David Tomlinson was an absolute master and just WAS an Edwardian gent. Simultaneously authoritative and yet twinkly eyed. A lovely voice too. The part where he relinquishes his post at the bank is one of the most moving in in all of cinema.

David Tomlinson's performance in Mary Poppins has to be one of the most underrated performances in cinema. If not for the great Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, this film would've been Tomlinson's.

Particularly, I always loved Tomlinson's voice. So proud, yet with such showmanship. I wish he had more mainstream roles over his career. He is missed in today's cinema. Rest in Peace, Mr Tomlinson.
