  • nice beethoven opening

  • I´m a big Purple-fan but this is no good.

  • yo escuche este tema el año 1979 cuando tenia 8 años........ no era tan antiguo en ese entonces, hoy han pasado mas de 40 años,

  • starts well, is well from where singing begins (except mccartney wouldnt have liked the excessive guitarwork between singing)

  • Someone actually said that McCartney was a shit song writer? You mean the guy who wrote more number 1 songs than anyone in history, the guy who wrote Yesterday, Michelle, Eleanor Rigby, Hey Jude, and Let It Be, just to mention a few? I can't stop laughing.

  • @psd0826 Probably some Justin Bieber fanatic said that.

  • Three things:

    1. this song is off of The Book of Taliesyn not Shades of Deep Purple

    2. The first part is called Exposition and itquotes Beethoven/Symphony no.7, mvt.2 and Tchaikovsky/Romeo & Juliet Overture "Prelude: Happiness"

    3. It is a terrible cover - sorry Deep Purple

Oh and extra note it sounds like they are going to break into "Back in the USSR" which had been released earlier that year instead of We Can Work it Out.

  • This is shit

  • the bass part behind the vocals sounds like jp jones of zep. is that him? or did he cop these riffs for "what is and never should be?" they shouldve left the fancy prog rock(intro) to ELP though. the organist doesnt cut it.

  • i hate this

  • Beatles are way better .

  • By the time Deep Purple starts singing, the Beatles are already done!

  • I RESPect very much deep purple...especially from 1970 (and i think "Anthem" is magnificent Work! from this album )

    , but definitly this cover is H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E ! ! !

tHEY dESTROY "we can work it Out"

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • That Hamond organ is awesome, Jon the Lord!

  • Interesting that at 00:46 you can here a section that anticipates the intro to Highway Star from Machine Head

  • ビートルズ先輩!

  • A musical genius' name has to start with L, as this song prooves: Ludwig (van Beethoven), Lennon, and Lord.

  • @ThePurpleLP Excellent comment!!

  • HA! A classic stripped of its urgency and covered as a melodramatic dirge!

  • Mark 1 was so fine line up, they had a courage to try all kinds of stuff and the singer has a great voice, he does not try too much if you know what I mean and that sounds good. Also Lord`s and Blackmore`s playing together on these "spanish" parts are wonderful to hear.

  • Does anybody else think that Jon Lord looks like the guy from Yello on the album cover there?

  • Mk1 Deep Purple would have been bigger than Zeppelin if they stayed together. Mrk1 rules

  • wo. i never knew the big D covered the big B! fantastic. any more such covers?

  • @ridge87701 they covered help! as well.

  • @mazanylisak01 : Ya, I heard that and loved the way they changed it and made it pretty different yet not bad... DP are great!

  • @ridge87701 help

  • Comment removed

  • i hated it

  • Like Paul said once, we can work it out.

  • @SuperLmcc sorry but that cover isnt what i hoped for. thanx for not giving up to tell me better covers. i m just too critical, that s all.

  • okay, i m not sutpid or anything, but i dont get it. i mean ... are thy going to sing the original song at all? oh. right aroun 3:19!!!

I LOVE THE BEATLES ORIGINAL and the STEVIE WONDER COVER!

  • yeah i prefer DP's cover, the solo makes the song less a catchy a number and more rich.

  • I love Deep Purple's early style, and their interpretations of Beatles songs. Honestly, I kind of like this version and DP's Help! better than the Beatles' originals.

  • Mr. Jon Lord @ 5:02

    ..........wooooooooooooow

  • everybody has covered the FAB FOUR!!

  • and deep purlpe twice!!!

  • @poussyledzep ya, but Deep Purple did it the best

  • @poussyledzep McCartney was a shit song writer _ even lennon hinted at that in a Playboy interview shortly before his death. most people who have covered his songs have done a better version than him. NOW THE BEATLES POLICE WILL COME TO LYNCH ME

  • @SuperRobza Ummm ... if you say that people have covered the music better, you're saying he was a great song writer but the band played them shit

  • @poussyledzep

Ah - but very few have done it with such virtuosity and vision.

  • :D yeaaa

  • that is some brilliant insight.

  • i would like to know why i recognize the beginning but with violins. is it taken from a classical song?

  • Of course, well done : Beethoven's 7th Symphony, Allegretto. Beautiful piece...

  • 10 seconds short of being a whole five minutes longer than the original. that's deep. DEEP PURPLE!

  • valammmona

  • música de beatles, solo con deep purple

  • paul macCartney love this cover, and

    "help", he loves deep purple.

  • Thanks for posting, nice cover. I believe this was on the Book of Taliesyn album rather than Shades of Deep Purple though.
