  • Is this not what we called triple step back in the day? Thanks Marsha.

  • i likes this, i've been searching for the basics of zydeco. where do u teach lessons @? I would love to have u teach me.

  • if u search for zydeco dancing vids, u'll see white and black doing the same rhythm. Black Creoles just add a little more flamboyance but it's basically all the same. Of course she has rhythm And on the Louisiana zydeco live show, there is a bald white guy I would love to dance with...he's actually very good....and sexy lol!

  • i know dis white woman actually taught me how to zydeco oh my gosh wat have da world came to lol just joking thats gud not everthinh aint just black people we coming together more now

  • Hey, this gal has boogie in her soul! She explained & demonstrated so clearly to this white lady (me) that maybe I can go out and try it now.

  • lovely...

  • yall some nasty people for real ha ha ha ha

  • lol omg yall Zydeco is in the heart if you dont know how to do it obviously its not meant for you lmao my gawd...but hey yall have fun learning...but only true southerners can get down on some Zydeco...lol enjoy you guys

  • well explained. very clear. thanks very much.

  • HAAAA

  • It's really sad that this teaching/instructional videos has gotten out of hand and many profit from something they have no clue as to what, when or how Zydeco evolved. I was really ticked off when I saw the article/link to the video.

  • U CANT MAKE MONEY OFF OF YOUTUBE

  • I think that this is ridiculous and a disgrace to my culture. You don't see creole people dancing that way nor do you see them ruining cajun dancing in this manner. As for the counting, weight shifting and holds, that is not what zydeco dancing is about. No one in Louisiana or creole community learned to dance this way, especially by counting. Like Zydeco Scott suggested you need to witness and visit a Creole Zydeco Dance.

  • right on, spy

  • YEAH

  • Guys: hips left for #1&2 counts, right for #3 count, left for #4 count, right for #5&6 counts, left #7 count, right #8 count. Add a touch/step/stamp forward with the right foot on count #2 (weight should be on the left foot now) and add a touch/step/stamp forward with the left foot on count #6 (weight will be on your right foot now). Ladies: mirror the guys so your 1&2 are to your right, 3 is left, 4 right, 5&6 left, 7 right, 8 left.

  • I think this is well intended but kinda tragic. I can see that side to side thing being a 'styling' but I think it's a bad way to start. Personally I'd like to see people start learning zydeco with knees bent and their feet flat on the ground working on the weight shift in time. Then, once they get their hips moving, add a step out on beats 2 and 6. Then start 'marching' the step forward and backward in time to the music. Then work on turning both directions while keeping the time and step going

  • Interesting: the church lady does Zydeco. Nice. Check out Harold and Mandy on this site.

  • If you don't know how to zydeco, this is perfect and clear. To tweak, loosen the hips, bend the knees, don't bounce.

  • I think this is just terrific...want to see it "tweaked" however....thanks for the video

  • Wow, this is so nice. But I really like to get on the floor myself and tweak these moves.

  • Helpful - Thanks for posting.

  • she's just showin the basic steps. im sure you do the advanced dancin

  • I have never seen it taught this way. I suggest going to some dances and watching first.
