Any skateboarders remember this song from LONG TIME AGO? The intro to the Emerica skate video? Reynolds, Herman, Long, Templeton, Ellington, Townend, Kirtchart and the rest of the team?!
GAH! Good days, that's the first time I ever hard this song. It wasn't until like 5-6 years later I discovered Tortoise haha.
The song is great but the video is what makes it even more fascinating. I love how it focuses on the most complex calculations, science, and technology that mankind has accomplished. It really makes me realize how incredibly genius some humans are and how i wish i could do something as magnificently precise.
Having heard the song prior on the Standards album and enjoying it very much, seeing this video for the song for the first time a while back absolutely moved me. The use of archival NASA footage definitely goes harmonoiusly with the music (the video gets my kudos for using such in the best way), it provides such a dynamic energy, possibly the same energy of excitement the US felt during the space race in the 60s.....
Bravo to Braden King and Tortoise for making such a masterpiece here.....!
Great music always love what Tortoise puts out.... check out Stereolab another great experimental group. Hey anyone ever think of why we are really in space? I have my clear ideas... ^_^

Back in the 60's we got our asses to space on damn near the same tech and computational power that most modern day schools have at their disposal.
What seems to be the problem, Earth?

Love drums behind and the sound of the recording.
It seems that all his drumset has been created for that only song.
Viva drums.
And don't forget keyboards!
