@schmidtm1010 This is a silly thing to say (but I have to eat dinner): I suppose when you and I die, we'll figure out who is right and who is wrong. When it comes to religion, there is very little to be done in terms of arriving at absolute truths. I'm pretty confident that if I'm a generally good person, and I leave this world better than how I found it, I'll be accepted into whatever afterlife there might be.
And if religion is just made up, well, at least I'll have had a positive impact.
@schmidtm1010 I'm only following the tangents you're starting. You mentioned celibacy.
And dogma does change. John Paul II included slavery among matters that are ''intrinsically evil'' -- prohibited ''always and forever'' and ''without any exception'' -- a violation of a universal, immutable norm. Yet slavery in some form was accepted as a fact of life in both Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, in much Christian theology and in Catholic teaching well into the 19th century.
@schmidtm1010 There are Catholic priests are are married TODAY. The Church grants exemptions to this rule more often than you might think. So popular opinion has no effect on Religion. What causes religious tenets to change?
Also, you'll notice how none of my posts start with "YOU missed the point." I'm terribly sorry that I failed to connect the dots between a thing you mentioned and a thing you didn't mention.
@schmidtm1010 More than 40% of Catholics have no problem with Gay Marriage. When that number grows, if the Catholic church accepts gay people, will you leave it?
@schmidtm1010 Well, I wouldn't use the word "accuse," but yes, I guess I would say I believe you don't really understand where I'm coming from. Yet you honestly think you have me figured out.
I guess I'm willing to admit I don't quite understand your "if you don't like it, just leave" mentality. Why would I leave something (Catholicism) that I've come to love so much?
@schmidtm1010 I think it's part of the human condition/experience that each one of us believes that not only do we understand ourselves perfectly, but also that we understand everyone ELSE with equal accuracy.
@schmidtm1010 I think you take religion too seriously. You should be able to laugh about things you love. Jesus must have had a terrific sense of humor to get so many people to listen to him.
I'm pretty sure that's only talking about adding and taking away from Revelation. Not the whole Bible is 'prophetic' and the Bible as a whole was compiled when John was writing this. He probably didn't even know that the letters that he and others wrote would be compiled into the Bible.
I now proclaim (as an emissary of God, of course) that anyone who adds or subtracts from this video shall spend an eternity in hell. Because that's how it works. You say something, then you follow it up with a big ass threat if someone questions/disagrees with you. Kind of like calling someone a "pussy" if they aren't in on your plans.
I'm guessing Revelations... only because I slightly remember something about "not putting this book on your shelf" or something along those lines in Revelations.
Did you read the recent announcement from a Hebrew University professor that said that Moses was using hallucinogenic drugs on Mount Sinai? From reading Revelations, I'd say they were on crack ... or maybe opium - yeah I think opium was the drug of choice in antiquity
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Dude are you still running this vid, I already explained to you that your quote is from the "book" of Revelation and it refers only to that one book in the bible. The Bible is a collection of Books or writings (in some cases letters). You are implying it refers to "The Bible".
Please my friend if you don't know even this basic concept about the bible, don't do commentary on it, you risk looking foolish.

You are an idiot. Basically you're saying that it's alright to revise the bible - but the bible is still the true word of God. You have to take the word from someone else that this is what it states!!!
You aska good question, read what wikipedia tells us:
The Dead Sea scrolls consist of roughly 900 documents, including texts from the Hebrew Bible, discovered between 1947 and 1956 in eleven caves in and around the Wadi Qumran (near the ruins of the ancient settlement of Khirbet Qumran, on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea) in the West Bank.
continued: The texts are of great religious and historical significance, as they include practically the only known surviving copies of Biblical documents made before 100 AD, and preserve evidence of considerable diversity of belief and practice within late Second Temple Judaism.
Hi Machelli, I liked your other Gay Marriage video but not sure I get what you are tryin to say with this one. There is a way to comprehend that section of Rev. but its often mis-used. anyway I'll check back
Finally someone catches that. I was worried we'd all go on for eternity thinking this supposed all-knowing god routinely translates his 'word' into different languages and updates the language to modern understanding. Phew!
HAHAHA!!! Yes... The thought has come to me many times that if the bible is the direct word of God then why do they have to revise it? Someone choosing to be gay is illogical because there is no reason why you would want to be gay! Why would someone put themselves through social rejection, misery, ridicule, pain and eternal damnation? Im gay but I would rather be straight. I never EVER chose to be gay. Im glad you have accepted gays, but you have to know that they had no "freedom" to choose.
I know poeple do not choose to be gay, straight, bi, or what have you, it would be insanely stupid for me to say: "When you are a certain age, you make a choice as to your sexual orientation"; I did't mean for it to come out like that. I agree with you completely.
I completely understand you being offended by this if your a christian but damn man..If your so christian do you really think you need to sound so hateful..I mean lol you called him a bitch ass atheist. I'm not meaning anything by it I just didn't think it sounded very christian like.
"This book" most likely means the Book of Revelation. The Bible is composed of many books that were from scrolls. In fact, the word "bible" is itself Greek for "books". It's a compilation of several works. People have the mistaken impression that it's a "book" because they get it bound in a single volume. But, that's no more a "book" than an apple is a tree.
You know, I was all set to hate you and unsubscribe, being a christan and all, but when i saw the end of that... THAT WAS REALLY FUNNY!! oh my, i was CHOKING. LOVE IT!!
What's up with the generalization? I don't go around saying "Fucking Atheists" for ignoring something or bending the truth. Something to think about before you make another generalization.
Thats NOT the approved Bible at the Genva(idk if that is right) at about 100 B.C. Notice on the front it says FOR CATHOLIC. There are a few added books in the middle that were not approved by the early church. Try the NIV translation or the NKJV or the KJV.
Except for those of us who are agnostic/atheists. We don't believe in that shit. Don't dis our asses for it either. It's against the law to force your beliefs upon another. None of it's true. Yet none of it is a lie. People don't want it still can get it, they just don't. The Bible is a fabled story to keep the world in line, without it we would die. But with it we would as well, but slower.
i agree with some of that. i think [please no hate comments here, i grew up going to church and loving god and all that] that the bible is just a bunch of stories that people thought sounded cool and could con people out of their stuff waaaaay back when it was 'created'. and the people who were conned believe it, and told others about it, so it spread, eventually becoming what it is today.
He also said, that His words will never go away. WOW man, I like and respect and understand your message. But think about it too, 2000 and more years and even here (youtube) and even you (another human being) talks about it. GOD RULES, you like it or not.
How is that possibly true? I mean, think logically for a second. God can't be seen. Considering that; he can not, without a physical form, do things for the physical world. Even if he did create the universe. He can't do anything for it. So what's the point in religion? To keep the world from falling into chaos. I tried religion. I really did. I just couldn't hear or find this 'God' person. There is no two ways about it. It's all in your head.
Somewhere in that "great book" (I'd like to point out the sarcasm to the completely ignorant) there is also a line of not using the name of God in Vein... Also it is written that Thou shalt not murder... Finally it is said to not Envy your neightbours house, wife, ox, or anything that is owned by him.
Makes you wonder what the Crusades were all about...
There's a lot of sceptiscism, but I think this is a good interpretation of not just the Bible, but religion in general. So what if it was just talking about Revelation, I think it can go for the whole book. :) I liked it, onto the next movie!
The bible was written well over 200 hundred years after the time of Jesus and whatnots. I've heard it was 500, but I'm not sure on that. But think of how a rumor can circulate in 5 minutes, passing it in a circle of 30 people.
Dude, when you think about it, you dont believe in god, but you believe in what other people tell you. Its not the point of it being revised, but how shit just doesnt add up.
Chald0 don't get F..., do not feel F.... maybe some being humble will help your day to day. He is there waiting for you to try again and get peace, make a positive difference in the world and trust yourself as a great creation for eternity.
I didn't understadn what that article was saying, it;s like a dictionary with complex meaning for words D= can't they just make it simple without the fancy language???
Nicely played. I saw a play today, inherit the wind, and its about the monkey trails. And they brought up a good point and question: Was it god that made humans, or humans that made god?
If you believe in God for that reason, I'm afraid you'll go to Hell anyway =)
There is only one thing that you're a hundred percent sure : your existence. Since it's your only real truth, make it worth it and enjoy your life! If God really exists, that He is pure Love, I don't know why he'd throw us in Hell. Unless He's either stupid or evil.
if god is pure love why is it that people who belive in him are some of the most hateful people i have ever seen. but every person i have ever seen that said they warship the devil seem to be really nice people??
and on that note...>> look how many evil things have been done in the world in the name of god... i can't think of too many that have been done in the name of the devil
You just point out one of the numerous reasons why I'm atheist =)
I think the Bible contradicts itself so much that it's impossible that it has been written by an entity of "pure love", unless "pure love" means flooding the planet, forcing people to sacrifice their child, etc.
The bible along with most religons are based on blind faith, if you have read the bible you will notice that during it,it repeativly states that humans can do nothing right, we will always sin no matter what, the only way to recover from this is to belive and warship
...lets see..break someone down..force them to act a way..hum...that sounds...reminds me of something...
OH ya..brain washing....
P.S. I'm not a atheist, and yes i belive in god..>< i just hate churches and organized religons ..... i should have spent more time in english class i think ( can't spell)
You know, I'm atheist but I'm not anti-religion. I just dislike the fact that there are too many believers that don't think and that accept the Bible has a whole and universal truth. Blind brainwashed worshiping in short.
Worship and believe? you are pretty ignorant. Repentance is the key to salvation. If you know you are a sinner and don't repent you wont obtain mercy and see God's amazing grace. If you don't know God or are a pseudo Christian then I could see why ignorance is bliss. Hope that bliss is worth your eternity. God bless you all.
You assume to much, you think becuse people are talking about the bible that they dont seek repentance, and haven't come to know gods mercy.Sin is apart of the human way, the bible was wrote by humans. is it so hard to conceive that maybe it was changed to it could be used to control people?
People who defend the bible with out thought, really should open their minds and search for god.
If Adam and Eve never ate from the Tree, we wouldn't be where we are right now, would we? We'd be living in blissful ignorance in Paradise. However, people say that the trials we're going through makes us stronger, better people. So which would people nowadays find more important or better? Bettering themselves as human beings, or living in blissful ignorance? But would we even exist if Adam and Eve were never tempted by the Devil to eat from the Tree and gain Knowledge?
Because people who feel the overwhelming need to find comfort in God are sometimes the same people who feel the need to conquer and dominate to quell their own insecurities in life.
People struggle so much to find meaning in life that they often feel invalidated by the existence of someone whose beliefs invalidate their own.
well thats just the thing, if it wasnt for the catholic scare tactics, the religion wouldnt have lasted this long. believing in God should be something to enjoy, not to fear. These people that write these books should stop fearing god and his wrath and start being afraid of their impact on the generations to come. thats something our ancestors have failed to do.
@schmidtm1010 Thanks! I can use all the extra prayers you're willing to give me.

Obviously you know very little about Biblical translations.
It's not like the game where you whisper a secret around the room and the end result is quite differnt than the orig. message.
Any time the Bible has been translated they go back to the most original source.

Thats NOT the approved Bible at the Genva(idk if that is right) at about 100 B.C. Notice on the front it says FOR CATHOLIC. There are a few added books in the middle that were not approved by the early church. Try the NIV translation or the NKJV or the KJV.

yocreo 4 years ago
Except for those of us who are agnostic/atheists. We don't believe in that shit. Don't dis our asses for it either. It's against the law to force your beliefs upon another. None of it's true. Yet none of it is a lie. People don't want it still can get it, they just don't. The Bible is a fabled story to keep the world in line, without it we would die. But with it we would as well, but slower.
TheLostNumbers 4 years ago
i agree with some of that. i think [please no hate comments here, i grew up going to church and loving god and all that] that the bible is just a bunch of stories that people thought sounded cool and could con people out of their stuff waaaaay back when it was 'created'. and the people who were conned believe it, and told others about it, so it spread, eventually becoming what it is today.
but thats just what i think.
themessenger446 4 years ago

TheLostNumbers 4 years ago
Yeah. Revised.
Not like the message has been changed.

Makes you wonder what the Crusades were all about...
...and the inquisition :P

There's a lot of sceptiscism, but I think this is a good interpretation of not just the Bible, but religion in general. So what if it was just talking about Revelation, I think it can go for the whole book. :) I liked it, onto the next movie!
JumppStart 4 years ago
Thank god someone notices this other than me.
The bible was written well over 200 hundred years after the time of Jesus and whatnots. I've heard it was 500, but I'm not sure on that. But think of how a rumor can circulate in 5 minutes, passing it in a circle of 30 people.
Imagine that, but with the bible, and 200 years.
Iloatheyou 4 years ago
Dude, when you think about it, you dont believe in god, but you believe in what other people tell you. Its not the point of it being revised, but how shit just doesnt add up.

PsukeLukou 4 years ago
mhm, pretty much the same concept. I mean, i believe in God, only because of the off chance that he does exsist, i dont wana go to hell.
h4xpwnzor 4 years ago
If you believe in God for that reason, I'm afraid you'll go to Hell anyway =)
There is only one thing that you're a hundred percent sure : your existence. Since it's your only real truth, make it worth it and enjoy your life! If God really exists, that He is pure Love, I don't know why he'd throw us in Hell. Unless He's either stupid or evil.
PsukeLukou 4 years ago
if god is pure love why is it that people who belive in him are some of the most hateful people i have ever seen. but every person i have ever seen that said they warship the devil seem to be really nice people??
Ericthebloodyred 4 years ago
and on that note...>> look how many evil things have been done in the world in the name of god... i can't think of too many that have been done in the name of the devil
Ericthebloodyred 4 years ago
Maybe but i'm not entirely wrong
Ericthebloodyred 4 years ago
You just point out one of the numerous reasons why I'm atheist =)
I think the Bible contradicts itself so much that it's impossible that it has been written by an entity of "pure love", unless "pure love" means flooding the planet, forcing people to sacrifice their child, etc.
PsukeLukou 4 years ago
The bible along with most religons are based on blind faith, if you have read the bible you will notice that during it,it repeativly states that humans can do nothing right, we will always sin no matter what, the only way to recover from this is to belive and warship
...hum?
Ericthebloodyred 4 years ago
...lets see..break someone down..force them to act a way..hum...that sounds...reminds me of something...
OH ya..brain washing....
P.S. I'm not a atheist, and yes i belive in god..>< i just hate churches and organized religons ..... i should have spent more time in english class i think ( can't spell)
Ericthebloodyred 4 years ago
You know, I'm atheist but I'm not anti-religion. I just dislike the fact that there are too many believers that don't think and that accept the Bible has a whole and universal truth. Blind brainwashed worshiping in short.
I'm glad you're not one of them =)
PsukeLukou 4 years ago
Worship and believe? you are pretty ignorant. Repentance is the key to salvation. If you know you are a sinner and don't repent you wont obtain mercy and see God's amazing grace. If you don't know God or are a pseudo Christian then I could see why ignorance is bliss. Hope that bliss is worth your eternity. God bless you all.
nodrahma 4 years ago
You assume to much, you think becuse people are talking about the bible that they dont seek repentance, and haven't come to know gods mercy.Sin is apart of the human way, the bible was wrote by humans. is it so hard to conceive that maybe it was changed to it could be used to control people?
People who defend the bible with out thought, really should open their minds and search for god.
Ericthebloodyred 4 years ago
If Adam and Eve never ate from the Tree, we wouldn't be where we are right now, would we? We'd be living in blissful ignorance in Paradise. However, people say that the trials we're going through makes us stronger, better people. So which would people nowadays find more important or better? Bettering themselves as human beings, or living in blissful ignorance? But would we even exist if Adam and Eve were never tempted by the Devil to eat from the Tree and gain Knowledge?
esperne 4 years ago
You're asking questions that wouldn't really make a difference to anyone but theists...
JumppStart 4 years ago
Because people who feel the overwhelming need to find comfort in God are sometimes the same people who feel the need to conquer and dominate to quell their own insecurities in life.
People struggle so much to find meaning in life that they often feel invalidated by the existence of someone whose beliefs invalidate their own.
Oh, wait. Was that rhetorical?

well thats just the thing, if it wasnt for the catholic scare tactics, the religion wouldnt have lasted this long. believing in God should be something to enjoy, not to fear. These people that write these books should stop fearing god and his wrath and start being afraid of their impact on the generations to come. thats something our ancestors have failed to do.
