  • It's incredible how clean those double stops at the beginning of the solo violin part are!! Every time I listen to this recording I discover more an more amazing technical things about this violinist. Great tone, perfect intonation, precise tempos, beautiful musicality, etc. Definitely he has to be consider one of the great violinist of the 21st century, if not the greatest. At least he's for me :)

  • what's the name of the orchestra??? also is there any problem with the recording at 5:48 ??

  • its realy great qualiti of sound very expressive kavakos the master i like his filing and frasing super master .....

  • @andrerana8485 time to learn english...

  • Kavakos is the best among the best. Almost flawless. Long live Kavakos!

  • I herd him life ! ! ! he played brahms and then Ysaye no 4 ! ! !

  • I am a lifelong musician and can declare this violinist to be one of the true greats; this is magnificent!

  • He is in fact one of the greatest.

  • Why, why is this man not respected like one of the greatest violonists we have?

  • He is. Those who know, know Kavakos.

  • @raoultak Eh? He is.

  • è il maggio fiorentino!!

  • I just call him as the 13th Greek God. :)

  • My favourite violinist in the world! Bravissimo!

(citta)

  • Wonderful!!!

Kavakos, Mehta and Orchestra of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

  • I think this is the best Brahms Concerto Interpretation on Youtube.

Kavakos anyway is the Master of the Violinists !

He first thinks and then acts (musically) !

He is a music genius !

  • this performace raises the bar for any violinist...

  • incredibile il primo attacco suona di piu di tutta l'orchestra!

  • I'm pretty positive that this piece represents neither technical nor musical difficulty to Mr. Kavakos. His technique is just superior to any living violinist.

  • I TOTALLY agree!!!!

  • @fullargon And why's that?

  • @GKJusticar55 There is a common saying among violinist about Brahms' violin concerto: "you can tell how good the soloist is just by listening to the very first 12 measures of the violin solo part!" And in my opinion, these are the cleanest, more precise, more dramatic, more beautiful in tone, and perfectly tuned first 12 measures of the violin solo part I've ever heard in my life.

  • great orchestra

  • I am sorry ,but i believe that technically Kavakos is equal not to say better that king David Oistrakh.Musicallly is different to Oistrakh.

  • geia sou re nikolaki pou "giou're sorry" kiola!!!

  • yes, it's a lot better...

  • At least, 1-st part. 3-d part is probably at the level of Oistrakh

  • There is no strict definition of what is 'right thing' - even for the case of intonation, not to say about sound and other things. At list, that opinion is expressed in PhD dissertation of Yuri Yankelevich - teacher of Viktor Tretyakov, Vladimir Spivakov and other famous violinists. His Brahms to my opinon is not reaching the level of understanding and of expression as that by Oistrakh.

  • "His interpretation and sound rival Oistrakh's..."

As much as his wrong (technically) right hand allows him.

Anyway, I agree, that Kavakos is excellent violinist, with excellent sound. But he is a bit too free in his interpretations to my opinion. E.g., I don't like the way he plays at 5:40 . Probably, I am mistaken.

  • He's not wrong technically with his right hand. His right hand just looks different because he's left-handed, and it should be kind of difficult for him to use the bow with the this arm. But watch out! Kavakos is more correct technically than Oistrakh and Heifetz. He's almost flawless. And when I say technically more correct I mean to play the right thing at the right moment with the right tempo, rhythm, and intonation, regardless style.

  • unbelievable...His interpretation and sound rival Oistrakh's...That alone says it all.Θεός...

  • wow

    fantastic

  • Au dela du super Strad qu'il a, c'est un super musicien et un super violoniste et mon oncle Zubin l'accompagne à merveille.

    Marc Tettiravou

  • Fantastic!!!!!!..

  • grande pierini spalla!

  • CONFERMO!!!

  • Great performance. Does anyone know the maker of the soloist's violin? It sounds so beautiful.

  • its a new maker. His name is Antony Stradivar :D

  • Very funny! But the violin sounds good any way hahaha

  • Short biography: Antonio Stradivari was born in Washington in 1973. He made his first violin in 1980 at the age of 7, under the supervision of his cousin, Guarnieri. His violins are now sold all around the world and you can find many on ebay.

    hope i helped. Bye

  • pastrocchio90:

so funny. U have been VERY helpful...I guess I cannot find a good violin like this on Ebay ever ! If you happen to find one, let me know and I will buy it from you ! hahaha :)

  • Yeah I heard ebay put Christie's out of business.

  • @DrLuu1972

I can identify it by sight here: it's a G.B. Guadagnini. I can't tell the period without seeing the f-holes straight-on. Guadagnini had 5 periods based upon the cities where he lived, his Cremonese being the shortest period. I don't see ovals in the bottoms of the f-holes, so if I had to make a conjecture, I'd say Turin, after 1780, but this is going out on a limb. My favorites are the early Guadagnini violins from Milan.

  • @BestAmateurViolinist don't pretend the expert because there maybe someone that knows! This is the Falmouth 1691 Strad. Kavakos perchased for first time the "Turin Guadagnini 1780" in 2008 and performed with it for first time in Rheingau, Budapest.

Watch Kavakos playing Dvorak, this one is the Guadagnini

  • @BestAmateurViolinist you're trolling right?

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, this is quite good. Thanks for posting!
