@clayto1332 You are correct. He played at my high school when I was a kid, and as a drummer, I was invited to a clinic he put on before his evening concert. I learned more four-letter words from him than anyone else. He WAS a huge fucking dick. And what made it worse, was that his band allowed him to treat them like shit, while they pretended he was a god...which he wasn't, until he got behind the kit. I believe this was in the mid seventies not sure, but im certain its from the Carson show, I watched every time he was on back then. Theres also the clip of Buddy and Ed Shaunessey the tonite show drummer trading chops, its here on the you tube - anyone who loves buddy should watch it, one of the more awesome nights on Johnnys show. RIP Johnny and Buddy, were still watching you here- thanks!!!

Im 51 and saw buddy many tiimes on Carson and a musician friend of mine was fortunate to see him in person once. What ever you choose to describe Buddy, master, professional, icon, etc., I think his level of playing is a benchmark to anyone serious about the drums. We had a local blues/rock band here years ago that was very good, their drummer in particular was always said to be much better than most, and who's work do you think he studied? Buddy Rich thats who.
