@Mr131723 the only argument against yours is that when Luther walked into the room, he would take me away from Johnny. Luther Perkins is my favorite musician of all-time.
I feel guilty when i listen to the Tennessee Three without Luther. Luther is my favorite musician of all-time. Is it a coincidence that after Luther died that Cash became an above-average musician. With Luther, Cash was excellent; without Luther, Cash was above average. Is this fair?
@mymyllene Yes, he was very handsome, until he got into hard drugs. They ruined his appearance around the late 50's. They really took a toll on his looks, even after he quit.
The way I see it, Johnny Cash is either the most "Rock 'n' Roll" that Country music ever got, or, the most "Country" that Rock 'n' Roll ever got! Whatever you wanna call it, it's just great music, simple, powerful, honest, entertaining, and different, among many other things! BTW, this is most likely 1956! I'm like 99% sure of it!
@tsukka According to Deke Dickerson, the Echosonic amp had only one delay time which was perfect for most rockabilly music. One could vary the intensity but not the delay. Luther is probably using a Standel which everyone used on Ranch Party. Cheers.
its gotta be from 56' based on the clothes he's wearing and the way he looks....he aged pretty quick between 56' and 58' for some reason...probably cuz the pills he took lol.....and yeah kick ass song by the "man in black"!
Johnny Cash has never been a big so called "Rock star", even if many people want to believe it was so. He has allways been a Country singer, but a damn good one though! BUT he has done some rock n' roll songs..
Johnny Cash was not one single genre. He created his own subgenre the fell between the honesty of folk, rebelliousness of rock n roll, and world weariness of country, and not only that, but he crossed all musical boundaries and did it successfully.
Thanks for the info, they didn't sell that brand where I grew up in Texas. But if you know where I can get a jar, let me know, I'd preciate it!! Like to have one....
I find it pretty cool to see they all played just the same instruments in the early years. I mean if you watch the "Don't mae me go" video for example, that was one year later, but they still played the same guitars. They bought them themselves in 1955 and carried them around just like any normal person owning a guitar does. Great!
johnny cash was one of the best in da world rock on i hope u still are johnny i wish i would ve seen u in concert a million times before you passed dearly missed by all im sure too
lets start a pitiion!!! Oh and while were at it one for the entire prison concerts on dvd too!!! they should have did that instead of the stupid 2 cd 1 dvd things... retarded... I want the whole show!!!!!!!!
I wish he would have made this song much more recently. I think his style on his more recent songs would have made this song much better. He also skipped a part on this song...
His 3rd I think, it was on the second single (1st: Hey Porter/Cry Cry Cry - 2nd: Folsom Prison Blues/ SO DOGGONE LONESOME) - and of course also on the first album "Johnny Cash with his hot and blue guitar".
i love this song:)
