Not so well actually because for instance botswana started with no hunting and 40,000 elephants and with hunting 140,000 elephants, Kenya started with 120,000 elephants and now without hunting they number around 80,000. If a cull is necessary then why not sell the right to kill to hunters who have an interest in this type of shooting? Do you people not understand that Africa has the fastest growing human populations on the planet? As someone who has lived amoung Africans in Botswana i can say that they do not see the value of wildlife, they would prefer to kill ALL the elephants and raise cattle in the Okavango instead, its costs 60K US to take an elephant and the africans get a cut of that, ONLY if the africans see the value of wildlife will they allow them to survive. otherwise you can look forward to elephants' extinction.

Culling is a necessary part of life. To us westerners, elephants are these great big cuddly creatures that we need to protect but to African farmers they are a pest that can destory over 3 tonne of crops in a day leaving the farmers with nothing. They starve and their families die. Would you kick up the same stink if they spray for insects? I think not but they are gods creatures to arent they? Pull you heads out of your ass and see the world for what it is.

Here in Australia we need to cull rabbits in Africa its elephants. Its cruel but its simply the way of life. Not so well actually because for instance botswana started with no hunting and 40,000 elephants and with hunting 140,000 elephants, Kenya started with 120,000 elephants and now without hunting they number around 80,000. The hunters pay the cash that protects these animals from poaching and keeps the wild places wild.

If a cull is necessary then why not sell the right to kill to hunters who have an interest in this type of shooting? The animal is going to end up dead anyway so why not bring in some money in the process? It makes sense all the way. From a purely personal perspective however, I have met a number of these `armchair adrenalin junkies` and have found them to be sorely inadequate personalities, but hiding behind a big bank account. Im a hunter and I simply have nothing in common with them. Zero.
