  • Doc Severinsen hahahahahahahah u funny

  • the best,,,EVER

  • Maynard is not "The Boss"... that title belongs to Mr. Doc Severinsen

  • commenting just to bring u back to this vid

  • Just ignore the troll. Not everybody likes Maynard for whatever reason(s). Certain individuals make it their life's mission to inform the rest of us on the internet of how we're wrong. It's an opinion, plain and simple, arguing about it is pointless. Maynard Ferguson is one of the greatest of all time and nothing you say 'tpstrat14' will change my view; just like nothing I say will change yours. Go watch some videos of musicians you do respect. OOPS, I fed the troll.

  • WHOOOA!!! VINNIE MORE IS PLAYING TRUMPHET!!!!

  • i have heard him play this way better but no worries still a great player

  • This was really really good. i wish they played it a little slower though. it would have sounded better really slow :)

  • @MrTrumpetkid24 Listen to stan kentons version arranged by johnny richards thats slower

  • me puedes pasar las partituras

  • So he's playing those last few notes and I'm thinkin "hmmm why doesn't he take that down an octave and make it sound nice instead of like a choking mouse?" Is it because he can't? I'm starting to suspect this about Maynard. He had freakishly strong face muscles, but not musicality in his heart. Oops. Looks like we made a star out of nothing, people...

  • @tpstrat14 - Possessing "musicality in his heart" or not, Maynard was most definitely a star. He performed professionally for over half a century, inspired multiple generations of aspiring musicians, helped groom and boost the careers of his band members to the next level, and his music clearly spoke to millions of fans.

I personally think Maynard was full of musicality and heart and it could be heard through his music, but I am sure I will not change your mind and do not seek to.

  • @tagman90 I understand that he was popular. That is the very reason that his lack of musicality pisses me off so much. He's the radio/ pop star of trumpet players. No real musicality, but has a gimmick (playing super high notes) that makes him popular.

  • @tpstrat14 excuse the language. you fucken dumb trash douche bucket shut the fuck off and go burn in hell what the fuck are you bullshitting about?! not musical? go fuck yourself. not musical? dont screw with me.

    /watch?v=REAlPEWq33c&feature=related

listen to him play gospel john. there is a reason he is on the top 100 list of influential jazz trumpeters. and its not just the high notes. -_- way to ruin the day. fucken dickweed

  • @luksteal I've seen that already. And I've miraculously held in my throw up while listening to that already. lol... He's just plain horrible. No tone quality, no soul, no control, no accuracy. Go find some good music to listen to and maybe you won't be such a whiny little bitch...

  • @tpstrat14 you need to grow up and figure out you're talking about before you open that big mouth of yours. There's a reason why he's on youtube and you're just talking shit from your bedroom that's probably in your parents house. I don't see videos of you playing>>>>because your a asshole with no talent and a big mouth.

  • @rmtoyama maynard is SHIT. SHIT I tell ya! I mean that from the bottom of my heart....

  • @tpstrat14 dude, you may not like maynard ferguson, and thats fine, not everyone likes the same music. But you go on, and on, and on about it like you think the very world depends on everyone knowing you hate maynard. You sway nobody, and people like him for more than ihs high notes, those are just icing on the cake. So ya, that's all I have to say about that

  • @TheTheTrumpeter "Maynard's high notes are like icing on the cake" That brings an interesting analogy to mind. Maynard as a trumpet player is a cake made totally of icing! There's no cake in there, let alone a healthy meal of pasta and vegetables before the cake!!!

  • @tpstrat14 So you take one part of my comment and make it look like the whole thing? Very mature man... Now I ask you, WHY do you go to different Maynard vids and act like the fate of the world depends on everyone knowing you hate Maynard? Most of the people here listen to other trumpeters, and other genres in general, and know there are peoplle better than Maynard in different aspects. We like his guy because of his charisma, love of music, and because of the music he makes, not high notes.

  • @TheTheTrumpeter This ain't goin anywhere, buddy. I hate Maynard and I am very passionate about it. It is very, very, very rare that I cannot respect a musician, but for Maynard I make an exception. Why should charisma and love of music be included with "the music he makes". IT SHOULD BE ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC HE MAKES. And the music he makes is shit. You really care about a guy's charisma if he doesn't make good music? You see, this is my point....

  • BITCH IM DAH BOSS NIGGAH

  • El mejor

  • I love this song .... and Maynard playing it!

  • I like how the light makes a trail when his trumpet moves

  • grande maynard!!!!

  • He was the greatest. His trumpet work will last forever.

  • its truely wonderful how two players like arturo and maynard can p lay the same song two completely different ways and have it sound amazing

  • Fantastic rendition of this piece - Maynard was the real deal - a brilliant trumpeter with that extra charisma and poise with the timing of the notes, which is the mark of a true pro.

  • I'm gonna try to play like MF one day...but idk when that's gonna happen....all i can say is soon!

  • click 2:15 over and over. I love it.

  • i knew mark had a black trumpet, but a flugelhorn too? awesome

  • The real "Hot Lips " Hannigan from the Flintstones.

  • Oops. our record copy was the Kenton version.

  • listen Crazy funky by minicillo

  • Marcinkiewz Concer Hall all the way!

  • so...what are you saying exactly?

  • The version of this song on the NEW VINTAGE album rocks so much.

It's my favorite MF song EVER.

  • lol I really like the MF model. BUT I have zero power on it for some reason. Great control though.

  • XL bore, its hard to provide the air those things need. Hence, Maynard was a soloist and not a lead player . Its a lot easier to do that kind of stuff on a good ol' strad.

  • MF mouth peice by Jet Tone. To shallow of a cup. My lips hit the bottom of it. I played the Al Hirt Model by Jet Tone. Almost identical but was a little deeper cup.

  • try the Monette MFIII, very weird model- you might find it interesting if your a good cornet player

  • i just got a jet tone MF it feels weird

  • any one know what kind of mouth piece that is

  • I believe Maynard used a "Jet-Tone" mouthpiece. It has a very shallow cup.

  • Actually if I'm not mistaken the cup is actually "inverted". I had one for a long time and I had to switch because there was literally ZERO resistance and I was overblowing the band haha Really really comfortable piece tho

  • great!

  • GRANDEEEEEEEEEEEEEE....

    eri e rimarrai un mito

  • He's an amazing player, but he looks like he strains too much on the notes.

If you see players like Harry James, he plays the notes with ease.

Still an amazing trumpet player though.

  • Harry James doesn't play at the octaves that Maynard does, that's why it looks like Harry James is rocking the middle register lol.

  • High C at the end guys

  • no, it's a double G

  • HAHA..."High C guys high c"..."no sorry...double G" How the hell do you get that mixed up lol.

  • F!

    Not G not C

  • I believe that was a G, thanks.

  • I like the original way better but this one is still good, this one was probably one of his experiments

  • Thanks

  • ISSO É DEMAIS.

  • that song is rediculos. i have a recording of a guy who can do that amazingly well.

  • what was the highest note , a double A ?

    just curious

  • if your asking that then your not here to admire music.

  • Sounded like am F

  • Not Maynard's best performance of "Maria" but nice nonetheless.

  • What's that dark, roundish horn in the middle of the trumpets at the beginning of the vid? Is it just a flugel horn held differently?

  • its just a black flugel horn the make black trumpets too i see them all the time mostly cannonball makes em black

  • bach does too.

  • does it affect the tone at all

  • Check it out, thats his V-cup jet tone! I play on the same piece. :)

  • tnx boss!! RIP

  • Rest in Peace, Maynard. I hope you're still giving concerts way up in the sky, man.

  • MF will always be the greatest player in the stratosphere!!! What a trumpet section God has at his side!

Maynard will live long in our memeories

  • He is, and always will be one of the major reasons we play the horn. RIP Boss.

  • The NEW VINTAGE version is the best. I love the "chord push" in the brass near the end where they repeat the whole thing 3 times straight.

  • The clarity in his "voice" is amazing

  • it sounds like caravan in teh beginning

  • Thanks for the comment!

  • Thank you for putting this video up. Maynard was the best. RIP MF.

  • Thank you...

  • @Toddlip The best version is from Arturo Sandoval!

  • I love playing along to this tune.

    R.I.P Maynard

  • It's a beautiful song.

  • @mbuggy11 I love playing along to this tune as well. But not this version. Listening to Maynard is like finding some random high school chump trumpet player and listening to him. He sucks...

  • Thank you sooo much!! I really need to go out and buy all the Maynard Ferguson DVDs.. can't find shit on Google or when I do research for these videos elsewhere..

  • That's the thing you are using Google. Never use that piece of crap. Use Altavista, Yahoo or go on ebay.

  • :o oki lol

  • Great....

  • aaaa! i have this video i was gona upload this weekend :{, u got it first lol

  • My friend I didn't get it I always had it.
