@coolshariq I've just noticed that, unless you are in finder, the menu bar won't appear... the window will always appear though. it's a bummer, but still a great app... frack istat menu, they were great until they've became a bunch of greedy pigs.
Thanks for the heads up bro. I used to have iStat for my Mac but was disappointed that iStat has this bug where it does not monitor menu activity when I upgraded to my i7 iMac. This could be a great alternative and will download ASAP.
Although I have not researched and compared all system monitoring software, I have to say that it does everything I would like it to do and it's visually customizable. Great feats!

TBH, I wouldn't worry that much about backing-up. I mean, you should always back-up before any important updates, but it's unlikely something will go wrong during the upgrade considering the installation probably would have been tested thousands of times by Apple.
If nothing goes wrong(which will probably happen), all your files, etc. will still be there...
Also, if you're really worried about your files, I wouldn't take TechTalkGuy's advice, 32GB flash drives cost an outrageous amount of money, and for the purpose of only one or two back-ups you might as well just buy a external HDD for around 70 quid and use time machine to back-up. You'd probably be able to get a 2.5" 250 GB external HDD cheaper than a 32 GB flash drive if you shop around.
Additionally, if you're only worried about some work documents or something, then 2 GBs suffices.

Aye, TalesofWar, Win 7 is turning out nicely. I do have a few minor negative views with it in regards to GUI and how the control panel is set up. Stability has been very good. I may of found a bug that made it blue screen, but haven't tried to reproduce it. A program did crash on it, although I still was able to use the program after it crashed. Back in the day when a windows program crashed the whole OS crashed, this is not longer the case anymore.

leopard launch had issues and still does from firmware problems, to terrible security sadly worse than Windows xp and Vista and 7 combined. I had to force quit to get into finder in Mac os9. Windows 7 has improved I/O management and a smaller kernel if that is not improvement over Windows Xp I don't know what is. Don't say its a memory hog I ran it on 40 megs of ram, OSx failed, and said Darwin parsing error.
OS8 and 9 at the time were more stable and feature rich than Windows, but OS9 espeically suffered from a LOT of virus issues. It had as many viruses for it than Windows did dispite only having like 5% market share, which kind of goes against the "if it has more users it'll get more viruses" argument that people always bring up for OS X. WIndows 7 is an improvment from XP in reguards to usability, it's much nicer to use and is more stable than Vista and uses resources better.

Just kind of asking, is it an Intel Core Duo or at Core 2 Duo. If it's a Core Duo, Snow Leopard would have to run in 32bit because of limitations of that CPU being only 32bit. If your pointing out performance, I do have the latest Win 7 RC running on a 4 year old single core AMD 2Ghz with 1Gb of RAM.

Java was one of the first truely universal API's for all OS's that wished to implement it and it works more or less exactly the same on each system. It's bloated because of this, but it's also a very powerful platform if used properly. The Java vulnerability was patched by Apple by the way with 0 cases of it ever being exploited in the wild.

64bit has a limitation, you can't run 8 bit, and 16bit programs. Kaosum2 is running the 32 bit version. I ran wolf3d on the 32 bit version of windows 7 it worked. never worked on the 64bit because of this limitation.
shit I forgot about the 32 bit verson, but 10.6 will run 32 bit apps, and as well 10.0 apps, if you install rosetta but i can never run 16 bit appps on 32 bit vista or win 7
Why should a 64bit OS support the running of ancient 8 and 16 bit DOS games?
This is why we use emulation and virtualisation. DOSbox runs Commander Keene, Wolf3D, Duke Nukem, and many other DOS games perfectly on Windows, OS X and Linux.
A modern OS should not have to support applications and games which are 15 to 25 years old. Removing the ancient legacy stuff makes things leaner, faster and more reliable.

Either your files will corrupt with-in the week of purchase or it's counterfeited or stolen, etc.

Vista SP2 is little different from the normal Vista. I mean, it's better of course, but it's still Vista.
Leopard Launch had a few issues which were corrected with the first .1 update.
Windows 7 is very little better than Xp. Happy?
OS 8/9 WERE better than Windows. Windows at the time was even less stable then now, basically were like Vista to the power of 10.

no os9/os8 were worse, I crashed it 15 times in a day.
leopard launch had issues and still does from firmware problems, to terrible security sadly worse than Windows xp and Vista and 7 combined. I had to force quit to get into finder in Mac os9. Windows 7 has improved I/O management and a smaller kernel if that is not improvement over Windows Xp I don't know what is. Don't say its a memory hog I ran it on 40 megs of ram, OSx failed, and said Darwin parsing error.

OS8 and 9 at the time were more stable and feature rich than Windows, but OS9 espeically suffered from a LOT of virus issues. It had as many viruses for it than Windows did dispite only having like 5% market share, which kind of goes against the "if it has more users it'll get more viruses" argument that people always bring up for OS X. WIndows 7 is an improvment from XP in reguards to usability, it's much nicer to use and is more stable than Vista and uses resources better.

Fuck your dumb! I'm comparing the speed of something between Snow Leopard, Leopard and Winblows! And I'd also like to say Vista is shit! Look in the C:\Windows folder..it's so fucking crowded. Look the the Apple System folder...it's simple to navigate and file names make sense! Apple runs everything faster with LOWER specs...you need the higher specs b/c your OS sucks...I mean 1.66GHz to record HD on a Mac, 3.0GHz on a PC...that means almost all Intel macs can record HD...not many PCs can.

Just kind of asking, is it an Intel Core Duo or at Core 2 Duo. If it's a Core Duo, Snow Leopard would have to run in 32bit because of limitations of that CPU being only 32bit. If your pointing out performance, I do have the latest Win 7 RC running on a 4 year old single core AMD 2Ghz with 1Gb of RAM.

Java was one of the first truely universal API's for all OS's that wished to implement it and it works more or less exactly the same on each system. It's bloated because of this, but it's also a very powerful platform if used properly. The Java vulnerability was patched by Apple by the way with 0 cases of it ever being exploited in the wild.

No, if you use Win extensively you understand it's limitations and realize that there are better OSes out there.
Build a core i7. Great. Will that remove malware? Instability? The registry? The fact that Windows gets slower with time? Ops, no. Kernel Panic? Never had one, as opposed with BSODs.

64bit has a limitation, you can't run 8 bit, and 16bit programs. Kaosum2 is running the 32 bit version. I ran wolf3d on the 32 bit version of windows 7 it worked. never worked on the 64bit because of this limitation.

Why should a 64bit OS support the running of ancient 8 and 16 bit DOS games?
This is why we use emulation and virtualisation. DOSbox runs Commander Keene, Wolf3D, Duke Nukem, and many other DOS games perfectly on Windows, OS X and Linux.
A modern OS should not have to support applications and games which are 15 to 25 years old. Removing the ancient legacy stuff makes things leaner, faster and more reliable.
