This truly is one of the most impressive movie sets ever constructed in film history perhaps only rivaled by DW Griffiths Intolerance in 1916...But alas this film was exorbitantly expensive and a box office and critical failure and lost Bronston millions and they couldn't afford to keep this structure standing. It effectively closed the chapter on the big budget roman epic for decades.
Uh may zing. Wow. Thanks so much for sharing. And what a truly disappointing statement about our modern world to just throw it away. And why have I never even heard of this film? Huh. I will seek it out. :)
The last great epic of the golden age of Hollywood epics! The set is amazing and having visited Rome it is a perfect re-creation of the forum. Thanks for sharing this.
the reconstruction is almost perfect, god dammit it's a movie that dates back in the 60 '

@Evocati2008
Hey, you were not listening! Play it again, and you will hear the answer.

@Finkelgruber
I heard it afterwards, sorry
What a waste, imagine if they could have used these sets for HBO's Rome etc etc.

@Evocati2008 No harm done, but you are right, they could have used it for many movies and documentaries, plus as a tourist attraction too.
