I've been a UVA fan for 20+ years and I was sorry to see Harris go down to an injury, but that was as clean a hit as you'll ever see. I saw it in person and JKD's head was up and he hit Harris right in the chest as he released the ball. Plus, there is ALWAYS a point to hitting the other teams QB when you have a chance so long as it's clean,

Definitely not unnecessary. The defender got there right after he threw the ball, so there is no roughing the passer. Also, he hit him directly in the chest. That was just a clean, punishing hit. If he wanted to avoid it, he should've either stayed home or thrown the ball away earlier. Not a fan of either team, but boy that was an awesome hit.
