@bnuts677 i got a 87 lx 5.0 automatic and had one of those new civic si pull next to me now my car is basically stock accept for a hotter tune and flexfan okay the civic wanted to race so i just mashed the pedal down was spinning my 225 50 15 tires and still pulled the civic had it by 2 car lenthgs to 80 mph okay keep in mind i only have a total of 1500 in my car that includes the 1200 i paid for the car so bang for the buck mustang wins and i still knock down 20 mpg

Stock explorer heads, stock explorer intake, an a trickflow stage 1 cam. usually ran very low 13's@103-104mph on motor an drag radials. My car weighed exactly 3300 pounds with me inside it, a/c, p/s, p/l, stereo system etc. Wasn't a stripped down race car.
heads/intake manifold/cam and slicks is hardly what i'd call mostly stock. Considering the stock 5.0 heads and im are very restrictive and a source of power loss, those are big mods, regardless if they're OE from another motor. people have some funny definitions of "mostly stock" You cracked open the valley and put a cam in, you're not mostly stock anymore. You cracked the head gasket and replaced the heads... you're not mostly stock anymore.
@w00t692 sorry that 150 dollar explorer heads an intake are a radical upgrade in your book. The car wasn't on slicks either they were nitto drag radials. The trick flow ported heads I had later on along with the holley systemax and anderson motorsports cam were what I would consider far from stock. Unported explorer heads with stock rockers aren't nothin with mustangs honestly, but its cool. think what you'd like cuz ur entitled to your opinions as well.
Price has nothing to do with how stock it is or isn't. Neither does the cam spec. You had to take off both cylinder heads the intake manifold and you replaced the cam. That's not a light job to do on, say, your daily driver.
Anyways, me and you have different opinions of stock. I could cam swap and head swap my car and to you that's not far from stock. To me, regardless of what head or cam you put, you changed out the stock stuff for a reason and it's not a quick mod.

What do you usually trap on a good run? I'm switching out the D8 heads (with 70 cc chambers)on my '82 5.0 for GT40Ps in January. I average 14.20s @ 97-98 mph on stock all-season tires (2.2 60 foot) right now. On my motor i'll gain an entire point of compression (8.3:1 - 9.3:1) from the GT40Ps plus all the extra air flow over the shitty D8s. Hoping to trap in the 101 - 102 range.
@maddbikerboy Stock to stock, the Civic would win, hands down. That's a stock Civic vs a modifed LX. Compare how many Hondas are in the junk yard to how many Fords. Ford out numbers them 6-1, easily.
Leading v4 in its class, with a 195 Hp 2.0 Engine capable of handling a 500 hp turbo. Also with a 11.1 ratio and a 6 speed tranny. Search up turbo Civic si, and then laugh at it.
