@hrhirene yes but its really dangerous to ride without one. one of my friends got a concussion from not wearing a helmet. it wasn’t even a hard fall. she jest landed on her back. just saying it could save your life
@merJewel I know :) This is actually my then-trainer riding, so really, the lecture should probably be directed at her. I personally ride with a helmet and I would be dead at least once if I hadn't been wearing one. But a helmet is a choice, and you can't force someone to wear it if they don't want to. It's up to the individual... particularly when they own the barn!
@hrhirene im not trying to tell you what to do. i just think its safer generally to wear a helmet, its your choice but its a good one to make, and it really can save your life :)
@myhotchilipepper Just to keep him a bit warm! It's actually called a jog sheet; they're used quite commonly in winter for horses either working under saddle or in harness. They are thin and a bit breathable. Nothing too crazy about them - just to keep their bodyclipped selves warmer.
@Theataskinen He's a bit steppy but it's all in how they move! He moves more out than up, and he doesn't really have the neck to be a saddleseat horse either. We thought he would get quite uncomfortable. I actually rode him saddleseat a few times and he was like "omg this is HARD! let me put my head down PLEASE!" so we thought he'd be better suited for hunter :) And the judges liked him there, soooo
quite a character. i have a morgan mare by Stonecroft Masquerade. she acts the exact same way. i think the only thing i say to her is "Flirt, CHILLL! my muscles are ripping off the bone." Stonecroft babies are very willing and strong. and really jiggy when they want to be
very lovely morgan gelding =) i watch this video alot. I have a 2005 morgan mare who started out hunt but is now western. Im always watching your gelding though, so nice.
What a handsome boy you have! My Morgan mare has the same quick trot, although not as high knee action so I sure know what it's like to think, "Holy cow, buddy...slow down a tad!" lol great vid :)
morgans are awsome! i rode them for 8 years and now i have a TB, but i miss morgans everyday. i"m trying to convince my dad to buy a morgan cause we'll be horse shopping in the next mounth
he is a lil overbent at the poll, if you allow him a little more rein, he will lift up and develope nice crest muscle, and he is less likely to "hollow" out his back. But not bad considering he just started training not too long ago.
you don't teach them to prance it is bred into them, and 1/2 of the time the Really High Gaits are taught to young "gaited" horses by using weighted shoes as well as elastic hobbles and weighted chains.
Morgans are NOT supposed to be gaited. People who breed/support gaited "Morgans" are a disgrace to the breed. Im not trying to be nasty but it is not a natural movvement for a Morgan! Thats why the MO Fox Trotter and TN Walker were developed!
You want them to be able to bring their hooves up, you can use chains or weights. That tells the horse to bring up the hooves, it's quite pretty, and doesn't hurt the horse at all.
his collection is so perfect... his neck arches wonderfully... i love morgans. they are so beautiful.
my morgan mare is kinda out of shape. i haven't been able to ride due to a surgery i had on my leg a couple months ago. it was giving me too much pain to ride safely for nearly a year before it. i hope to start riding again soon. i don't know if i can stand being away from the saddle much longer...
Can't say I was the one riding him :) He was super green in this video too, still learning what bit pressure means, so it's not too surprising. He doesn't really get behind anymore.
Is he a foundation Morgan?

@saddleclubgrrl Not at all. He's what you'd call "new type", haha.

gorgeous horse but the video would have been better if you were wearing a helmet
