  • I was a uni student at the time and this guy offered to take me there in his car to Newtown and he played Roaring Jack tapes all the way there and back. It was a great night, spoilt by the news that this was to be the band's last gig because the piano accordion player wanted out or something like that. We were all very vocal in our response, I remember that much. What a night. What a bloody good band. No one came close. Australian folk music since then has been just shyte.

  • Was this the band's last time at the Sandringham? I was there for their last show. It all looks a bit familiar. I remember the energy of that night, if nothing else. The place went right off. Very sorry to hear of Alistair's passing. A very fine talent and a genuinely nice guy.

  • Can't believe Ally's gone from us. RIP my friend. The world's a sadder place. Hail Hail.
