to her.

  • @Boblett285 Unfortunately, in Leroux's novel, you are right. He is terrible to her, but he did love her immensely. Regardless of how he treated her, he didn't know how to treat her. It was sad, and he was lost. Raoul, is very caring in the novel, and not as annoying either...

  • @AlanaCorey This happens a lot in real life: a man finds someone, loves her, mistreats her, so she runs off to find someone who can treat her the way she deserves to be treated. Her ex gets hurt, yes, but if he's got his head screwed on correctly, he can learn from his mistake and move on.

I feel bad for Erik, but really there's no excuse for bad behavior from a grown man. Christine was right to run.

  • @LaylaLace Did Erik ever know what it was like to be a grown man? He never learned, never had any form of guidance to help him. There is a significant argument I can make on how he does have an excuse.

  • @BellaCullen921 Im with ya BellaCullen921. Im with ya!

  • @BellaCullen921 Easy to say that from an outward perspective. If you were Christine, you would probably feel terrified of the phantom and would've picked Raoul. Yes, he's vulnerable, but most people who commit crimes like the ones he did always have a reason for it. People who kill are often not just homicidal maniacs. The phantom just wanted to be loved and he cared for Christine, but his actions are what kept her away. He was manipulating her and taking advantage of her.

  • @BellaCullen921, I totally agree with you. I think Christine looks a lot better with Erik. The Victome boy Raoul was totally being a show off when he said that he was going to protect Christine from Erik. Erik is a genius. He writes operas. He was always lonely when he was a child. He should have taken Christine and let her never forget that he was her teacher. Raoul never knew how life was for Erik. Christine should have never betrayed Erik. Erik loved Christine will all his heart.

  • ive never seen this movie..is it good?

  • Its the best movie of all times! Of course, if you like musicals. It has the best music and love story. If you like things like that you will love the movie.

  • It is one of the greatest movie I,ve ever seen. I've never cried so much because so wonderfull emotions !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought the movie a couple of days ago and I can't stop watching it. AMEZING, AWESOME. i don't know what to say...

  • i would have married the phantom. Raul was a pansy. a najor one. The phantom was perfect. And I can relate a bit to his life and how he felt about it. poor phantom.........makes me cry every time

  • no offense, but you would have married the homicidal maniac? Although he is a snappy dresser...

  • because i can identify to what he had been through. And its not the outside. I look at the inside. I understand why he was like that. and he's a geniuos. He is so smart and cunning. I have been where he has been and i have felt as he has felt. Its a deeper emotional feeling. A feeling os compassion. Mercy. Grace. and Love.

  • I can too, but he's a homicidal maniac! He kills more people in the book. If you haven't read the books, you wouldn't understand how much of a monster he is. He kills upwards of 20 people and burns down the entire opera house. I personally think that Christine should have ditched them both, the prancing fool and the dark genius.

  • I understand your point but he did love Christine in the book and I do quote, "I am dying of love." He loved her but she never loved him. In the movie and play Andrew Lloyd Webber made it seem like she did but in the book she was horrified of him.

  • Certainly! I could change him, though I seriously doubt that...you never know. People can change.

  • @handuin3 I know what you're talking about. He IS a snappy dresser.

  • Tengo las partituras de esta obra...pero nunca la habia escuchado!

gracias por subir el video! :)

  • :T

I would date the Phantom... >__>

Screw the Christen girl or w/e, :D

  • poor phantom...nothing ever really went right for him, did it?

  • that was so sad :(

  • great video!

the song is very nice too! so sad and sweet!

  • its so like Life to do this. "learn to be lonely" indeed. you can love someone with all your soul, every single atom of your body, and more often than not, you... end up with nothing. nothing but the pain of memories and unfulfilled dreams *sighs* hard to cling to hope after having your heart crushed, especially as Erik has. and people wondered why he went a little round the bend... *twitch* ahem. sorry, extremely protective of that dear man. anyone up for time travel and a search party?

  • It's a sweet song, but I prefered it as "No one would listen" it just tells you so much more about the Phantom.

  • I also heard it was based of a book called phantom of manhatten or something

  • I think it was based on the book from the 1920s, "Le Fantôme de l'Opéra", by Gaston Leroux. Or atleast that's the book most of the adaptations are based on.

  • it's nothe sequel to the movie it's the sequel to the 1986 musical. I think it's called Phantom: Love Never Dies

  • This song never ceases to give me shivers and get me in tears.

  • Why?

  • I wanna see the sequel but it comes out in March 2010 and lets just say i live on the other side of the country

  • Sequal? o.o Are you freaking serious?!

  • yep. freakin serious. I don't know how ALW can make a sequel to this but......

  • Maybe it's about Christine's and Raoul's child? And s/he help to make another abused child sing?... I dunno. Just a thought.

  • it's supposed to be something about the phantom being a designer or something for a circus? and like something about him inviting christine over to america...(it takes place in coney island i think...?)

  • But Christine is dead... How is that to work?

  • Not according to the play. the play ends when they leave the lair.

  • In the movie she is dead. Not in the actual play on Broadway.

  • yes, you are almost exactly right.

  • Ohhh... Okays. I didn't know that. Sorry..

  • He doesn't have to be lonely! He has fangirls!

  • Poor ,poor phanthom , so

    unfortuned and romantic man.!

    Beautiful story!

  • its too bad he has to learn to be lonely:(

    poor Erik!!!

  • god.. i cant wait for the flipping sequel!

  • thanks to her? why?

  • i love it

    it is realy cool

  • yea of course.. sorry...

    i wrote it wrong..

  • I love this song.

    So sad and beautiful.

You keep on singing Minnie driver,

  • beautiful song

  • i am crying right now.

  • btw the guy who plays phantom is name gerard butler but love the vid!
