  • @F0ckIranians It depends on the skill level. D7000 is a serious camera. If you're just starting out then it could be over kill. Keep in mind that you're going to need extra funds for a separate prime lens if you want to do portraits or for indoor shots, a speed light.

  • cool review. Can it compare to the new Sony A77 thogh?

  • @CRANKYONE100 The ISO performance is better. It's a different class and keep in mind that Sony lenses take some serious beating from Nikon Canon lenses. You know the funny thing? The processor in D7000 and most Nikon cameras is actually made by Sony haha. Check out my facebook page so you can see some sample pictures of D7000.

  • @PhotographersOnUTube Yeah, I know about the Sony censor in the Nikon. I'm stuck between waiting fir 5D MKIII, Nikon D800 or even Sony NEX& for best compact quality.

  • @CRANKYONE100 I'm waiting for D800 but if it's 36MP like Nikon Rumor has been saying then I'll pass on that and get D700 instead. I can't go with Canon because of the AF system. I've used Canon and when it comes to moving the focal points around and the quality of the pro lenses (I know Nikons cost way more) I think Nikon is a different class than everyone else. But if D800 is not 36mp then I'll go for that. OR maybe even D3s depending on my bank account lol.

  • I am looking into a fisheye lens and have no idea what lens would be best. Thank you for your clear instructions. I have the 7000 and LOVE IT! Thanks,

  • Hello! i just got my D7000 w/ kit lens 18-105. and i'm also planning to get another lens like 35mm 1.8g or 50mm 1.8g. which one do you think i should get first? i mostly shoot portrait and landscape. thanks!

  • @marls000c Use your kit lens for landscape as it has wider range. Not the best quality but it's better to take baby steps than to purchase all the gear at once. Def get 50 1.8G lens, the 35 1.8G is for street photography and you can't use that for portraits. There is a sample picture taken with 50 1.8G lens on my facebook page under temp folder. It's an unbelievable lens.

  • @PhotographersOnUTube Great! Thanks for the fast reply. Nice videos by the way. Keep up the good work! God bless!

  • Hi, I would like to know what is your height, how tall are you?

    Thanks!

  • @mark250k I am 5, 6' - bald and weigh 115 on a very good day.

  • Great review on a great camera.. thank you very much..

  • im planning to buy a DLSR and im choosing between a Nikon D90 and a D7000, which one do you suggest ?

    thanks in advance.

  • @pintakasi605 D90 doesn't even come close to D7000. I've used both. The difference is more than day and night. D7000 all the way.

  • I'm a novice at this whole photography thing but I hope to purchase my first DSLR soon! Your videos are easy to understand and are pretty detailed so they have been a real help and I've even watched some of them multiple times because I tend to forget things. Thanks and keep up the good work!

  • @x3iShopx3 Thank you!! It's easy to forget when you're not practicing. Once you get your dslr you'll be taking lots of pictures and apply everything you learn. I appreciate the kind words.

  • @funniq You're using matrix metering. Use spot metering to fix this. Never use matrix metering when the lighting is complicated.

  • I have fairly meaty mitts but I have just changed my technique a tad from how I gripped my old D200. It is a very capable camera and for the ordinary joe this is up with the best amateur DSLRs cameras around & at the higher ASA/ISO's up to 6400 its incredible, giving much more pricey units a run for their money & bettering some of them.

IMHO this is an ideal first DLSR on auto or scene, compose, point, shoot, easy peasy right through to exhibition work with all the control you could ever need

  • I swear i saw you on Catch a preditore

  • @jbomb71 lol.

  • It's a beautiful and very capable camera however, I have big hands and so this camera is not good for me. My knuckles are tightly up against the lens and at the end of the day I end up with a very uncomfortable camera. Nevertheless, I shoot with a 7D. Canon's have big, beautiful grips and I even had to add the battery grip so my little finger has space to grip. Stupid Italian hands...

  • @heartdoc25 I wish I had your problem. My hands are so small that I can't even add a battery grip to it because it would be too heavy and too big lol.

  • @heartdoc25 I have the same problem...good thing the grip was next on my list...hopefully it gives the camera enough grip

  • @heartdoc25 I have big hands too but you quickly addapt I love my d7000

  • Thanks for sharing your views on photography. I learn heaps from your tutorials. I am a first time dslr user and got myself a d7000 to play with. Believe me, you helped me tame this amazing camera!

PS-your doin great, don't mind tickleme.

  • @mult1tasker I appreciate that. When ever you have any question, feel free to ask. You could find me on our facebook page at PhotographersOnUTube where I give separate mini tutorials.

P.S. I never get offended. Check out my channel page and read the about me. There are people who count and some who don't. Why stress over people who don't even matter. :)

  • The Assistant Wedding Photographer suggested that I find a person online to help with the areas that was scaring the crap outta me .... So I have been watching as many of the You Tube Videos as possible regarinding my "new baby" the D7000.... The You Tube Videos are helping me because I am the type of person that learns by watching others or listening to their advice as to reading and re-reading the manual!! I am sure there is a name for that, I am looking forward to You Tube Tutorials! Thanks

  • @Alexandra1214 I agree with you Alexandra1214! I know I am a visual learner and I need to see and hear (sometimes hands on), just to learn something very well.

Keep reading and viewing the videos! You will master the D7000 very soon!

  • @Alexandra1214 Youtube never notified me of your comment. I'm reading it for the first time and it was posted 2 months ago. I want to thank you for writing the post. I'm glad the videos are helping you. Not sure if you're on the face page. But if you ever need additional help, feel free to ask. Take Care!

  • I was just at a family wedding over the weekend ... I took along my old faithful Nikon D70, and my newest Nikon D7000, flashes, and several lenses. I was determined NOT to fall back on my D70 because I still don't know everything about the D7000 yet and reading, rereading the manual isn't helping ... So I plowed ahead, trying my best, but it wasn't until one of the Wedding Photographers came around to our table and gushed over the D7000 did I realize I was overwhelmed by the D7000. She suggested

  • Why do you say you need a class 10 card?

  • @tickleme1980 The transfer speed is faster. Sometimes when you're shooting kids, you do a lot of fps but also when you shoot events and you're transferring files, the faster speed saves you time.

  • I must say that out of all the reviews i've ever heard, in any category, your voice is the most boring in any of the above. Please put some more feeling into it.

  • @tickleme1980 I must agree with you. This was my first video. You'll notice that sometimes I'm not even looking in the camera lol. Talking in front of a camera requires certain skills which I hope to develop over time. Take Care!

  • @PhotographersOnUTube No offence intended, it takes some guts to upload a video with yourself in it. I do agree the D7000 is awesome.

  • Please don't take tickleme1980's comments to heart. You voice is absolutely fine. Of all the comments I've ever seen on YouTube, tickleme1980's is the most absurd! You are providing a great service. If tickleme1980 needs more emotion in his life, maybe photo tutorials are the wrong place to look.

  • @mga440 Thanks for looking out mga440. I appreciate that. Luckily, I have thick skin. C-SPAN can also put you to sleep but you watch it for information. Tickleme does this with everyone, that's why I didn't take it personally. Thanks again!

  • nice review

  • What brand do you like? do you only get "Approved" memory?

  • @vinnyvette I've used Sandisk, verbatim, PNY and never had any problem with any of them. PNY was the cheapest. For events, Hoodman. It's pricey but it's waterproof... just in case.

  • Great Videos!! does shooting raw + jpg d7000 in 2 different slots slow the camera?

  • @vinnyvette Thanks! No, it won't. Just make sure you're using class 10 SD card. I buy cards from walmart's website. They have better prices than B&H.

  • Nice 7v8s

  • thanks just returned the sb400 and got the sb700 and the 35MM 1.8 fixed lens...it's getting better but I have a lot to learn!

  • @vinnyvette 35mm 1.8 is a great lens. You'll get a very nice silky bokeh with that lens. Your pictures will look FAR better with SB700. You could use off camera flash by triggering SB700 through the pop up flash or through pocket wizards. If the budget is tight you could buy Yongnuo Flash trigger from Ebay. You could do some really creative work with off camera flash.

  • i dont understand why would you say that d7000 is an upgrade for people with d300s when d300s is a professional range camera and d7000 is consumer dslr...!!

  • @hasankhan0102 Some consider full frame to be pro grade, some consider 100% weather proofing. D300s falls somewhere in the middle. Having said that, if you compare the specs with D7000 you'll see the difference. ISO performance is important to many people. D7000 has better ISO performance. More MPs. Custom user settings. Remember a lot boils down to your needs even when it comes to lenses. I'll do a side by side comparison of D300s and D7000 with sample pictures at high ISO later.

  • @hasankhan0102 Check out 2 other D300s and D7000 comparison videos.

The only area where I did not like the quality of D7000 pictures vs D300s was shooting outdoor in bright light. D7000 was over exposed the picture a few times. This was also mentioned by Gordon Lane but he wasn't comparing the camera to D300s.

  • @hasankhan0102 Because it is commonly known by now that the D7000 is on par with the D300s and even slightly better on some tasks..

  • Hello I have a Nikon DSLR D7000 sb400 18mm-200mm VRII when I take a picture in the house it comes out dark bbut will auto-correct and look fine with software..is there a setting I can use to compensate?

  • @vinnyvette It could be a number of things. 18-200 is f/3.5-5.6 which is not good for low light. SB400 may not be powerful enough to light up the subject resulting in under exposure. You could fix this by either upgrading your flash (so the light bounces back from ceiling) or the lens that is f/2.8 or better, preferably fixed aperture.

I have actually used 18-200mm indoor with SB600 and the pictures were not under exposed. There is a good chance SB400 is not producing enough light.

  • do you think I can send you a few shots of what I've taken in the past and like and Critique them? they were done hit no training or is there a site that you know or fourm that does that? also I just got the d7000 w sb400 I read Kenrockwells blog and says its fine..I think it may be under powered but I prob could adjust the f stop to get better results. I can still return it and get the sb700...Thanks

  • @vinnyvette Search "PhotographersOnUtube" on facebook. Join the page and post the pictures on the wall. I'll critique it for you.

The power is one of the issues with SB400. The biggest issue is that you cannot rotate the flash left or right for better bouncing performance. SB400 was designed for D40/D60. You own D7000 and if you can afford SB700 or SB800 (second market as it's discontinued) then go for it. SB600 (second market) would be better choice over SB400 as well.

  • Great Vidoes! i am learning a lot..I jsut got a Nikon D7000 sb-400 18-200 vrII and am a bit of a nubie....

  • @vinnyvette Thanks! We were all newbies at some point. Always remember to ask questions if you're not sure about something and most importantly, go out and take pictures.

  • Great video, have you tried anything like 3200? My D3100 does 1600 ISO with little flaw.

  • @NguyenTaylor Thanks Nguyen! I tried 3600 on 2 pictures. If you look at the unedited sample pics video, at 0:44 and 0:50 you'll see those pictures. The images were still acceptable at 3600.

I'd love to play with D3100 and see how the noise quality compares with D90
