  • Incase you guys are wondering, the opera song is called 'Barcarolle' written by Offenbach. It is a very beautiful piece that I listen to occasionally after hearing it for the first time in this movie.

  • lol i watched this in Peace Studies and my reacher said at 6:20 that was one way the italians say fuck you

  • @XxMadMax593 Haha! We have the same gesture in Portugal, instead of the english "finger".

It's called "manguito" in portuguese and "gesto dell'ombrello" in italian (I think). You can google it for funny vids and pictures too.

  • LMFAO i love the scene where he is in the school

  • I love how he looks at her... He's so endearing to watch. :)

"thats too bad cause the very very fried mushrooms were out of this world"

  • The dubbed version is not as funny as the original, making the film lose a little bit of its meaning. Subtitles would have been much better. Benigni is classic!

  • LMAO THAT DUDE IS SO FUNNY! "You see, I can only hear out of my left ear." "Princess, Princessa..." it's so adorable!!! i dunno, I love the way he says it <3 XD He's not handsome but his attitude makes him cute in a goofy way, if I was the beautiful Italian woman I would melt ! ^^

  • 5:08 um, why's that boy making that face? lol

  • HAhhaaa i Love this Movieeeee

  • My teacher instructed my class to read Night by Elie Wietsel and then watch Life is Beautiful. After watching it all I could say the next day is "what is the name of that opera". After going to the library and borrowing The Tales of Hoffman c.d., I learned the name of that echanting song was Belle Nuit. It took my breath away then and still brings tears to my eyes today. I have instructed my two daughters to sing this to me on my deathbed.

  • I love the opera too. Night is a sad book but it was also really good.

  • I love the book Night...I read it the first time when I was in the 4th grade, and I thought it was amazing. I began to learn on my own about the holocaust and did research and the whole enchilada. I love the whole history of the way everything happened. It's sad, but interesting.

  • Very interesting... like a crazy nightmare. So unreal...

  • oh our teacher did the same thing though i'd seen the movie before,

  • Lot of scenes has been cut from the original version !!

    What's a pity!

The opera is "The tales of Hoffman" (Les contes d'Hoffmann) by Jacques Hoffenbach

  • what is the name of the opera

  • @windtalker70 Barcarolle, i think

  • I hope american films don't lose so much meaning when translated in italian!!

  • There's a scene cut from the Italian version at 2:35. The Principal exchanges the seat of two childrens, moving the first one, brown-haired, on the seat of the last one, blond and skyblue-eyed, in conformity of contemporary racial convinctions

  • the outfit she wears at the school is the least attractive one in the whole movie next to the rags at the concentration camp

  • i just watched this in

  • this movie is best of best, and roberto is so sweet and funny

  • The belly button haha!

  • this man is very funny make the best out of all situation

  • lol I love how he made every thing sound less appealing so that the very conveniently placed salmon, salad and wine would've been the only option the inspector had left.

  • Yes, That was very funny.

  • My English teacher Mr. Stephenson cried at the end of the movie, it kinda made me wanna cry too when I watched it in class.
