  • i'll be fair, that demo 5 mins in is the most goreous solo iv heard in a long time :D

  • It was nice. I am new to electric guitar, I have an ZOOM 505 II . How do I get the tone as you have ?

  • check my website I do a video on bending strings

  • Bro can u tell me how and do u play the bends? and yeah great video

  • very nice guitar..what model is it?

  • I was confused at first because I thought 'well if i've got C,D,E,F,G,A,B' for a C major scale, then what would the point be of the playing the chords? Then I realised that firstly the pentatonic only has five of those notes and that what you are trying to explain is how to use the SHAPES of chords on the neck for arpeggios and NOT adding new notes, so the melody comes from playing shapes rather than including foreign notes. I also had to move things down a fret to play along with this video.

  • @cardinalfire999 yes, the idea is to use rhythm guitar knowlege to quickly brighten blues scales with some arpegios.

  • @cardinalfire999 Woops sorry I responded to the wrong guy fucking youtube sucks!

  • Thamks a lot matey. That was really interesting

  • Thanks man, you just gave me what I needed.

  • you need a soul for good solo...even with just minor or major pentotonic you can writhe a melodic solo that kicks ass..it is good to know every detail about theory...but honestly the minor a major scales are all you need...you can always add some other tones here and there without knowing what fucking scale you are playing...just feel it man and livi it...thats rock and roll

  • @minolezgun yeah man groovy.

  • @minolezgun u need a soul for solos? are you trying to say gingers cant write solos?

  • @RedneckChexMix yeah...they have to know the theory hhahha

  • @minolezgun lol o yea i forgot about this comment lol ..gingers..

  • @minolezgun Ummm bull shit Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil and look at him. he's known as the greatest Delta Blues player ever.

  • @metalfreak4677 o.O yeah...i know but what this have to do with me? just cant get it.

  • @minolezgun Sorry I was responding to this other guy but by accident I replyed to you.

  • What sort of strat is that? Also, I think your sound is clipping somewhat. Good lesson nonetheless.

  • tnx very much. nice lessons.

  • Great lesson, really gives people something to think about rather than just running up and down the blues scale with memorised licks.

  • That was very good thank you!!

  • First of all, your guitar is tuned half-tone below. I usually don´t recomend that to my students. You will never sounds "melodic" if you still remain on pentatonics. You have just showed up "arpeggios" builded on pentatonics scales. Sometimes they are beautiful, but sometimes they are pretty boring. Because they are really telling the story with the same "words", see?

P.S. In Do Maior tonality, 5th grade(V) is always with 7th. Example: C-Am-F-G7

  • @CarlosBluesman The whole point of this lesson is two go beyond pentatonics, I think you have not really understood it . I am using pentatonics but only as background glue . this lesson is mainly about using major and minor arpegios based on common chord shapes. The idea is to easily convert common chord knowledge into a way to play melodies that go beyond pentatonics

  • @CarlosBluesman you have Have No clue what you are talking about, even without the 7th of the Diatonic V chord in Major, The V chord will always have a dominant function...Eric Johnson Uses pretty much only pentatonics and he's pretty fucking melodic.

  • this helps alot mate thanx

  • i hate british people.

  • @wntersun666 That's ignorant man, fuck you.

  • Excellent, many thanks Mr. Brent, great lesson!

  • I can't play it all yet...i just finished watching the vid...without guitar in hand...but it's already helped. I've got new options...thanks!!

  • RIGHT ON BROTHER!!!!

  • Let it Be and Country rodes chords?

  • @iPodtouchgamesplay And, like, 3 million other songs.

  • great video. lots of help.

  • thats a pretty shiny fretboard, dude 0.0

  • What defines "melodic" exactly?

  • Tape Echo? It sounds like it.

  • really like the video bro, took me out of my same phrase slump ive been in

  • yeah but the problem is how to record wat u write down

  • @zhihuizeng tab it out. you can even get guitar pro for free (i can help yah if u need ;D)

  • @DescentFromHeaven o sure if u would like too!

  • @zhihuizeng haha if u need guitar pro still, i can help you get that :D PM me if yah need help.

  • @DescentFromHeaven okay yeah i need ur help

  • Since when did zach galifianakis shave and pick up a guitar

  • @mooseymooseymoosey3 and started living in england

  • okay i got the positions as they correspond to the chords being played like the G shape on 5th for the C chord. but then you play a lot more than just the notes in that chord, i'm guessing in a scale or something but i'm still trying to figure all that stuff out. so if you could try and explain that for me haha. i dunno if i'm making any sense

  • @faustie31 yes im also playing the am blues scale. If its the 5th fret I'm playing first position, if its the 8th im playing 2nd position, 10th fret 3rd po, 12th fret 4th and 3rd fret 5th. the scale appears top right of the vid. good luck dan

  • @danbohane okay so what about when, for example, you play the D shape on 5th for the G chord, and then that B that you play on the high E string isn't on your blues scale. do you include that in your range of notes for the solo?

  • @faustie31 yes you can include it , the idea of this is to take you outside of the blues scale. playing the B will give you the third of the G chord, so it will fit

  • One of the best videos. thanks a lot

  • I've been playing for twenty years & the idea of using chord shapes over a melody to produce melodic solos is very, very sound - I like this lesson a lot. 5/5

  • @rusty2222 hi rusty, yes it an amazing concept. and you can take it further using 7ths shapes and dimished shapes or infact any chord shape. dan

  • hey this is my guitar teacher (hi dan

  • @TheRAND0MVideos hello , however this is.

  • @TheRAND0MVideos it DYLAN

  • What model type Strat is that ?

It looks like a nice one !

    Stu

  • Awesome video,man. Thanks alot :D

  • You freakin rock! You helped the knowledge click in me finally! I am grateful!!

  • thanks for the vids man, its mostly stuff i knew already but seeing another person saying and playing it helps to drill it into my head a little. very down to earth + informative videos :)

  • Thanks bud, this is really helpful, too many lessons fail to teach beginner guitarists some of the "tricks of the trade" early on. Having just learned the 5 positions of Am pentatonic, your techniques are helping me advance more quickly. Cheers!
