Hey Radiohead may be Mainstream but they are allowed to they have established themselves as great already and look AT how they sold In Rainbows. Also The Arcade Fire aren't mainstream how many people know them and they are signed to an Independent Label.

Im just pointing out that the term 'indie' now relates to a type of music rather than any music which was on an independent record label. Music seems to be dominated by the big 3,4 record labels.We need another factory or rough trade lol

'The Smiths' not make the list? hmmm seems odd to leave out the band that really started the whole movement. Before they came along it was post punk like Joy Division (very good band as well) and synth music that ruled the airwaves. And indeed if you look at most modern 'indie' bands they quote the smiths has a big influence. Funny how we still use the term indie when it comes to these bands because how many of them are actually 'independent'? 'indie' has now become a mainstream sound.
