  • I truly believe that politics has no business in the martial arts, tsd is especially known for this just look at all the associations there are. Compared to other arts. My whole point can be directed at the statement don't question your master. Which is not right ppl have a right to know this info n ask questions.

  • I am not ignorant to the fact that others have vast knowledge of the art but as far as the inner workings n behind the scenes stuff that goes on I guarantee even the top ranking dans in wtsda now probly have no clue as to why so many original charter members left so soon.

  • Is one of the nearly 300 ppl that left wtsda in 87 with my dad. N is also the man who helped create the logo I'm sure he'd sit down with you n answer anything you wanted to know. N if my dad is back from Korea he will also be present. I am quite aware of the diversity of tsd

  • I have a great idea we will be doing some clinics in the st Louis area as well as Detroit area at the end of oct begining of nov pending enrollments stay good at the dojangs out there. I will give you specifics when u get them. But the 7th dan in mo

  • Because I have, he's been in my house more times than I can count as well as cs kim, I've seen the behind the scenes political bs that goes on in national associations, I've seen the times studios have almost went broke having them out for clinics that they didn't even teach but had my dad teach instead.

  • @clinganc Again, this has nothing to do with anything. Present some facts or proof of anything you claim or move on.

  • My bone to pick is that u a 3rd dan n not even a member of wtsda would think u have more experience or knowledge than one of the most senior living Americans in tsd. I always find it funny in cases like this. Have u ever even met shin

  • @clinganc I am 4th dan now, if that makes a difference. I have met GM Shin, he was my instructor's teacher in Korea. I was a member of the WTSDA for many years, actually. I started TSD in 1975. I'm glad you want to stick up for your father, but you need to do a couple of things. 1 - realize that TSD is a diverse art and many of us have as much or more knowledge than he does. 2 - learn to write like an adult, and quit using the text message format or I am going to block you. It is annoying.

  • N I figured I would enlighten you. I have the original bylaws which were typed, created n signed by shin my father n gm yi. As well as the original logo design my mother n two other masters from u.s tsd designed. Including numerous plaques n letters thanking my dad for his efforts n creating them

  • @clinganc That's great, I'm glad he helped out. It still doesn't change who FOUNDED the Association, or who was the head of it. Every leader has assistance from many others.

  • The ihf was created in 1974 your right but st the time it was not national association. But in 1984 the constitution was rewritten n new bylaws were implimented to set it apart from Myung Jae Nams ihf. My issue is the assurance u tried to give one of my students on one of your comments.

  • @clinganc What assurance are you talking about? It's hard to follow your train of thought.

  • As The late bong soo Han who was another instructor/friend of my dads used the same bylaws my father wrote for world n just changed sum wording around. Only difference is he asked permission n gave credit where credits due. I can even tell you where wtsda was created

  • @clinganc Again, you have a grudge. Explain why. And the International Hapkido Federation was founded in 1974, so it is impossible that he used the by-laws of the WTSDA which came along in 1982.

  • The wtsda will probly crumble like the itf almost did a few years back when cs Kim retired n handed itf over to his son, good thing he realized what was about to happen n came outta retirement. You can also look at the international hapkido feds bylaws

  • @clinganc The WTSDA will continue or not continue, I am not a member and have no stake in it. Are you a member? If not, then it should be of no concern to you. You have an ax to grind here, why not explain why?

  • In fact there was a huge controversy on even proclaiming him grandmaster as the Korean masters were opposed to it because they felt he should earn it n grow as they n the association did. I have nothing against wtsda other than shin dosent give credit to anybody else but himself. What's gonna happen when he passes away?

  • @clinganc I guess I am not following your line of reasoning here. GM Shin was GM because he started the WTSDA. He often lists all those who have helped him along the way.

  • If you are able to find the original wtsda student manual you will see a page with the I believe 25 original charter masters in it, and by the end of 1983 17 of them left wtsda mostly the Koreans because they didn't agree w how shin was taking credit for everything.

  • @clinganc that doesn't mean anything, lol

Every organization is created because of the differences in opinion and large egos involved.

  • @ricktsdmdk yes I'm well aware of what he has stated I'm also well aware of why more than 85% of the original charter masters left in the first year. It's ok to believe whatever you want I'm simply letting you know it's false and that I have the original documents to prove it. Tang Soo

  • @clinganc Please describe these documents that you feel proves that GM SHin did not create his own forms or found his own Association.

  • @ricktsdmdk in reply to 1fightgirl request for her instructors name it's grandmaster William clingan 9th dan #5845. In all due respect there's nothing you can talk to him about these forms that he dosent know. He was shins right hand man from the 60's thru 1987.

  • @clinganc well, I had never heard of him until today, sorry.

  • @ricktsdmdk these forms were not officially created by shin neither was wtsda message me n I will Glady source it for u n show u copies if the original bylaws written by my father n gm ki yin yi or source it at the library of congress.

  • @clinganc I think I will defer to GM Shin in regards to what he ahs or has not done. He has stated multiple times that he is the creator of these forms and of course the World Tang Soo Do Association, which is his own organization after all.

  • If you look you can see where the kicks are intended to land, and it is not straight out in front like a side kick would be. I was also taught that the ball of your foot can be used in a round kick. And that almost makes more sense then using the top of the foot.

  • I do Tang Soo Do and he forgot to flatten his arm after the inside outside block, then punch. and im not trying to be rude or anything, but his round houses looked kind of messy. :/

  • Well, it's nice that you "do" Tang Soo Do. What rank are you? Just remember, every system is a little different, yours is probably a lot more stylized than what I teach. Don't be so quick to say someone is "wrong" just because it is different from the little bit of martial arts you have seen. Good luck!

  • I agree with ricksdmdk on the fact that every system is a little bit different. My Sah Bum Nim dosen't like us to flatten our arm. However I also agree with Ciararocksyersocks just because I, at first, thought he was doing a side kick...

It was a good form though!!

  • I guess I don't see how anyone would think this is a side kick, when they clearly go across in a flat circle pattern.....are you guys sure you know how to do a good side kick?

  • Thank you for the great videos. I have an 8 year old that just moved out of little dragons and will be working toward his orange belt soon. These videos will really help. Is there a video posting of the first form (Sae Kye Hyung Il Bu) that I am missing? I don't think it is necessary as my kid picked it up in one hour (with a little confusion on the turns), but it would make the series complete. Thanks again. Excellent work.

  • I am in the process of ere-shooting some material - I had a computer crash and lost all my videos on the hard drive.

  • i'm sorry but i train with a grang master of tang soo do who trained with grand master hwang key. and sae gye hyung il bo is front kick, sae gye hyung yi bo is round kick, and sae gye hyung sahm bo is side kick side center punch.and they are required to make it to 6 th gup green belt in our system.

  • I'm sorry for you. Hwang Kee had NOTHING to do with these forms. They were created by JC Shin. Second, you are wrong - it is round kick on the third form, side kick on the second form, just as I have them here. Look up any source material to find the same answer. If you are being taught differently, YOUR instructor is WRONG

  • what is your rank? and where do you teach?

  • i would just like to know so i can bring this up to my grand master whom has studied tang soo do for 50 years. and my master instructor.

  • I would be happy to talk to either of them. Who are they? What rank and where are they located?

  • 3rd dan - Carlinville IL

  • There are different tang soo do organisations and there are variations in their forms, so no one is really 'WRONG'. I study 'world' tang soo do like you (under JC Shin), so i perform Sae Kye Hyung Sam Bu with the round kick and centre punch too, but i think 'international' tang soo do have a differnet 3rd form altogether. I'm not sure though...

  • There is only one version of the Sae Kye Hyungs - they were created by JC Shin specidically for the WTSDA. Any changes made would cause the form to not be the same form, but a completely different form.

  • sam bu should have a round house kick. not a side. and the bunch is center. with an inside-outside block. those are the moves. and i know. im a 2nd degree black. hehehe.

  • It is a round kick, see description. And for a 2nd degree black you don't know much. HeHeHe

  • i wasn't telling you, i was telling them. all the people who are saying it should be a side. you did it right. im not criticising.

  • Sorry, I misunderstood

  • its ok. i prolly would have made the same mistake with how i worded it. sorry for the confusion.

  • is that a side kick with side center punch?thats what it should be

  • It is round kick and center punch from forward stance.
