Did you have your Dana 60's in this video. Maybe Im looking at the wrong Jeep but it looks like your are running different wheels and tires. Not the 20's with 40's
do you you think the two doors or the four do better overall in that terrain? does the shorter wheelbase give it an advantage, also do you think the 4 door has a better overall ride quality on road? thanks
@dre200112000 the only place the 2-door has an advantage is in the s-turn. aside from that, i think that 4-doors have the advantage here. overall ride quality on or off road, the 4-door has the 2-door beat.
@wayalife i'll say the shorter wheelbase of the 2dr also has an advantage for beach driving. i know you're more of a rocks guy, but just thought i'd throw my .02 out there.
I've turned in to a "Project-JK" junkie...Sandra, you've got mad video recording & editing skills. Your final posts are worthy of high praise. What are you using for cameras and editing software? On PC or Mac? Did you teach yourself how to do this or do you have some formal background in video? I've been toying with the idea of building a J8 Milspec (AEV) with a 4BT and NV4500 HD tranny on some 40 or 42's...
@YELLEBG thank you. we are just using a cheap sony hd cam that we bought at costco and adobe premier cs5 on a pc. cindy, taught herself how to do all this - no schooling.
@wayalife Sorry for the getting the name wrong Cindy...ugh...long week....wanna be wheelin' instead of workin'. Your vids are truly a blessing! Great work! Lovin' the music too! Nice balance between that & "jeepin' sounds". C'est magnifique!
I currently own a 06 TJ with 3 inch teraflex and 32 inch tires. Love it but have been dreaming of a CJ. I have watched all your videos with the JK and really think jeep needs to contact you for marketing options, because you are really making me want to hop down to the dealership. Great stuff.
@wayalife You'd think people would have the respect to at least pick up after themselves..I never would have guessed thats what they where for though hah. I joined your forum just the other day, awesome site! username: lol just JK
@TheKodaShane yeah, you would think. funny thing is, these same yahoos who whine about all our trails getting closed and wonder why. glad that you found our forum :)
Very nice to see the garbage bag hanging on the back, not often we see responsible trail users. If everyone did this to haul out trash we would have a lot less trail closures.

When you rock crawl are you in 4L or 4H? because with 4H you get better speed, but with 4Lyou get more torque, and last question is on the gear box for an automatic the last two things say 2 then 1 is this just for towing or do you put it in 1 so as to not overheat somefluid i forget which. Also were your dana 60's hard to install? Sorry about all my questions
@iconhelmets you always want to rockcrawl in 4L and 2 and 1 should be used. regarding the dana 60's, you will need to get gears and lockers installed by a professional.

I love the video, superbly produced, but what some of you videodudes do not understand is that not everyone wants to look at shit on a toilet seat. I was about to post a link to the video in a memo to my commercial clients and family, but not all of them appreciate, for any number of reasons, the last few seconds of the video. In producing a video for general viewing, was the shit on the toilet seat necessary or could it have been left to our imagination? Not images one posts in a business memo.
@wayalife alright thanks man i wanna get a white 4 door wrangler manual sport package one last question is the humvee looking soft top original or aftermarket? the soft top but not the original square shape the Humvee looking one
@wayalife Yea was gonna say, most people prefer an auto because they don't like to clutch, but I think if properly driver, a manual is more capable. I've seen too many occasions where accidents on the trail could have been avoided by simply disengaging the clutch, but since they were using an auto it just kept driving forward. Just my .02 anyhow.
nice videos man they are great. im actually in the process of buying a 2001 wrangler sport with only 34,000 miles. its been lifted and has a winch so besides it not having locking diffs( although i think they are critical) its pretty setup for hitting the trails. im curious where you got that rack on the back that holds the gas cans on either side of the tire. ide be interested in one when i pick my jeep up next spring. too bad you guys arent closer to north idaho, i need people to trail with!
I whis, I would life in the united states of amerika..... to share the same passion, but over here in germany its not legal to drive in the nature, everyone is immediately pissed of..... oh I tink I have to move my ass ;-) great vid great landscape, and also great cars...... have fun this summer, ;-)

I've been on most of these trails with my horse. There are some pretty tricky spots back there but it sure is beautiful. If you get a chance, try the Black Diamond trail. I've done this by accident coming in from the back side. Makes for some interesting riding;)
did the person who told you this explain their logic behind this comment? honestly, this person doesn't know what the heck they're talking about. it's only bad to be in 4LO if you're driving on pavement or need to exceed speeds over 30 mph. for the most part, if you're on a tough trail that you're creeping along on, it's better to keep it in 4LO the whole time. this is pretty much standard practice.
my uncle really got me into jeeps and I feel like getting a manual would be a pain for offroading/two tracking because you have to constantly shift/clutch. Is it worth it to have a manual? What are the most beneficial parts of having one?
well, in all fairness, when you're on a tough trail, you're pretty much in 4LO the whole time and not really shifting a whole lot or, at least, that's what you should be doing. granted, an auto is so much easier to wheel in and whenever i do, i feel like i'm cheating. a manual is best in steep descents as you have way better engine braking abilities.
I have another question, when mudding should you use 4l or 4h? I know 4l puts more torque but do you need more torque when mudding? Or should i just engage 4l when hitting the really bad stuff, and 4h on the easy stuff? Thankyou!!!
depends on the mud, how deep it is and how you plan on taking it. i prefer to keep it in 4LO but in a higher gear so that i can spin the wheels hard to help clear the tread if needed. but then, i'm out in socal where we don't see a whole lot of mud and i know back east and in the south, it's a whole different game altogether.
use your e-brake. depending on how steep of a hill or rock you are on, it will hold or hold just enough. keep your hand on the e-brake and as you start letting off the clutch/applying gas, wait till you start to feel it move forward and slowly let the e-brake down. this will also help you to keep your rpm's down and clutch burning to a minimum.
Whe do you American's always have to spoil your video's with a music sound track? The sound of the Jeep's is all that's needed!! Appart from the music, great video.
Why do you American's have to mess up every video with a music sound track? The sound of the Jeep's is all that I want to hear!! Other than that, great video.
WOW just amazing my dad just got me a 07 jeep sahara unlimited but one problem........ its f***ing 2wd now it will go through more than any other 2wd but should i try to buy a new transmision and drive shaft to make it 4. and one other thing, tell me somthing to convence him to let me get 4wd. he says "you will just go out ther and beat it up" and how much is your insurence
all you need is a transfer case and a front axle. depending on what you are planning to do, you can find a used dana 30 front axle for cheap and an X or sahara transfer case for cheap too. insurance really isn't that much more than what you are paying now.
to tell you the truth i actully agree with you on that, but it is hard to keep it on road man and i would rather buy my own if i had the money cause its like owning a trophy that somebody bought for you

This comment has received too many negative votesshow
if you like wheeling a school bus... 4 door jks have all the disadvantages of trucks with the long wheel base and all the disadvantages of the jeep with the small engine. if you wheel something that big you might as well have a powerful engine...

Do you have to have a jk to go wheelen with you because i have a wrangler x and do you know any good trails in florida.
yourmoma0403 2 years ago
nope, anyone is welcome but most of the people who do come do own JK's. as far as trails in FL goes, sorry, i wouldn't know.

whats the deal with the burlap bags hanging off the back of some of the jeeps?
pacificcoast 2 years ago
they are trash bags - we use them to pick up crap that others leave behind.
wayalife 2 years ago
very commendable! we do the same thing when camping out in the desert. i'm happy to see you guys doing a good thing for the sport/hobby.
pacificcoast 2 years ago
kudos to you. really. leave only foot prints. take only pictures

yup. the 3.8 isn't the greatest motor but it does get the job done.

Brings back memories. I spent a lot of time there back in the '90s with my CJ-5. Now I'm in Oregon with that same old Jeep.

and yet people think 4 door jk;s suck they are great
morito12345678 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
if you like wheeling a school bus... 4 door jks have all the disadvantages of trucks with the long wheel base and all the disadvantages of the jeep with the small engine. if you wheel something that big you might as well have a powerful engine...
odwaud 2 years ago
its not big I have one now and outwheel all tj's
morito12345678 2 years ago
Unlimited's aren't that bad man.. and they don't weight much more
c4ifford 2 years ago
Um... for most wheeling it's more about gearing than pure power. The school bus's do really well for a factory vehicle.
