Personally i dont like sc4k as much as i liked sc3k and sc2k because it was there when the game actually started failing a bit as i liked the timeline function that exsisted in SC3K, dya know start at 1900, 1950, 2000 and move onwards...
SC:S really messed up, played it for one day then uninstalled it because of it's mechanics.
@Xomazai SC4 (except for the time line) improved on every other category that SC3K delivered. My vote still have to go with the clearly better SC4. To each thier own though, if you want to keep backing an inferior game, go right ahead.
I think Societies is pretty good because of the improvements.. but I hate how it lacks some fun features from Simcity 4. You can't build regions for instance.. you can only change the percentage of foilage (trees grass etc), water...... mountains.. it's random... I liked having cities built on the land that I've made in God mode in Simcity 4.. seeing them grow big and going down mountains for instance.... but Simcity Societies is fun to play for the improvements.
I personally like the game! Its something new and diffrent! I like the change from just zoning and the other things that you did in SC4. I wasn't to good at it so i like this game better because of that!
while i was good at, and liked the idea of zoning, i agree, that while this game is different, i like the personality when it comes to chosing buildings. i remember in sc3k the buildings would always repeat too much. Now, the player can make a city that looks moderately reallistic, Also the authoritarian is a fun idea.
Hi, To Build Trees It Is Determined On The Size Of The Tree. So If Your Building A Smaller Tree You Will Only Need A Square To Build It. When I Say Square I Mean 4 Red Blocks Put Together To Make A Square.
This game had sooo much potenial, I think they got half way through making it and just couldnt think of anything else to put into the game, so they just boxed it up and shipped it out.although the graphics are cool you really need a high end market pc too run it really well, i meet the system specs, and when the city starts too kick off it really does lag a little, The people who have brought the game and are unable to play casue of their pc crashing all the time are not missing out on much

Hmm, I tried to install this game but, it says that it can't authorize the disc within the time-limit, then, I selected the 'Try again' button, but then, soon after I select try again it says it can't find a valid device, is this because I just but a crappy disc?

It looks like an idiotic game. It seems they have sucked the "unknown" out of the game. It used to be that you zone an area for residential and the sims decide what goes in. You can encourage, cajole, etc... but you don't know what exactly will happen. And what disasters I've seen look pitiful. And no public works?! If I wanted a warm fuzzy game about social relationships, I'd buy a "The Sims" game. Bring back Maxis. This isn't a Simcity sequel it belongs with "The Sims".
I bought this game and in two days I became bored of playing. I love all the simcity series besides this one. They need a serious expansion pack for this game to make up for lack of fun. Who wants a city just about one type of thing? How crappy is that? SimCity is about options, and societies has none.
I was gullible enough to buy this game. I am SOOO disappointed in it. The first 15 minutes were interesting, cause it was something new. Since then, I went back to my Rush Hour expansion pack. I just don't understand why Maxis couldn't have continued to make the successful series? So many people would have bought it, and have been HAPPY with it. This game su*ks. I just got it yesterday. It crashed at the first 20 mins. My pc is way exceeds their minimum requirements. Also, this game is not "simcity" at all. You will be disappointed like me. If you don't believe me buy it and you will be regret like me later.

If I hated the game before it even came out, then I would not have bought it. I can appreaciate that they tried to make it more simple, like the original. But it is too simple. The only good thing I can see about this is that it will get younger people into the city building genre with the game acting as a platform that will want them to take on full city management as seen in the previous games.

I wanted more dynamic infrastructure : allow users to build generig bridges and tunnels, and let them decide what kind of transportation (road, highway, railway) to put on/in it. What do they do? They take us back to the limited options of Simcity Classic, for crying out load.
I wanted zoning to be expanded to airports (like SC2000), seaports, hospitals schools, etc, so that public building complexes look different, and placed on irregular properties. What do they do? They completely take zoning away.
Have you noticed how the Simcity Websites don't have a "contact us" link? The reason they made this crappy game is because they don't know what their users want. Why? BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO BE BOTHERED BY OUR COMMENTS!!!
Why did they do this to sim city? 4 was such a good game and just needed a refresh and a few new features. Sim city 4 took some skill to master and was chalenging and complex.
Then they give us this, a game any 3 year old could master.
To make simcity easier, all they needed was a sanbox mode and all the same features of simcity 4.
Yes I do think this is a big leap for the SimCity series, but a good one! I have simcity 4 and I think they couldn't expand on that any more without changing the gameplay and design, although it is a disappointment that they took away zoning and all that different transportation.
But I think it's great that it's so much more creative now! I can't wait for it to come out!
Sim City before was all just about building the perfect city and everyone being happy, everywhere would be skyscrapers if you did well, which isn't realistic at all.
Zoning isn't in the traditional sense but as shown in the video you could have a slum area of the city with certain types of houses, work etc. and then another area of the city to be completely different, and I think that's more like real life.
I'll definitely be buying this game and it will probably be addictive.
I am disappointed. It reminds me of Civilization or Rise of Nations. EA has lost fans of the game with this one. There should be an expansion pack that would compliment the Rush Hour addition for Sim City 4. More bridges, more trains, more airport options... more roadway interchange options....etc. This would temporarily satisfy the novice and veterans.

This would have been interesting if they actually incorporated it with the ideas of sim city 4, where you have transportation, railroads, zoning, etc... this one is just too different, its a big leap to the side, tacking a different track than the other sim city games. I remember how satisfying it was to watch all the trains on the reailroads and busy highways, well wateredcities, etc... lets you know how good of a player you are.
The only good thing are the graphics. But who cares when the game isn't good. Without zoning the game is terrible. I was hoping that the game would allow larger cities to be made, but it is quite the opposite. I am very disappointed.

It's probably true that this will not please fans of the current Simcity franchise (myself included), as it's a completely different simulation. They never said it was Simcity 5, though, so just because it's different doesn't mean it's a bad game. Maybe they'll expand Simcity 4 with more expansion packs. That would probably be more feasible for them.
O...M...G They BETTER make another SimCity after this one to bring back their reputation. The game doesn't look to great, has NOTHING to do with the franchise (ok they are both cities...), and will probably lose a large portion of their fan base (myself included). I'm gonna stick with SC4 or go to Spore.
I think the game is decent, but not as a SimCities title. It's a good relaxer, a casual game.

This game su*ks. I just got it yesterday. It crashed at the first 20 mins. My pc is way exceeds their minimum requirements. Also, this game is not "simcity" at all. You will be disappointed like me. If you don't believe me buy it and you will be regret like me later.

If I hated the game before it even came out, then I would not have bought it. I can appreaciate that they tried to make it more simple, like the original. But it is too simple. The only good thing I can see about this is that it will get younger people into the city building genre with the game acting as a platform that will want them to take on full city management as seen in the previous games.

This game is a spinoff, not SC5. Don't dismiss it just because it's different - it's actually pretty entertaining. Some of us like this game and don't appreciate the SC4 traditionalists flooding all online message boards ranting about it.
Just wait until SC5 or Cities Unlimited comes out and layoff this game.

This game is horrible. I hate EA! The only reason sim city 4 was good is because Maxis were still involved. After about two hours of playing it, I had enough. It is boring, there is no challenge at all. I just hope cities unlimited turns out to be as good as it looks.

I wanted more dynamic infrastructure : allow users to build generig bridges and tunnels, and let them decide what kind of transportation (road, highway, railway) to put on/in it. What do they do? They take us back to the limited options of Simcity Classic, for crying out load.

I wanted zoning to be expanded to airports (like SC2000), seaports, hospitals schools, etc, so that public building complexes look different, and placed on irregular properties. What do they do? They completely take zoning away.

Why did they do this to sim city? 4 was such a good game and just needed a refresh and a few new features. Sim city 4 took some skill to master and was chalenging and complex.
Then they give us this, a game any 3 year old could master.
To make simcity easier, all they needed was a sanbox mode and all the same features of simcity 4.

Yes I do think this is a big leap for the SimCity series, but a good one! I have simcity 4 and I think they couldn't expand on that any more without changing the gameplay and design, although it is a disappointment that they took away zoning and all that different transportation.
But I think it's great that it's so much more creative now! I can't wait for it to come out!

Sim City before was all just about building the perfect city and everyone being happy, everywhere would be skyscrapers if you did well, which isn't realistic at all.
Zoning isn't in the traditional sense but as shown in the video you could have a slum area of the city with certain types of houses, work etc. and then another area of the city to be completely different, and I think that's more like real life.
I'll definitely be buying this game and it will probably be addictive.

I am disappointed. It reminds me of Civilization or Rise of Nations. EA has lost fans of the game with this one. There should be an expansion pack that would compliment the Rush Hour addition for Sim City 4. More bridges, more trains, more airport options... more roadway interchange options....etc. This would temporarily satisfy the novice and veterans.

This would have been interesting if they actually incorporated it with the ideas of sim city 4, where you have transportation, railroads, zoning, etc... this one is just too different, its a big leap to the side, tacking a different track than the other sim city games. I remember how satisfying it was to watch all the trains on the reailroads and busy highways, well wateredcities, etc... lets you know how good of a player you are.

The only good thing are the graphics. But who cares when the game isn't good. Without zoning the game is terrible. I was hoping that the game would allow larger cities to be made, but it is quite the opposite. I am very disappointed.

It's probably true that this will not please fans of the current Simcity franchise (myself included), as it's a completely different simulation. They never said it was Simcity 5, though, so just because it's different doesn't mean it's a bad game. Maybe they'll expand Simcity 4 with more expansion packs. That would probably be more feasible for them.

The game doesn't look to great, has NOTHING to do with the franchise (ok they are both cities...), and will probably lose a large portion of their fan base (myself included). I'm gonna stick with SC4 or go to Spore.
