  • The best fkn' live YoyTube video!!

  • Brilliant, thanks for posting - music with a purpose/conscience. Long gone nowadays....

  • wish i had a time machine!

  • I found this vid rather spiffing.

  • they are playing Bearded theory festival in derbyishire this year in may.

  • Kippevel krijg ik er van!

  • i was there pure class nothing beats this

  • sheffield tonight, cant wait

  • @MCFCRuss I was there, t'was awesome!

  • @hezdoodarr ive started to upload, av a look if you like, sound not great... but still

  • Still the best band ever to grace that stage. Even now nobody does it quite like the Levs.

  • viva la liberte viva la levellers !! FUCK THE SYSTEM !! DONT VOTE BECAUSE WHOEVER YOU VOTE FOR GOVERNMENT WINS !! and tell me what have they ever done for you brother ? think hard if your working class the answer is FUCK ALL !! democracy what a fucking laugh !! where the bankers get six figure bonuses and the old and the disabled get there benefits cut !! the soldiers go to fight there fucking wars come home either fuckedin the body or the head then discarded ! great fucking britain hahaha

  • My sons played football with them at Beautiful Days this year...then later we sang and danced to this song! Fantastic memories!

  • Im glad that I can say that at 10 years old I danced on stage with these guys :3

  • I believe this is Glastonbury 1994. It's amazing how quickly Britpop saw the Levellers fall out of fashion when they were so popular back then.

  • I was somewhere in that croud - it was one of the best nights of my life!

  • @benjesolems same.. and same :D good times!

  • OMG = I remember this!! Amazing, those were the days

  • Well well when I grew up,

    learned to love and laugh

    circled A's on the underpass;

the noise we thought would never stop

died a death when the punks grew up.

    And we choked on all our dreams;

    we whispered all our fears;

running through the heartless concrete streets

    chasing our ideas.

    Run!

  • best live glastonbury song EVER

  • this 2007? lookin young

  • my dad bought me an album when i was six, i think it was levelling the land, it was awsome and since then i kept listening to alternative music, i kinda left this band behind, never realizing that they would perform this good at a concert, best i've seen so far... now, 13 years later, i randomly picked it up again and sure im going to camp the internet untill i find out if they are going to perform somewhere near now, awsome band, LIVE PERFORMANCE SOUNDS LIKE A BONUS VERSION OF THE ORIGIONAL!!

  • @j0nayblade they're touring Leicester, sheffield and london 16th,17th,18th December, get yourself an early christmas present!

  • agree with kyral210, a fantastic night and one i will never forget. I still watch this now many, many years later and remember

  • they were the headliner at the first festival i went to in my life, awesome music

  • My mam recommended me to watch this, I love my mam

  • best band ive ever seen live & believe me ive seen most bands live !!!!!!!! BRILL 20/10

  • Which year was this?

  • @kyral210 It was 1994. The greatest, and last true, Glastonbury ever.

  • @ozwaldm The sad truth is time changes interest and the hippy alternative culture that fed Glastonbury with its spirit no longer exists outside the memory of those old enough to remember it. Jay-Z playing Glastonbury confirmed this beyond any doubt.

  • @kyral210 My first Glastonbury was 1985, my last one was 2005 in between I only missed one in between - 1989, yes the festival changed a lot, but the original festival can still be found if you look for it and get away from the main stage. The best parts of the festival have never been about music and even though I also can't stand Jay-Z, apart from something like Prussian Blue no one is "Wrong" for Glastonbury. Remember its full title is "Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts"

  • ONE WAY OF LIFE THATS YOUR OWN !!!!! FUCK THE SYSTEM !! VIVA LA LIBERTY NO JUSTICE NO PEACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROCK ON FREE PEOPLE THE WORLD UNITE AND MAKE THE CHANGE !!!!! ROCK ON THE LEVELLERS !!

  • God, this takes me back....I wa like 16 and their biggest fan!they were the first band i ever saw live. they're great!!!!

  • @prawnkoktail Not really, as I'm not going this year, Although I do have a soft spot for Gogol Bordello!

  • i was there that at glasters what a set what a night it was! ,i'll go to my grave with damn good time's i had tyvm levellers!:D bloody get in!..

  • @prawnkoktail Yeah, I saw them for the first time last year at BD too!! That was an amazing festiavl last year, I can't believe the line up's as poor as it is this year... still, always next year, which will be amazing as it's the 10th one! Justin saw me busking fiddle on the bridge by the Double Decker Tea shop and campsite adjacent!! And Jon Sevink gave me a fiver for my tunes! :D

  • Chords WTF it's just great music, get a life DW.

  • @prawnkoktail It is a great song! But the chords in the verses of 225 and One Way are D F G D..... sounds like it is anyway. And NMA had some amazing lyrics. My favourite lyrics ever are those in Green and Grey. In fact, the entire Thunder and Consolation album is incredible.

  • @breemdemeeen wot u rabbiting about? from that dribbly sentance i cant tell whether your actually sticking up 4 coldplay or the levellers...im guessing coldplay

  • This put glasto on the map. Best show ever...

  • This video should count millions of views...ah they don't know what they missed

  • I remember this! I'm somewhere in the crowd.... somewhere! Fantastic - the perfect Glastonbury band!

  • I love how you can hear the crowd chanting - really awesome

    gives me goosebumps

  • 8 people are Coldplay fans..

  • First gig I ever went to - Levellers at the Poly of Wales must be 1991 - f*ckin' awsome....

  • I've just watched a bit of this year's festival and then watched this, and this video reminded me why I will never set foot in that place or line some corporate wanker's pocket with my hard earned cash ever again. It's not the same festival. It's in the same place but to compare it to the mid 90's and before that is an insult to what made it great in the first place. Free spirits, free will, respect for each other, the diversity if people and a care free attitude. The opposite of now!

  • @GothJez Go to Beautiful Days.

  • @GothJez like someone here commented... post-hippy times are gone :-(

  • @GothJez Totally agree. Really really.

However; How fucking good is the sound!!!!!! We have come a long way in that respect!

  • @GothJez to right the last time iwent was 96 and that was a fuck up , i had bin going from 82 i wont go now

  • @GothJez i was there

  • glastonbury is alas a corporate sell-out these days - a victim of it's own success. Who can afford 200 quid a ticket? Oh yeah the yoghurt knitting upper middles with two incomes and a nanny. Please stay in our corporate wanker designer yurts and teepees with flushing toilets ... michael eavis is a thoroughly nice bloke but this is too big too corporate and too arranged. what we need is a bit of free festival ... oh bugger forgot about the criminal justice act... ,,, make do with yr memories ...

  • they're comming to rock zottegem :D

  • @demonsXneverXdie And I can't go! :(

  • saw them on the glade stage last year after stevie wonder was finished, fucking quality

  • Is this Glastonbury 1995?

  • @cdaly32 1994

  • @cdaly32

1994 methinks mate, I'm about 3 from the front, what a night!!!

  • so amazing

  • That's only one way of life, and that's your own, your own, your own!

  • The canines cobblers

  • Immer noch der absolute Wahnsinn, großartige Musik und ich habe die ein paar mal Live sehen dürfen....besser geht`s nicht !!1

  • Sorry, what year was this?

  • dam the last few minutes gave me goosebumps, u see the crowd jumping up and down, and hear them sing along over the actual sound.

  • if nature ever voiced its opinion.

  • Saw The levellers at glasto back in 1992 one of the best days of my life :D

  • @C5Bocker

    me too

  • This video is amazing, thanks for that!!!

  • only a joke lads.. put the knives down

  • to Jazz mag i want one of those jobs and campervans you speak of, so do all my friends

  • What makes me laugh about scenarios like this (apart from the ENERGY) is this....

The crowd go wild. Mental. Everyone BELIEVES.

Then at the end of the gig, they pack up their family into their £2K awnings into their £50K camper vans, and return to their £500K houses and £80K a year jobs!

  • @jazzmag11

you are under-over-estimating the crowd, jazzmag. Most of them went back to the factory jobs. But it's nice that everyone believed, even though for a shortwhile. Won't you agree? :0)

  • @jazzmag11 no ticket,no tent,no wheels no home,no job.always there.fucking luv it,not what it used to be tho

  • @jazzmag11 Having an own lifestyle and being a jealous loser are two distinct things.

  • wow, i've never seen european crowds going this crazy

  • @shambler92 never been to levellers gig then

  • @ironmike1671 if they ever come to argentina i definitely will

  • Does anyone else hear the resemblance between this song and New Model Army's 225? same jumpy tempo, same thrash about feel, and the same bloody chord progression (nearly)!

  • what year was this in??

  • @RubiiandTorii, it's from 1994.

  • @safeashouses211 Oh cool thanks :) I go glastonbury every year and im 12

  • was this 92? i shot through and had to leave on sunday morning lol

  • M/cr uni march 11 sold out,one of this nations best bands. lets all level the land. Jabez clegg pre gig? band?

Jez Mark u know it makes sense.

  • cant believe the shit band that is Coldplay came top of a poll of best glastonbury shows with the dreary 'yellow', this song is better lyrically, musically and performed.

  • @real85er Join the facebook group called, Forget Coldplay The Levellers Held The Best Performance At Glasto In '94

  • @thefestivalkid i was there glasto stop in 96 to much wast

  • @real85er don't talk shit, it's not because you don't like coldplay, everything is shit about it.

  • fuckin f********c

  • Awesome track from the Levellers this bands music is uplifting and it will still be awaesome in 20 years when they are older. You cant stop this sort of music.

  • fuck yes! @ozwaldm i remember that passion that this song inspired that made me think i could change the world! Protests so we could fight the police n stick 1 finger up to the state and all it stands for, refusing to be "normal" and live in a house, my ol van was heaven on wheels, now sittin in my bloody house workin just realised how i had forgotten it all! wot a tune...

  • 17 years it's been since I was front and centre for this song and even after all that time the memory is still as bright as it always was. We weren't singing a chorus to a great song that night we were chanting the battle cry of a generation. I look around now and I see a world not too different to how it was back then. Maybe we lost our dream to cynicism, maybe it's too late for us to escape the trap we made for ourselves.

Don't waste your dream young ones, push the world until it gives.

  • This is the anthem of my life. Too often we are led on to conform with a lifestyle not our own. Life is for living.

  • Lost my business, my home and some so called friends, so bloody pleased i logged to this as its always lifted my spirits and I'm smiling already again....

    Love it!!!!!

  • Get the Leveller's boys to Christmas number one in 2010....

  • When the lights come on to show the crowd = WOW

  • damm they boys are havin a good time . roll on edinburgh nov .

  • Wish I was there.

  • Absolutely fkn awesome band! Wasn't at glasto that year but saw them live loads, superb vid thanks!

  • the corrupt system of which you speak includes recreational drug abuse.but, of course-'' there's only one way of life...'' i love the levellers-wish their lyric's were less dark. dirty davey sounds like a real loser.

  • GOOSEBUMPS WHEN THE CHORUS COMES!

  • 2004, Pyramid Stage. Slot after Rage.

As seen on the BBC Best of Glastonbury Festival DVD

  • What Year Was This?

  • At Buxton Opera House last year, surreal no mushrooms needed

  • This the very first time I saw the levellers, Glastonbury 1994 (the first year I went as well) was blown away by them, went on to see them 11 more times after this.

  • did someone give bez a didgeridoo? lol

  • tuuuuuuuune!

  • ass bandits

  • What a KICKASS Groovy as hell performance! LOVE the Didgeridoo opening, the coolest instrument ever made!

  • my most favourite lyrics ever. they say so much and with so much power as well...

  • Have been in the mosh many times when the Levs play this and at that moment (as with many other Levellers songs) you really feel in the very depths of yourself the unity and the belief that you all CAN smash the corrupt system and make the world a better place, they keep the fire inside you burningand although the system can't be smashed (especially by a few hundred pissed up Levs fans after a gig lol) you have more of a desire to make YOUR world a better place, and thats the beginning...;-)

  • @K2PlantHire he he one the best comments I have read on youtube made me smile :)

  • @Millerbaz Thank you for saying so, I thought it better than saying "WHHHOOOOO LEVS ROCK!!!"

Thank you for uploading the vid ;-)

  • @Millerbaz Keep that feeling alive, I felt the same at your age, its the idealism of youth and its how the world moves forward and becomes a better place. The cynicism prevalent in the UK is giving way to a new politicised class, and its not too soon.

  • @Millerbaz

you summed it up for me too. only one way of life my friend

  • @K2PlantHire that is actually beautiful. if you're at beautiful days this summer, i want to meet up with you and shake you warmly by the hand

  • @JackyRowe I would give my left leg at the knee to be at Beautiful Days (need the right for driving) lol but as with most things life gets in the way

For truely beautiful check out "Angel by The Levellers" on here, that is one of the most beautiful songs ever and also thats the account I post videos under, I don't like using that name for comments ;-)

  • @K2PlantHire HOW COME I'VE NEVER HEARD THAT BEFORE????!!!! it's beautiful!!! thank you so much!

  • @JackyRowe Your welcome bud. Like muck, joy is there to be spread around if you know what I mean? ;-)

  • @K2PlantHire a fellow countryman?!

  • @K2PlantHire well said that man

  • @rugby0162

    Thank you very kindly :-)

  • @K2PlantHire You need to get into trains.

  • @A9107 Nah, trains follow a set path, it would be against my nature to follow any set path ;-)

  • @K2PlantHire You're the Don dude!! Well said!! There are more of us than there is of them!!

  • @Stavcol Cheers dude :-) Peace & Love K2PH

  • @K2PlantHire very well said

  • @K2PlantHire Your a man/woman after my own heart... long live the levellers, long live our free spirits!

  • @K2PlantHire Goddamn that's a good philosophy. I know exactly what you're talking about, having been the lucky participant in many a Levellers mosh pit. It's a life-changing experience...

  • @K2PlantHire

Keep that feeling alive, I felt the same at your age, its the idealism of youth and its how the world moves forward and becomes a better place. The cynicism prevalent in the UK is giving way to a new politicised class, and its not too soon.
