Lanes and Games, Cambridge,MA also uses another rare candlepin pinspotter on the rest of the lanes that did not use the Jayne machine. The other lanes used the AMF 82/95 Candlepinspotter.... The 82/95 was also the fastest as far as the time for the sweep to run through and table to come down with a new set of pins while the Jayne was the slowest....Great place to go if you want to see some of the other rare and remaining and odd pinsetting machines in action...
You were bowling on the last known lanes that used the Jayne candlepin pinsetter. The only other 20 examples of this odd machine were in Holyoke at the Bowl-O-Drome but were removed a few years ago for the more common Bowl-Mor machine. As far as the Jayne machine a couple of the odd things is the pins can fly straight up as there is nothing above them, the next rack of pins is sort of like a wall folding down to reset the new rack, the sweep runs on compressed air and it needs 60 pins to fill.
