Well, they weren't Marines. They were all Army from varying areas (no the marines are not a part of the Army, completely different division.) Now, the U.S. had 19 casualties. The Somali's lost an estimated 1,500-2,000. So, the Army had about 100-1 kill ratio, and got Aidid. Asses kicked? Not hardly.
@unknownspartan9 yeah but thats also because somalis are peasants who can barely hold a gubn? Look at them walking the street as mob. Not hard to get an awesome Kd in such cicumstances. But still I respect them for what they did.
@FloChris It depends on if you are talking about the more militia or the soldiers of the warlord. For the militia that would be certainly correct, not so for the soldiers. Did the Army have superior training and equipment? Absolutely. Were they outnumbered thousands to one? Absolutely. Not hard to kill foes who aren't trained for this, but I wasn't bragging on them for that. Merely pointing out that this was not a military defeat or "ass kicking" as others were trying to say.

Second off, refer to the first item so you don't feel like you told someone off for making a point no one was talking about (This is all basic critical thinking my friend, try college, it helps.) Lastly, Losing a life is a tragedy, no doubt, however, we are looking from an analytic perspective. If you can't deal with death, then this world will break you mercilessly.
