Being a FA sucks! I did that shit for the now dead Northwest Airlines for five years. The day I quit was the BEST day of my life! God how I hated that job! He put lives at risk because he opened the emergency exit before the plane was even ready to be exited from. And you cannot use the fact that a passenger ignored the rules, when he did too. My aunt is a flight attendant and she even says this guy overreacted. Yes, the passenger might have been difficult, but that doesn't mean you go on the intercom, curse at the passenger, then open up an emergency exit and leave. He could have handled this a lot better than he did.

Slater pled guilty to 2 counts of criminal mischief, and will have to spend one year in a Queens mental health program. He was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine upon completing his program. After the idiocy of his actions hopefully have sunk into even his own thick skull, may he now just go away and be barred from ever profiting from this planned and deliberate act of yet another "Balloon Boy Family"-esque self-promotional B.S. .

The way I see it, he was facing someone calling him a motherfucker, and he responded in the most natural way possible: he snapped. That way, he sees his actions as "justified". You notice how he was smirking while being handcuffed? The man has ABSOLUTELY no remorse over what he did. Just about 4 and a half yrs. longer than the already fading fascination w/ this story anyway.

@Other299 The security tape clearly shows that he didn't. and from inside the plane, at least according to the reasoning leading to his 1rst degree reckless endangerment charge, there's no evidence that he took the necessary steps to insure that there were no personnel around the plane who could've been injured or killed.
