This was one of the most frighteningly casual songs AP Project recorded. I cried when I was finally old enough to understand its real meaning. I memorized it. Will NEVER let it go. Never.
You could say that. More like saying how the world was for them, but more like, as many songs do, speak in the riddle form that most songs do, You know, how most songs we decipher to fit into our lives. Knowing what you know, now that I told you, listen again to the words, with your heart.
@nigelo92 This song is about the relationship between Alan and Eric. Even though you got nothin to hide keep it inside of you dont give in don't tell them anything dont let it show Just like Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, it just wasn't the right time for everyone to know they were homosexual, but it didn't stop the world from loving them for their awesome work. My Dad was gay, it wasn't the right time for him either RIP Dad, And Eric and all you other lost souls looking for peace. God Bless.
I don't hate gays but I wouldn't want to be around one. I am disgusted by that. And by the way your message sounds like a threat. Should I be worried by you?
@mavsfan1000 im not gay but i will defend them n what i meant by my remark was what i meant the wrong person not me but the wrong person @ the wrong tyme it could happen just saying some people take gay bashing seriously
@bolmsp My apologies if I offended anyone here. I'm not a gay basher. I just found utuberine's made up story funny. I am a Queen (the band) fan as well. I will never want to know if someone is gay though. That just makes things awkward.
@utuberine Neither the wikipedia page for Eric nor the one for Alan mention that they were homosexual. Both were/are married to women, and Eric had children. Do you have any factual basis for this claim?
I remember playing this song for my girlfriend, thinking that it would get her in the mood. 31 years later, she still won't get in the mood when I play this song, but it's still a great song. I won't let it show. ;-0
I won't give in... and I will continue hiding our secret... but I can't let it go... and I can't stop believing... I just can't, I know you'll be there in the end ;n; I love you... without your flame... I'd just smother... extinguish... and dissepear... ;-; I understand the lyrics, I simply can't force myself doing half of what's said, I'd end up collapsing and looking miserable, I'd lose the sparkle that's keeping me in life...
The intro sounds like a funeral to me, with the church organ in the background. It's a very emotional and touching song. I agree that I Robot is atrue masterpiece. This song proves it!
The sad story line reminds me of "Artificial Intelligence" and Ray Bradbury's "The Electric Grandmother". Both sad movies about unwanted robots. But a beautiful song nonetheless.
I've always loved music since I was a kid. I was 12 when I started to listen to my dads old records. Found music to be 'my thing'. Well I found this baby and my god this is by far the best album out there. This song is so strong I love it so much especially at 2:48.
This reminds me of my parents divorce and myself just becoming a teen.
Sorry about your parents divorce. My ex and I divorced when my sons were 5 and 2. I feel soo bad they didn't have that traditional loving family, like I had.
This song and "Don't Answer Me" (by APP) are two of my all-time favorites. I've just learned that Eric Woolfson, co-founder of APP, died in the early a.m. hours on Dec. 2, '09. May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family and to his friends...
This song is gorgeous! It's amazing that this album came out over 30 years ago, and it is as if he were writing about the world we live in today in 2009.
The first time I listened to this song, I cried like a little child. This song is simply too beautiful! There are actually many songs of The APP which are pure masterpieces. 5 STARS!
