The average person right now wants the government to fix this recession, end the war in Iraq, and find a way to bring the jobs back. You also forget that minorities are going to be playing a huge role and if they can't get their votes they will never win a presidential election. How do you think WWII was ending by not spending. You forget because of WWI the US government was able to contract work to factories to build the military equipment that hired all these people that ended the depression then recession. Government may not be the whole solution but they are sure as hell a big part of it.

You don't get it. There's huge difference between what happened 60 year 65 years ago and today. I'm not going to let you twists your words. In WWII, the government contracted companieslike GM, Ford, and many other industrial sites to mass produce cheap but still effective military equipment that our soldiers could use. The companies then employed millions of people to build this equipment and when the war ended the workers were able to spend their money which growth in the late 40's.

Now compare that to today where this military to these military companies do create some jobs but nothing compared to what happened in WWII. I think your either ignorant or just trying to twist my words. WWII was a necessary war to combat the evils of Japan and Germany while Iraq was a war by choice and I think a majority of the people will say that war in Iraq was a choice.
