Being a medical expert is just like being anything else. If you've got the tools, and you've got the will, and you're not drunk, you can do a lot of what a surgeon does. Being a surgeon for a while would give you the same kind of knowledge a doctor has, but it will be a little more refined, since you're actually discovering these issues, and not only reading them from a book you can buy online.
I don't want to help anyone else, but helping myself is fine with me. I'll even do it for free.
The point I'm making is that if everyone wasn't so dumb as to require professional attention for EVERY LITTLE THING, then it wouldn't be so inefficient right now. If people could do their own lab work, that would save them more money, and save other people more time, and if people could handle physical issues themselves (such as nasty cuts and the like), even moreso. and if they could eat right, even better.

Since a minority people have protested against us watching this speech, now its completely banned from my school district. It wasnt even going to be mandatory that all students watch this speech. I wish I was mature enough to drop out of high school when I had the chance. I always believed this "be the best you can be" bullshit. I believed it enough to go through college. All it got me was barely able to hold corporate owned bullshit jobs through the years and unpaid medical bills.
The education system does not work. The smarter ones will pursue an alternate form of education. The ones that are fed up will just drop out.
Saying that you're some sort of traitor to the country for not believing this garbage and dropping out of highschool is so bizarre - Obama is not this country, the government is not this country, WE CITIZENS OF THE USA are this country. It's up for us to decide what's right or wrong for us. Unless your insurance providers decide not to pay for treatment. But you're right, here in England, were we have a nationalised health service, we have to make appointments, que for upwards of 10, sometimes even 15 minutes, get good care AND a pleasant service. It's hell, I tell you.
What I really want is healthcare that I'm unwilling or unable to use because of the ridiculous cost, so that underlying problems end up killing or bankrupting me. That would be true heaven.

Being a medical expert is just like being anything else. If you've got the tools, and you've got the will, and you're not drunk, you can do a lot of what a surgeon does. Being a surgeon for a while would give you the same kind of knowledge a doctor has, but it will be a little more refined, since you're actually discovering these issues, and not only reading them from a book you can buy online.
I don't want to help anyone else, but helping myself is fine with me. I'll even do it for free.

What would take you days or weeks to figure out takes a professional minutes, they've dealt with it a thousand times before. The last thing we need is people hurting themselves because they think they can play doctor. I'm all for self sufficiency, but you obviously have no concept of the depth of the medical field.

Also, no, I haven't thought it through too much, because it's not my profession. However, I have thought about it a lot more than most, and my conclusions give me that warm fuzzy feeling of confidence in my ability to mitigate most medical maladies.
Besides, the depth of the medical field as it truly is, is beyond you. I doubt you've had the same experiences I have had, coming from a long line of doctors, nurses, medical administrators, and researchers. It's ok, though, that's not your fault.

Since a minority people have protested against us watching this speech, now its completely banned from my school district. It wasnt even going to be mandatory that all students watch this speech. If we didnt feel comfortable watching it, we would have been free to leave. I mean c'mon, im 15 yrs old. I can't see why people are attacking this. It was a brilliant speech. Obama would not have got to where he is without an education. There are schools that have Principles or the Superintendent talk to kids about education, why not the President of the United States. My 14 yr old and 10 yr old, came home from school and was so excited to talk to me about his speech. I can see how much it has inspired them. Thank You Obama! I know that this will always stay in their hearts. It meant alot to them.

As a parent, if the president wants to give the kids a pep talk, so be it. I disagreed with about 99% of what Bush did and thought he was the worst president ever but if he had given a similar speech I would have considered it part of his official duty. How come no body freaked out when Ronald Reagan said he liked video games because the eye, hand coordination aspect would make kids good fighter pilots? I would rather hear the president tell students to study than to practice gunnery skills.
