I own the 7002's and my brother owns the 5002's. The 5002 is definitely a smoother pedal. I can do a whole lot more with the single side of the 5002. the 7000 series is perfect for the money, but save up a little more and invest in the 5000

If you are using your right pedal for extended periods of time, take the left pedal off the head. You are killing the sound and making extra work for yourself.
If you rest the beater on the pedal that means you have to make an extra effort to bring the pedal back and then strike it towards the drum again. You could eliminate half of that, but making sure it's in the resting position. All you would have to do is strike it, instead of bring it back and then striking.
