Stille Volk, what in english is "Silent People or Silent Folk" is from the Dutch
The word Volk/People would in German be Menschen or Leute, the word Silent is also used in Germany but can be replaced by: Schweigsam, Lautlos or Ruhig.
That are Silent People, dat zijn stille mensen. Ooit geprobeerd de zin "dat zijn stil mensen" te gebruikt? Dacht het nie
Ligt aan hoe je het wil gebruiken, want gebruik je "Silent People" tegen een groep mensen omdat die stil moeten zijn klopt het wel weer
Stille Volk has nothing to do with german culture. The concept of the band is based on pyrenean folklore. The language used is Occitan which is basically the language spoken by all southern french until 1539 (Ordinance of Villers Cotterêts). Anyway, after that all the people continue to spoke this language at least until early 20th century.
@dragongame2 Still wondering... I guess we should ask them in person. Unfortunately I'm from Paris and it's not close to their place, so... But maybe one day during a gig or something!
@dragongame2 It is a very weird term in german, it are two independent words: silence - people, which doesn't fit into each other. correct german should be "stilles volk" or "schweigendes volk", I think these guys doesn't knew this as the band was fount
@Metaldude1945 well yeah, but it should have the prefix 'het', so it'd be 'het stille volk', and it's not strange to just drop that prefix. It's probably German, but it could be Dutch. Though I guess you're Dutch too :P
Stille Volk is German and means Silent peoples. I'm pretty sure its peoples, instead of people..since Volk refers in a way like "the germanic peoples", Volk is bigger than 'tribe', the word is still used often.

@jacksoncorpsepaint Can still be Dutch, stille volk is correct Dutch. =)
MusicIsUniversal1992 11 months ago
@MusicIsUniversal1992 No it can't be Dutch, 'stille volk' is not a correct deflection. In Dutch it would be 'stil volk'.

A 'Volk' is a Folk.. a tribe.

metalgod1993 2 years ago

metalgod1993 2 years ago
I'd say "silent people", as volk means people. Someone answered to you saying it's "tribe", but "tribe" means "stam".
