Ironic, the girls feel safe with cloud along, and he's worried about them, but ditches them. That's probably what they mention by unexpected. They probing will kill eachother over the course of the journey. Mow that's a fight I would like to see!

@Jeffstrow FFVII borrowed a mechanic from hentai games. Aerith, Tifa, Yuffie and Barret all have affection scores, that go up or down depending on what Cloud does at certain points of the game. At a certain point in the game, the character with the highest affection score will ask Cloud to keep them company for a while, which turns into a date scene.

(Personally, my favorite of the date scenes is the one with Yuffie. "C'mon, Cloud! Say something!" "... Something." *Slapping sound*)

Finally the World map, I always look forward to this part of Disc 1 because it kind of the real beginning of the journey in this game, to me Midgar was just a prelude to the real adventure.

I don't think that, i just think that for its time it made it very unique. I didn't say that i don't think any other game has done a motorcycle scene, all im saying is RPGs usually don't have this kinda stuff, or if they do, its not as fun as it could be. There has obviously better things now, thats a definite. But back then when tech wasn't that good, it was surprising to have a minigame with the fluidity of control and feel as this. sorry i didn't elaborate moreso in my previous comment.

If the enemy doesn't have anything to steal, the game will tell you. Sometimes it can take awhile to get the items.

Sort of. If a character's life meter is fully depleted, they'll start the boss fight with 1 HP. Since its opening attack is to bump into you for about 16 damage, it's essentially the same thing.

You can get matra magic already in Midgar. It's actually quite useful in those stages of the game. The weird house-like enemies in some sector use matra magic.

And even if that monster DID gave you the skill....you don't get your first enemy skill until in the Shinra building.

By the time you get there you can't go back to any of the sectors.

It's funny the reactions you get if you take the girls or the guys. That's the reaction you get with Cloud, Barret and Nanaki. Taking the girls gets you a different reaction from Barret. Try it out to see what happens.

Easy way to counter back attacks is just tap the Escape buttons, and it will make you turn around as if you didn't get back attacked. Just a little tip for those who dislike back attacks.

i remember the first time i played this game and my first reaction upon leaving midgar was "this game has a world map?" and then i realized that the storyline was not going to be i expected. midgar took me over 10 hours first playthrough(no guides)

Well, there are a total of 6 possible outcomes with the 2 you select....I usually chose Aeris and Tifa......to get them to level 3 limit breaks. But you are right, seeing that combo play out was HILARIOUS!
