Lou Reed is in his element when he does shit like this. Why these days he tries so hard to hide the darker side of life that he once embraced is unknown - perhaps just old age. This is great and a reminder of how powerful lyrics can be. His clumsy, messy guitar perfectly fits the story, messy, dirty, unclean, violent, someone getting tied up, getting cut up is not going to be clean.
i totally agree, except this song is all about fathers and sons, NOT bein tied up and cut up! listen to the recorded version. still an AMAZING version of an AMAZING song
While The Wost Are Filled With Passion And Intensity, now you figure out where Lou is?
One of his great song's. Bravo to his band. They get so little mention. Tony "thunder" Smith, Mike Rathke and the swooping base of Fernando. Beautiful and dark.
I remember watching that at the time; Lou only played 2 songs during the programme which was concluded with this "rock menuet". Jools had probably guessed that no other could possibly follow that one.
