There are many words like that and are not necessarily pronounced the way they are spelt or in the original language. (an example would be the word depot) Besides, Cassandra has admitted several times her English isn't the greatest and needs to improve. There's nothing wrong with giving her some tips.

Most words have multiple pronunciations. Just because one person says it a tad differently doesn't mean it's necessarily wrong. As they say, "You say tuh-may-toe. I say tuh-mah-toe." :P
