I feel this song is teaching kids incorrectly. It's likening Christ to a superhero like Batman, Yu-gi-oh, Superman (all magical) etc. Jesus is NOT a superhero. He is our Father's son who died for us. How could you even put him in this category when he is so plainly much higher than a fictional being? He is the almighty, not some action figure. Yes, I'm all for energising kids and making it fun, but this could be done with truthful words about Christ. He is NOT a superhero!!
@Beanyjen I would have to disagree with you on that one. Jesus is the ultimate superhero! He came to earth, powerful as he was, to live amongst us, so that he might save us. Superman (and most other superheroes for that matter) are types of Christ, but He is the original.
@neuclearwaste1 Sorry, but I just can't see how he is superhero like. You cannot liken any fictional character as "Christ like". Christ is unique in every way. No one is "Christ like" except for Christ himself!! He is the ultimate being, not ultimate Superhero!
kids place of growth spiritualy is the home where parents role is the preaching and practical way of living out the Kingdom of GOD principle.
Bible says to respect your father and mother on earth as they are GOD`s representative. It is the home where love and affection and forgiveness must be experiencing
We do this song at our church as well. When entertaining children you have to be creative & energetic! This song gets their attention & makes it fun. We all need Jesus to be our Superhero
Aren't there better things we could be doing to teach children through song? I feel like this is so fluffy and light in theology. The verses are true and I don't knock those truths, but comparing Jesus to a superhero seems rather pathetic. He's our Lord and Savior. He is many things, and I think it's sort of lame to limit his attributes to what's said in this song.
Oh, COME ON. It's not like the kids will think beyond this song or read between the lines or whatever. As long as their hearts are pure and their praises are sincere, God wouldn't mind. Geez. They're just kids. This is just a way to reach out to them.
But why would we waste our time with something so simple? Kids can understand a lot more than many people give them credit for. Truths SHOULD be presented in songs in a way that children can understand them, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't waste an opportunity to sing songs filled with rich truths and that leads them to a deeper understanding of our God.
Nicely put. Whatever grabs a childs attention to teach him/her the ways of Jesus as long as we are spreading the message of the gospel. Everyone needs Jesus to be their Superhero! =)
Right.... sort of, but as an associate children's pastor, and worship leader, i have realized that kids won't get into what is being said and or done, unless it is fun and energetic. We have tried all avenues, and awesome songs like this one are just for bringing the kids in. There are still the 2 and 3 songs for intimacy, but I don't think you have hit the nail on the head with this one.
oh i love this song..... such ameaning full song. Wenever i hear it tears roll out my eyes....
